  1. Seat memory should be a case of press 'set' and a press and hold like Mike says. A few less obvious things in VCDS: in the seats module there's a function called something like Easy Access. It does just that and moves the seat back and the seat back forward when you open the drivers door. Also in the seat module there's an option to remember the heated seat level after you remove the ignition key. More for the winter months though. It's been a while since I had my initial VCDS Superb look around, I just worked through every module and found all sorts of gems.
  2. Or just use a ProClip? http://www.brodit.com/productList.html?lrhandDrive=rhd&brand=Skoda&model=Superb&year=2013&pn=prod. I've got the center mount, took 20 seconds to fit.
  3. In the estate, pull the front of the seat base up and backwards, then pull forward from the back of the seat base. You need to remove the headrests for the seats to fold completely flat.
  4. Agree - after my initial excitement, I downloaded the installation instructions (link just underneath Part 1-17). The sequence and screen shots are completely different to the Columbus in the pre-FL Superb. For starters, there is no update option in the setup section.
  5. Here's the direct link http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/Navteq-NavteqEurope-Site/es_GB/-/GBP/View-Promo?&cwt=application/ApplicationFrame_campaign_light&&Page=Skoda-Landing-Page-MIB-Columbus&&NewDomainName=Navteq-NavteqEurope-Site& . I've not tested the download as I already have v9 maps, but if it works I think Jon should be fast tracked to Honorary Member.
  6. Just an update on this Alltronix bulb http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330720882406?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Had my first bulb failure after 9 months and about 6,000 miles (not just a bulb warning). I’ll try one more of the latest version but any more problems I'll be reluctantly returning to standard P21s.
  7. 350 miles sounds about right. It should improve slightly. I've got 35 mpg over 9000 miles with an average speed of 33 mph. I'm not always particularly light-footed. When the refuel message/light comes on you have 15 litres left in the tank (10 litres left until it hits the reserve (which is another 5 litres)).
  8. Don't let the Chesterfield, Sheffield, local garage situation put you off, or that you've started a conversation with SUK about warranty repairs. Separate to all of that is the Sale of Goods Act that is between you and Knaresborough. It would be well worth continuing with the SUK warranty conversation, but I also think it can be resolved with two very simple letters, the price of two second class stamps and a free certificate of posting from the post office. The first letter is here. http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/theoneshow/txt/soga_letter_2.doc When they fail to reply or reject the claim, the second letter is here. http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/wales/consumer_w/consumer_taking_action_e/consumer_legal_actions_e/consumer_going_to_court_e/before_you_take_someone_to_court/letter_before_action.htm I can see your point about the agro of small claims court. But even after sending the second letter, you can still walk away if you want to, with no commitment to take it further.
  9. Completely agree. The claim is against the dealer that sold the car to the OP, not SUK. SUK won't get involved or support the dealer, so there'll be no finest solicitors. In fact any competent commercial lawyer would state to the dealer that an air con system should last a reasonable time and 2 years 3 months is unreasonable and advise the dealer not to challenge. You might find that a simple Letter Before Action will be enough to get it sorted. Close the letter with "In the meantime I still reserve my right." . Works a treat.
  10. This should give you the encouragement to pursue the main dealer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006mg74/features/consumer-victory-sale-of-goods-citroen
  11. So did they actually say "I think you have personally had this car clocked", or did they say that the car might have been clocked by someone at some point or did they comment on how low the mileage was for the age and ask if you could verify it? One person's "accused" is another person's "question". It doesn't really matter as it won't change your perception, I'm just interested that's all.
  12. If that's your only reason for excluding towbar version, I'd rather put my faith in a detachable towbar mounted solution that an strap mounted frame. Personal choice of course. I use a detachable towbar (Skoda supplied and fitted) with a 75kg limit. We have a Thule 929 + 4th bike extension, which is within the limit with four bikes. The Atera Strada DL4 weighs 14.4kg, +2.5kg for the 4th bike extender and gets good reviews on the Yeti forum.
  13. It's similar, but pressing the button on the B pillar deactivates the interior monitor and also deactivates the tow-away protection (useful on ferries) but as far as I'm aware the doors can't be opened from the inside.
  14. Press the Tone button on the Columbus > Volume settings > Traffic reports > you can then set the volume for the traffic updates. Or you can turn them off completely, press the Radio button, then Extras in the bottom right of the screen and then TP. Press the TMC button brings up local traffic issues on screen.
  15. Plus: Press/hold in once will fold the mirrors after 2 seconds if no windows are open. Press once to lock and press again within 2 seconds disables the safe secure system (means you can open the doors from the inside even when the car is locked) - this also turns off the alarm interior monitor.
  16. Before you collect the car, check with the dealer that you can inspect the car indoors if there's any chance of rain, otherwise you won't see any marks on the paintwork etc. If you do find anything wrong, make sure it's noted down and decide whether to reject the car or get it in writing that the dealer will rectify it later to your satisfaction. 1 Check all the optional extras 2 Full size spare wheel in boot, tool set and key adapter for locking wheel nuts. 3 Check the condition of all the bodywork, wheels and interior, fog lights for stone chips (if its got cosmetic damage its going to be down to you once you drive away). 4 Marks on wheels from lashing ratchet strap from the transporter lorry. Refurbs on diamond cut alloys can last only six months, so demand a new wheel. 5 Look very carefully for any small dents or chips. Crouch low and look along the sides of the vehicle and all around for anything out of the ordinary. If the car is outside and it has been raining tell the dealer you will be inspecting the car as soon as it is dry as you wouldn't see anything small if wet. 6 Check panel allignment 7 Check the fit of the doors (front especially) up at the top of the window towards the rear. 8 Have a good look at the seats and the fit of all the trim inside. 9 Check the transport blocks have been removed from the suspension springs 10 Headlight settings are on UK setting (i.e. dipped headlights are not always on with ignition) 11 Umbrella in left rear door lining 12 English manuals, make sure they have filled in and stamped the PDI part of the service book. 13 Make sure all other documents are in the vehicle wallet. 14 Radio security code has been inputted and you have the number etc 15 Make sure there are no stray rags/cloths in the engine compartment. 16 Smoking Pack/Non smoking pack (which ever you ordered) 17 Check VIN numbers match between the car and documentation. 18 Make sure you are set up for the service regime you want (Longlife or time & distance) 19 If there is no top up oil in a little bag in the boot ask for some. 20 Check the bolt caps have been inserted in the holes on the wheels 21 Drop the windows right down, and then put them back up on auto (don't hold it). Make sure the windows don't drop when they're about an inch from shut. 22 But dont worry too much about making sure all the electric stuff works (if there is a fault with the car its covered by warranty anyway) just concentrate on the stuff that the retailer can deny responsibility for later. 23 Two keys with remote locking functions, plus plastic key tag - with serial number, for ordering replacement key if necessary. 24 When you get the car home check the tyre pressures (once they have cooled down) - they sometimes leave the factory at 55 psi (set for long term storage) 25 Check the rechargeable torch is in the boot. 26 Check fuel level if you agreed a quantity as part of the deal. P.S. Nice choice of spec, engine, gearbox and colour!
  17. I'm guessing that the issue is when you're driving through France rather than when you're in Spain? Decree No. 2012-3 is the law introduced. Apparently it's illegal to possess, transport or use a device capable of warning about the location of speed cameras. So hiding them might not be enough, as the device would remain capable of displaying them? By way of comparison, TomTom meet with the Road Safety Ministry and as a result they issued a free update to remove any record of the speed camera location functionality in France and replaced them with Danger Zones (Zones de Vigilance Accrue) provided by the French government. I'm sure you'll get lots of opinions on what to do. Just remember that what you read on the internet is worth exactly what you've paid for it, so I'll probably put a call into Skoda CS before I go in the summer, as like TomTom you would think that this has come up before. Though I seem to remember reading that the official maps don't have any speed cameras for any country as standard, so they might not have a clue.

  19. Mike, it would depend on the phone, but normally in the address book/contacts on the phone, a click of the menu button will bring up some options relating to memory in use or SIM Phone book, whereby you can select to use the SIM phone book temporarily to delete the numbers and then switch back to the phone's internal address book.
  20. I've found ETAs more accurate recently and the only thing I've changed is updating to V9 maps (always been set to "fast").
  21. Should add, if the dealer set the phone up - to get to the Phone setting on the MFD... From the normal MFD display (range, mpg, etc) click the back button and scroll down to Phone, click the right hand scroll wheel.
  22. Instead of disconnecting your phone completely, in the MFD menu there is an Update option to refresh the address book. Click Phone and you'll see the options:- Phone book Dial number Call register Voice mailbox Messages Bluetooth Settings Back Go into Settings, then Phone book, the Update.
  23. Personal settings using Maxidot apply just to the key in the ignition at the time of setting. Other personalised things include climatronic settings (based on the settings last used with that key).
  24. Here's a recent post with more info http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/269397-how-many-child-seats-fit-in-a-superb/. While your twins can go on booster seats, the side and head support & protection of a forward facing seat will always be better. I appreciate it's a balance of safety/convenience/financial means - ideally we'd all drive wearing five-point harnesses, with all passengers facing backwards .... actually, that's not a bad idea, with several other non-safety related benefits.
  25. Yes, the airbags come out of the outer edge of the front seats. Lidl are the masters of selling things you didn't know you needed until you walked through the door. Though they are also great at accepting stuff back for a refund, which is useful when the wife questions your sanity or you come to your senses.
