  1. Ours was bought in June 2007.. so yes! Although admittedly it was 3 months old at that time
  2. In 36 years of owning multiple cars most of which have been run for over 13 years and well over 100k miles I've never taken out or needed an extended warranty. You are far better looking after the car and, if your worried about repair costs putting any money you might have paid for a warranty aside.
  3. Figured a minor thread revival was due... Spent some time fixing my daughters headphones today (moments of joy thread) and that got me thinking about the Leak 3000 headphones that my late father in law had which in turn got me thinking about vinyl and playing some records... So a strange afternoon ensued with me decidingto play some Jean Michel Jarre and my youngest enjoying it so much we played five of his albums back to back... She was quite intrigued by the story behind Rendezvous and the connection with the ill-fated space shuttle.
  4. The horn on my Swift is also a feeble 'meep' but those on my old mx5 and Octavia are much better. I wonder if its to do with any recent legislation on noise levels? Either way replacing the one on the swift is on my list of jobs as I always feel a small car should have a decent horn given the number of times drivers of big cars try to bully you out of the way
  5. Yeah they are... Its a slightly narrower one at 775mm wide as its next to the archway to our utility room so we didn't want to block anything. Plus SWMBO preferred the layout of it so who was I to argue. Still huge compared to what we used to have though.
  6. Agree with you there... They drive really nicely and the interior is a good place to be as its comfy, well laid out with good access and visibility. I was hoping shed go for it as we might end up with her cast off eventually and it would be a cracking car for my daughter in a few years. Overall I think the Arona is a much better car than the Jazz but it wasn't to be... And it sounds like you got a cracking deal as well!
  7. He he... With my daughters special medical diet we currently have an american fridge freezer (272L / 138L) plus a standard under counter freezer (90L ish) plus a table top fridge (40L ish)... And they are still all rammed at times...
  8. Nice - I looked at an Arona in that spec with the MIL last year... unfortunately she went on to buy a Jazz... Stupid thing is she was taken with it and liked red with a black roof (she didn't like the silver they offered) but they could only find a red with a grey roof... The jazz is grey...
  9. Trustpilot don't give Liebherr a particularly good rating Liebherr Group Reviews | Read Customer Service Reviews of www.liebherr.com (trustpilot.com)
  10. I looked at the Picanto before buying the Swift but found it too small in the back and the rear seatbelts cut into you neck when fastened. But other than that quite decent.
  11. Of the cost of the hearing aid is anything like my mother-in-law's it'll be more than the value of the car!
  12. May be worth taking out he pollen filter and fan to see if it's worked it's way down that far. We had a funny rattling noise in our a long time ago and it was a parking ticket that had fallen down the screen vent but had reached the fan and was rattling against the blades
  13. Pretty certain that is how it's supposed to be to make a good seal
  14. I hope you're not suggesting there's a body in there...
  15. If you are just trying to address the issue when loaded, why not use MADhelper springs or Gayston Spring Assisters? Helper Springs from Ekollon | Securing Heavily Loaded Cars (mad-suspension.co.uk) Spring Assisters (grayston.biz) I have the latter on our Octavia 4x4 Estate and they do the job for when I have a fully loaded boot and 4 bikes on the towbar mounted rack.
  16. These are the sort you want... Skoda Octavia Estate 2004 to 2012 Twin Pack Wiper Blades They slide on an off a pin on the wiper arm when the arm is lifted from the screen and the blade turned through 90 degrees (ignition on then off then press the wiper stalk down once to get the arms into the service position and allow them to be lifted). Cheers
  17. He he no worries. If you are aiming middle of the range 90bhp plus then you have on choice in the swift... The SZT with the same boosterjet triple but no hybrid element - at least post 2017 as the only other option was a N/A 1.2 that's rather feeble. The SZT is still a good spec though and doesn't miss out on much. However, bear in mind that if £10k is your budget both the SZT and SZ5 should be in budget for low mileage second hand examples (I didn't pay much more for a 1year old car with 800 miles on the clock that at that point in time had sat in a showroom for the best part of its life.
  18. Looks like my name was mentioned... Not sure what you mean by 'phased out the fun engines' in the Swift but I'm guessing you mean the naturally aspirated engines in the Mk 3 Swift to 2017 and the 130bhp Sport? If so then I can reassure you they definitely haven't phased out the fun engines or the fun! And it's all Suzuki's own design which means great reliability and lots of knowledge gained from small capacity bike engines. As George has said I have a new model Swift (2017 SZ5 version) with the 1.0l Boosterjet triple Hybrid and it's a great package. 112ps and 170nm from the petrol engine plus 3ps and 50NM from the electric starter generator. That puts it well ahead of the old Swift Sport and almost on a par with the non-hybrid current Sport in terms of torque, all in a package that is only 925kg that handles like a go-kart. OK the interior may not have much in the way of soft touch materials but it looks good, works well, is comfy, has stacks of tech and, design-wise (IMHO) beats the Fabia hands down. I also got mine for a very good price... There are a fair few discussions on tehSwift on here: Have I just seen a pretty good VRs substitute? The new Suzuki Swift Sport....WOW! - Skoda Fabia Mk III - BRISKODA Suzuki Swift Sport - General Automotive Chat - BRISKODA http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/448432-2018-suzuki-swift http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/444067-suzuki-swift-or-fabia http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/436099-2017-suzuki-swift-rs By the way - VW don't have any stake in Suzuki any more - that was 'bought back' just prior to Dieselgate with a loan from Toyota who Suzuki are now sharing cars with (the new Swace is a Corolla and the Across a RAV4). VW originally bought into Suzuki for their small engine know-how... but clearly may not have learnt much...
  19. I think I've had the H7 kit in for about 10 years now and its passed every MOT no issues... But you are correct it may not be the same for everyone.
  20. Actually thinking about it im getting it wrong and thinking of the brakes with the accumulator... The steering is electric so i think runs off the separate hybrid battery whilst the emgime is stopped but the car is still moving below about 10mph until totally stationary... Apologies feel free to ignore me!!
  21. Pretty certain it was these at 4300k as I have spare burners still in my watch list https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H7-Xenon-Conversion-Kit-metal-base-bulbs-mini-ballasts-/270591725356?hash=item3f00860f2c&redirect=mobile
  22. Yes on our 07 and definitely. I tried 50w hids initially but they kept throwing codes when high beam was used for some reason even though they were in the dipped projectors, so eventually went for a 35w kit from London Colour on eBay and had them coded. No issues with alignment or beam and no problem with the MOT.
  23. Ended up doing this myself today... The chime doesn't seem to happen when ,y wife drives but for me in a big winter coat it was on almost constantly... So the plug was pulled
  24. To some degree yes... the problem is two fold and a bit of a vicious circle combined. Driving standards do seem to be dropping, leading to an increase in accidents, so education and training is worthwhile but also in-car tech is creating distraction which is also leading to accidents and some of the accident-preventing tech is in and of itself, distracting (witness Germany's courts ruling on the Tesla).
