Hi @pab567 - just a quick message to say thanks for the Bolero update for our Kodiaq, which seems to have installed fine as it's now showing as software version 0478 from memory. However, as an aside I was going to update some radio station logos from the Skoda update site and when I input my VIN to be able to download them I got the following message: This seems to imply that it 'might' be possible to get navigation working on the 5Q0035842C / H41 / 0478 Bolero on our Kodiaq... I'm not really expecting it to be possible but do you happen to know if it is? Thanks

Sounds like you have an issue with the transponder (the little glass capsule) in the new key then if the old one starts every time. It may be faulty and need replacing by the key shop. As a temporary 'fix' are the internals the same? - can you transfer the transponder capsule from the old key into the new fob?

Not aware of any but you could always fit some of the rally flap type ones?? They are usually a fair bit longer

Might be worth cleaning it properly and then giving it a gentle run over with a heat gun. It won't remove the scratches but will bring the dark colour back to them and hence reduce their visibility. This worked on some external plastics on my previous Honda Civic so should work in this situation too. You just need to be careful, so you don't do more damage than good.

Didn't realise they were still using that design... They were in the back of our mk1 fabia estate from 2001! There's a connector at one end so you need to pop the "off" end out and the ease it down and slide the other end out horizontally.

I have a vague recollection that the receiver coil for the immobiliser transponder in the key is located around the ignition lock barrel on the steering column and has been known to fail (or the connections fail). I think the coil is a pretty easy replacement so might be worth investigating but after that it could be wiring related: Fabia immobilizer - key signal too low - Skoda Fabia Guides - BRISKODA

Not had any complaints from the kids yet in the hot weather and most of the flow to the back comes from the centre rear vents anyway.

Went to look at bikes for you daughter earlier this week... with her epilepsy etc. it needs to be something stable so thinking of a Hase Trigo Up with a couple of adaptations... Very nice bit of kit and nicely engineered! Can be retrofitted with a Shimano e-motor but means I'd probably need to invest in a trailer to transport it. They do a similar version that folds but it's nearly three times the price!

It wont be within the 'Radio' sub-menu. Do you have a 'Home' or 'Menu' button on the headunit? (see below top left). If so hit one of those and you should get something like the image below that shows 'Smartlink' (top row third from left)... If you then hit the 'Smartlink' button you should get something like the following if you have Android Auto / Carplay / Mirrorlink:

I'm 5' 10' and my wife is shorter but we both have the seat raised quite high for visibility so they are quite obvious from the back seat... Hence the purchase

Yep - got some the same myself before the car even arrived - they finish the vents off nicely, prevent stuff falling down them and cost the princely sum of £6...

Good news (aside from the Superb bit) if the McLaren was being driven 'antisocially'... there's a guy with a Porsche who lives somewhere round us and drives like a complete tit... flat out everywhere in a residential areas with kids (you can tell as he has the exhaust valves open and rev-matching on so you can hear him from a long way off). I've seen him blat past our house at stupid speeds but managed to get his plate yesterday (private) and am wondering whether to report him via 101 so someone can 'have a word'...

And the final outcome was the dealer couldn't replicate the leak and the service manager maintained that water sitting on top of the seal was 'normal' because there is a drain hole in the tailgate above the seal so that anything that gets inside the hatch can drain out. Well... there is a drain hole on the base of the hatch but: 1. it's fitted with a rubber bung so is effectively sealed against the passage of water 2. it's location is such that it is 'outside' the line of the tailgate seal, so that, with the hatch closed any water would drain out onto blakc plastic bumper finisher on the outside of the car, and not onto the seal or the inside of the car 3. the leak was causing water to drain out from behind the internal tailgate trim, meaning it was 'inside' the interior trim 4. as far as I can make out no other Kodiaq appears to demonstrate this particular 'design quirk' 5. in over 30 years of maintaining and repairing many cars (and as a professionally qualified engineer) I have never seen a design that would allow water to drain ONTO the top of a tailgate seal unless there was a leak from somewhere allowing water to track internally. Needless to say I now have the car back and will sort it myself.

we progressed from a Fabia estate to an Octy Estate and now a 5 seat Kodiaq... and still managed to fill the boot in the latter for a week's trip visit family in Belfast though (even with teenage kids so no small child paraphernalia!)

Carista is straightforward and easy from my recent experience on a Kodiaq. It's done what I needed to do for less than a tenner for a months subscription as I already had an ELM327 dongle. As others have said a lot of the changes people make are made once and that's it. I've changed a few things just to try them and then changed some back with no issues (and still have a couple of weeks left to play)

So it went into the dealer today to be looked at but they apparently can't replicate the issue with their 'sprinkler' (that could be because I've already adjusted the rear hatch rubber stops, tightened the tailgate light fittings and tightened the tailgate gas strut mount out of necessity given the heavy rain we've had recently - so I may already have fixed it). However, they have also informed me that water sitting on top of the hatch seal, internal to the sealing line (see below), is 'normal'... It's not and doesn't explain how water got behind the internal tailgate trim such that it ran out from behind the trim when the hatch was opened on two separate occasions. I wouldn't mind if they simply said 'it's not leaking at the moment so we can't trace it but bring it back if it does it again'... but trying to suggest it's normal and how the seal is supposed to work is taking the mickey.
