  1. I've seen a couple of EV9s on the road and didn't think it looked too bad. No worse than any big SUV such as a range rover etc
  2. If you look on kodiaqforums.co.uk there's a good guide. It involves unclipping the two parts of the handle, taking the interior door panel off and the using a small nut, both and washer to hold it all back together. It looks to be half and hour to an hour's job.
  3. I tend to agree with you - my Suzuki Swift of the same age, a car that is priced at less than half that of the Kodiaq, has radar controlled 'active' cruise control that is much better. However, I do think what you are experiencing is compounded by the fact that it is a DSG Automatic as our manual gains nothing near that amount on a 14% downhill slope on the way to our house... if I remember I'll try to check it again (and whether it does actually brake) over the weekend
  4. The big plastic connectors look to be aftermarket blade fuse holders so I'd guess that it's probably retrofit wiring for a dash cam or phone charger that's not been fully removed.
  5. From the comments in the original post the cruise control is working as it should and as ours does in our Kodiaq with basic cruise control. The only 'braking' function it has is engine braking which in our manual car is fine. On a long downhill stretch it picks up a few mph and that's all I imagine on a DSG equipped car it would pick up much more speed as there's likely to be less engine braking and also the DSG may slip into coasting mode if that is something that year of Kodiaq does. By all means have ACC fitted but I believe the system is working as intended so you have little or no cause for complaint.
  6. Personally, given you'd have an excess to pay, I'd avoid the insurance route as that would be more expensive in the long run. My guess is s decent small bodyshop doing the work privately will be pretty cheap (my mum had a bump recently that staved in the nearside front corner and the non-insurance repair quote was almost the same as her excess... around £400.... When I had the Swift bumped and no one owned up it had significant damage to the front wing and bumper - the local bodyshop repaired it for £270... the insurers excess would have been more than that and thier repairer quoted nearly £2k...
  7. Why not get the other driver to pay and not go through insurance...
  8. You're braver than me getting in that pit with the just perched like that!! Otherwise that looks like a good solid pass.
  9. Ah - good on them - I thought your post meant it had been spotted by someone else. Useful to know though for future reference!
  10. You'd think the garage that had the car up on the ramps might have spotted that...
  11. Have you checked that you don't have a brake dragging? Are any of the wheels hot to the touch after a drive (probably on the left hand side if you are having to steer to the right)?
  12. Our first Fabia 1.9tdi did over 80k miles on its first cambelt so they tend to be strong. As for smoke I used to use a bottle of forte diesel system cleaner once a year before a MOT, it never failed and was pretty much smoke free. https://www.forteuk.co.uk/product/advanced-formula-diesel-treatment/
  13. I think it might be this but this says for a mk2 https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/038103638p-grommet-genuine-part-14932.html
  14. Should be a good car if it's been looked after. Those older 1.9Tdi were pretty bomb proof provided they had the right oil. My BIL had one and liked it but I could never get on with the interior lighting that was red so for some reason I found it really difficult to focus on.
  15. Ah... I misread and thought they were worn on both inner and outer edges. As you say wear on the outer edges suggests too much toe in but you'd have thought that would also manifest itself in a degree of instability and wandering at speed too
  16. Given the uneven wear were they inflated correctly as that wear pattern points to under inflation
  17. He he... Snap!!
  18. Royal Mail are doing similar albeit they are still electrifying their red fleet. I've been involved in a new a delivery office for them and it needs it's own 1megawatt substation to charge the red delivery vans.
  19. We were talking about use of alternative transport to the car.. . Not speed limits??? Selfishness... Possibly yes... Or simply more suited to the individual concerned - as you said... The right tool for the job.?
  20. Because the saving lives bit has been thoroughly debunked as over egged and, whilst not false, largely incorrect in terms of scale. And because people value convenience and their time more highly than they value the issues that are 'solved' by the alternatives. I'm not saying either is correct but that's the way it is.
  21. We have an older smart Panasonic TV that is maybe 8 years old and the software is definitely now out of date and cannot be updated further.. To the extent that iplayer is about to stop functioning on it and Netflix likewise. We're therefore making more use of our rokus but even they are now going out of date and won't work with some Netflix subscriptions any more so we need a new one.
  22. Actually I don't think freedom is the full issue. It's actually more to do with convenience.
  23. Sounds more like a slightly loose alternator belt to me...
  24. Which probably reflects the quality (or lack) of the alternatives
  25. Snap... Almost... I also use the Evostik stuff
