  1. I did the same today. Warning triangle persisted until I'd gone for a drive, now it's clear. But next time (as if there'll be a next time) I would scan for those P1735/P1736 error codes before buying the piggyback switch and doing the work
  2. Ah the warning triangle went away after the first drive. Bliss. Result 👌
  3. Thanks from me too. One question. After fitting the piggyback switch do you continue to get the warning triangle and message? I'm pretty sure I've done the fitting right. Does it need to be cleared (using ODB11) or will it self-clear after driving a few times?
  4. I don't understand. If it is throwing all sorts of error codes this points to a wiring fault, probably something gross like a loose multi-pin connector. WTF has it got to do with the DSG? If there is something possibly wrong with the DSG then you need someone who knows how to properly diagnose and fix the problem. There is no excuse for main dealers to be selling you possible guess fixes at ££££ cost to you.
  5. I have the same 190bhp 2.0TSI and it is nicely economical when you want it to be.
  6. Ah OK thanks. May give me some breathing room. I think I will try to resolve it sooner or later anyway.
  7. I have seen something about a wiring harness plug-in near the selector lever, is that the way?
  8. It is the common one. Leave vehicle with selector in position P. Take me to a dealer. I get it at random times. I suppose I could try and scan it with my dongle and the app. If I can find the dongle. I'll give that a try.
  9. My DSG started displaying this message a month or two ago. I believe it is a faulty switch and a common problem and I have been ignoring it until now. The MOT is due in July, will it fail the MOT because of the unresolved yellow warning triangle?
  10. Thank you Mr Plantman. May your beds be well watered 💦
  11. Car is now five years old and the windscreen washer has stopped working front and rear. The wipers still work so from looking on here I surmise the pump has died. How do I get to the pump? Is it located below the washer fluid reservoir. How much dismantling. I don't need to use the car every day so I can afford to take off the old pump before ordering the replacement. Car is a Mk3 facelift.
  12. I always thought the EGR doesn't affect performance, it only cleans up emissions when the car is sat in traffic. Unplugged it on my old 406HDi when it started getting stuck in the closed position.
  13. Hello and welcome. It is possible to do that as folk have shown before, but it is not simple. There are some threads on here going back a few years. There was someone called Sasha Grace (or similar) who heavily modded her VRS and kept a long thread on the subject, you'd have to search for it, and she has moved on to a different car now (but possibly still on this forum). Buying a phone holder would be much simpler and less costly. Good luck,
  14. Winter pack is very nice to have for defrosting and first ten minutes of driving in winter. Once you're on the motorway it makes no difference
  15. Plug it in with (a good) USB cable and use Android Auto?
  16. I've had mine apply the brakes. I also get occasional false alarms from it.
  17. The 190 motor is a peach. Smooth and economical at low load and plenty of shove when needed 👍 As with all second hand cars there's a risk of latent problems. If it was me I'd look for a highly specced 2.0 with the 7-speed DSG (the high-torque wet clutch version of this)
  18. L&K is top of the range spec wise and not that common. Personally I think you would be fine with a diesel on an 18-mile each way commute that's plenty of time to get up to temperature and burn off any residues. IMHO.
  19. Should be a standard replaceable part. Try typing whatever number is printed on it into a search engine?
  20. I'm not planning on selling mine just yet
  21. Don't overlook the newer 2.0 TSI /190bhp it is smooth powerful and economical 👌
  22. I had this problem with my Diesel VRS, always lugging until you put it in S then it tried to rev its tits off all the time. I put this down to it being a diesel-auto. Current TSI/DSG is a brilliant combination. First get them to check the DSG has the original programming and ask for a reset or reflash. Tell them to test drive it and make them understand what the problem is.
  23. DSG will always shift to prevent you from stalling or over-revving the engine even in M. Also kickdown still happens.
  24. I went from a diesel VRS to a petrol SE-L. The VRS handling and cornering was very good but I prefer the SE-L for comfort. The 190bhp petrol engine is very good.
