  1. Not sure how you'd identify options on a second hand car...
  2. I've certainly declared my towbar as it was fitted after purchase. It had no effect on the premium but is at least now noted by the insurers
  3. Much of that sounds like dealer bull**** to drum up some work. Discs... Just take it for a run and do a few hard emergency stops from higher speeds when appropriate to clean up the discs. Shocks... Misting is not the same as leaking. Some light misting is normal. Bush... There's no play in it so it should be fine for a good while yet.
  4. So the same sort of incremental advances that ICE have been making...
  5. We were aware of electric vehicles in the late 19 century... But some things we were aware of then have only recently come to market... Motor in wheel for example... Any examples of new EV technology other than ongoing battery improvements?
  6. Variable compression ratio / ultra lean burn / stratified charge / miller cycle / six stroke. All improvements in ICE technology coming to market or being developed that improve efficiency.
  7. On our Mk2 Pre-FL I dropped in some 35w HIDs and they were a massive improvement. Also fine at MOT time too.
  8. Excellent news... Really chuffed you got it sorted!
  9. Have to say... I much prefer that new front end...
  10. My thought was the kill switch could be a two stage one. The first press could default to a 'safe stop' routine and if that didn't work the second would instigate a system shutdown and total stop wherever the vehicle happened to be.
  11. Indeed - surely there should be either a big red 'Emergency Stop' button in / on the car, or a means for the 'control centre' to stop the car in an emergency
  12. I've said for a while I'll never go near one but that just re-enforces that thought.
  13. \The right hand ones are for coins - pound coins fit easily from memory
  14. I thought spark plugs were at 40,000 miles according to Skoda's own regime (granted 4 years but if the cars not doing the mileage they won't deteriorate)? They're about £15 each tops from memory. Ideally you'd need to remove one and check its condition before stumping up for replacement. As for the tyre sealant - bugger that at that price! Anything from £10 - £20 on ebay or similar for OE stuff or less for universal stuff.
  15. Given the first is a 1.0 triple and the other is 30 years old I agree!
  16. Probably the same with his 2.0 injected MX 5... 🤣 A 2 litre should do 0 to 60 in about 6 to 8 seconds depending on model year...
  17. 9.7 for the swift and 8.6 for the MX5 actually. Both checked via an accelerometer. But it's not all about 0 to 60 is it... That's just sad willy waving.
  18. Ooh some Whataboutery to deflect criticism... and some 'personal' digs too for good measure - nice! Yes I have done more than 70mph in both the Swift and the MX5 - and very easily actually as both are capable of over 120mph without issue thanks. By the looks of things the Fleet website data is based on new lease costs and possible higher insurance costs based on a specific location / age profile etc for comparison purposes? - Both of which will likely be leading to higher running costs... ??? As for you and your colleagues withdrawing your cars from the employer usage - that's fine and your prerogative to do so - unless you have a contractual requirement to use them due to the provision of a car allowance and fuel cards (which I understand you have previously had access to?). Either way falsely claiming additional mileage, or 'extras' is still fraud in the eyes of the law, whichever way you look at it.
  19. I only assume because you have admitted doing so in your posts (both on this thread and elsewhere in these forums)... As for running cars on 45p per mile - it is possible as a quick check reveals my Swift is costing me around 38p per mile at the moment, including fuel, tyres, servicing, insurance, tax and depreciation (the latter based on my original purchase price and current Autotrader values for vehicles of a similar age, mileage and specification). I haven't included the cost of one pair of wipers and screenwash over the last few years. Granted getting the above down to 25p per mile would be more difficult!
  20. Thanks - that seems to clarify that they think 16% have no solutions, 16% can use cross-footway solutions and 68% have access to a driveway or similar... I remain to be convinced their numbers are correct 🤣
  21. No wonder if those who are supposed to be 'auditing' are as bad as the rest in terms of false declarations and claims etc. I have no words for the hypocrisy in some of your posts!
  22. I guess by 'many drivers' you mean yourself??? Most of us don't commit fraud and claim for the mileage of the route we actually take and the mileage we do, without adding in 'extras'...
  23. That's a slightly ambiguous paper - is the 16% of the nation (of England) part of the 32% or not - it doesn't clearly say. So is there 32% that remain with no solution but 16% do have a potential solution via cross-footway charging, meaning 52% have access to a driveway or similar? Or is it 16% have no solutions, 16% can use cross-footway solutions and 68% have access to a driveway or similar? Very poor writing with regard to clarity of information... and totally ambiguous!
  24. Which is all exactly as we've been trying to tell you...??? Albeit maybe in not so many words and not as clearly...
  25. Give it up George... There's no point arguing with him... As you said earlier he's blind to the point of the discussion taking place. It often happens with 'evangelists' of any sort... They just can't see past the end of Thier own nose.
