  1. A loaded diesel Sportline 4x4 estate with 4K miles was for sale with £10k + off list price last week. Dealer trying to convince me that Superbs were holding their money too! To be fair, the Sportline is the only car in the current Skoda lineup that I would consider changing the VRS for. Seen some Kodiaq Sportline mock ups in the press that look good though.
  2. There were some threads about this on the Leon Mk3 at seatcupra.net You have a couple of options. Wrap to the lower grille (bumper stays on), or remove the lower grille and wrap the whole bumper section, fore and aft of the grille (bumper off) - depends on your level of OCD! The picture also looks like the car has a separate splitter fitted too.
  3. ^^ I think that your are comparing 2 different products... Quantum is what I use, but it is not quite the same as VAG branded screen wash - Quantum is down to -30 Deg C neat, whereas VAG is -70 Deg C. If you are going to Alps in winter, use the VAG one neat or you will have a frozen washer bottle... as I found out in my old Mk2!!!!
  4. If you want specific help, then register with erWin for the workshop manuals direct from Skoda - see the workshop manual thread that is pinned at the top of the Octavia III Forum. €7 for an hour should be enough to download all of the Manuals for your car.
  5. Ok not Octy but Mk7 Golf so similar in principle: https://www.uspmotorsports.com/downloads/M001-Instructions.pdf Only difference would be removal of door card, which again a quick search on here will find.
  6. Not done this, but search for the door mirror puddle light replacement thread - there is a YouTube video on how to do this. Link should be post #10: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/397177-youtube-guides-for-anything-on-octavia-mk3/?hl=%2Bpuddle+%2Blight#entry4669922
  7. When the phone connects to Bluetooth in the car, the phone acts like it would when attached to the 'old school' blue tooth headset / Bluetooth headphones - once connected to the car's Bluetooth, adjust the volume on the phone.
  8. Great find... I tried to get the parts for this when the car was new, but was informed by the local TPS that they were available via the factory only. I have seen that there are now aftermarket Mirrorlink/CarPlay wifi adaptors available on eBay (£50) / Alibaba ($30 US) - anyone taken the plunge yet? In-Car WIFI Converter Mirror Link Box for Android iOS Airplay Miracast Mobile https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121992390443
  9. I had to enable this on Mk3 Leon so that fogs would work when reversing - it was enabled automatically on the Octavia Mk3 when the cornering fogs were activated. VCDS Coding for Seat to switch off is here - might be similar for Octavia but have not tried: 09 central electric >> 16 security access code 31347 Unlock>> 10 adaptations From drop down select - (1) static AFS light-at Rueckwaertsfahrt - Set value to 'Off' from 'Double Sided' then >> Do It
  10. Wasn't trying to start a VCDS turf war - honest! Bit greedy claiming three counties in your profile though!!!
  11. I work in Andover during the week. Completed this on several member's cars - happy to assist; drop me a pm when you get the car.
  12. Unless I'm mistaken, the instrument lighting is always on with the VAG MQB cars, which includes the 5E Octavia Mk3. There is a light sensor in the cabin (near to the climate switches), which automatically adjusts the brightness of the instrument cluster / dials - in bright sunlight it makes the dials illuminate more and dims when the light reduces - this is a separate sensor to the auto lights sensor which is on the windscreen.
  13. Not too sure that your local tyre place is correct on the winter tyre psi - softer compound / requirement to keep the sipes on the winter tyres spread requires higher pressures, usually 2-3 psi above standard summer pressures - this was the advice always given in Germany by the tyre shops.
  14. Use a heat gun to heat up the bumper; needs to be warm, but be careful not to get it too close or too hot so that it damages the paint. Use a blunt object from behind the bumper to gently push the dent out - again, not too much force as it will stress the plastic / damage the paint. It might be easier to remove the bumper to do this if access behind is not readily available. Used this method a few times to reduce the appearance of dents to bumpers; might not be 100% but will lessen the unsightly dent.
  15. Do you mean internal boot bulbs or tail gate number plate bulbs? Both are 501 (W5W), 5 Watt bulbs.
  16. Did the car not come with 2 cables - 30 pin apple and USB? If so plug the phone charger cable into the USB - not aesthetically beautiful, but should work.
  17. Is the smell coming from the carpet or the air con system? If the former buy a foam based upholstery cleaner - spray on, allow the foam to bring the smell to surface, agitate with nail brush then wipe clean. If the later then TPS (Trade parts Specialists) are selling air con bombs - set off the aerosol with engine running / air con on full and leave for 10 mins. http://quantum.thetradepartsspecialists.co.uk/products/sprays/?page=1&category_id=14&template=/parts/listing.phtml
  18. Makes absolutely no difference whatsoever as it is not standard across range, like the Golf Mk7. When I have tried to specify it on insurance quotes I either had '?' or 'It's an optional extra and we'll have to charge you more as it will cost more to repair in an accident'.
  19. Removing the glovebox is easy. Trying to hook the damper back in place - that is the tricky part!
  20. Mist is fine. Water droplets are not. If the droplets are physically running down the headlight lens, take photos and take back to dealer. Had one of my headlight units replaced - this was due to the fact that the dealer had been inspecting the xenon bulb housing as the bulb had been bouncing whilst driving, and had not secured the access cap in place. During the first drive in rain it filled the headlight unit with a puddle of water - cap clicks when it engaged properly. Also more prevalent after you wash the car.
  21. Look great - not very practical for cleaning salt and road grime off though, which is more prevalent in 'winter' conditions. Plain and simple for me every time. https://www.4x4tyres.co.uk/17-dezent-td-matte-black_ttdy8ka48
  22. Continental recommend a wider tyre for winter tyres now, normally the same width as standard, even if taking a drop in rim diameter. This is because you have more of the tyre / sipes in contact with the surface which improves grip / braking / cornering. Also if the same width as you are used to for summer tyres, there is less adjustment in driving style for us non-pro drivers. Obviously just an opinions based argument that will keep this thread going strongly for a few more days!!! Also 225/45/17 is the more common size = more choice, lower prices.
  23. On the link you supplied, the difference is the ET46 rims are 6.5" wide, whereas the ET48 rims are 6" wide. ET offset describes how far the wheel is offset from the mating it's mating face - for rims with the same width, the lower the ET the further the wheel will be away from the shock, but closer to the arch. However, ET is a combination of both rim width and offset. The 6"/ET48 combination is the Skoda approved size for snow chains using 205mm width tyre - however do you intend to use snow chains? If the answer is no, then both will fit fine.
  24. I seem to recall that the 4x4 variants have a different shaped fuel tank to non-4x4 to accommodate the rear drivetrain set up. Also, the scout has a different tyre circumference vs the other models across the Octavia range. The variant numbers will just relate to how the coding is altered rather than specific to 'Scout'.
