  1. Yep - got some the same myself before the car even arrived - they finish the vents off nicely, prevent stuff falling down them and cost the princely sum of £6...
  2. Looks like a potential fault waiting to happen... granted there'll be a seal in there but even so...
  3. They are a BMW part as well... you need two per belt and pretty pricey! BMW Seat Safety Belt Buckle Limit Stop Clamp Clip 72118469012: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike Pantri Trading: BMW Seat Safety Belt Buckle Stop Clamp Clip 1862636 72111862636
  4. Good tip George - I'll remember that one!
  5. Good news (aside from the Superb bit) if the McLaren was being driven 'antisocially'... there's a guy with a Porsche who lives somewhere round us and drives like a complete tit... flat out everywhere in a residential areas with kids (you can tell as he has the exhaust valves open and rev-matching on so you can hear him from a long way off). I've seen him blat past our house at stupid speeds but managed to get his plate yesterday (private) and am wondering whether to report him via 101 so someone can 'have a word'...
  6. Thanks that would be much appreciated.
  7. And the final outcome was the dealer couldn't replicate the leak and the service manager maintained that water sitting on top of the seal was 'normal' because there is a drain hole in the tailgate above the seal so that anything that gets inside the hatch can drain out. Well... there is a drain hole on the base of the hatch but: 1. it's fitted with a rubber bung so is effectively sealed against the passage of water 2. it's location is such that it is 'outside' the line of the tailgate seal, so that, with the hatch closed any water would drain out onto blakc plastic bumper finisher on the outside of the car, and not onto the seal or the inside of the car 3. the leak was causing water to drain out from behind the internal tailgate trim, meaning it was 'inside' the interior trim 4. as far as I can make out no other Kodiaq appears to demonstrate this particular 'design quirk' 5. in over 30 years of maintaining and repairing many cars (and as a professionally qualified engineer) I have never seen a design that would allow water to drain ONTO the top of a tailgate seal unless there was a leak from somewhere allowing water to track internally. Needless to say I now have the car back and will sort it myself.
  8. we progressed from a Fabia estate to an Octy Estate and now a 5 seat Kodiaq... and still managed to fill the boot in the latter for a week's trip visit family in Belfast though (even with teenage kids so no small child paraphernalia!)
  9. Carista is straightforward and easy from my recent experience on a Kodiaq. It's done what I needed to do for less than a tenner for a months subscription as I already had an ELM327 dongle. As others have said a lot of the changes people make are made once and that's it. I've changed a few things just to try them and then changed some back with no issues (and still have a couple of weeks left to play)
  10. As far as I'm aware they are just know as hydraulic jacking beams and they generally have adjustable rail widths... https://www.sealey.co.uk/product/5637200155/2tonne-jacking-beam-with-16m-extending-arms-flat-roller-supports
  11. So it went into the dealer today to be looked at but they apparently can't replicate the issue with their 'sprinkler' (that could be because I've already adjusted the rear hatch rubber stops, tightened the tailgate light fittings and tightened the tailgate gas strut mount out of necessity given the heavy rain we've had recently - so I may already have fixed it). However, they have also informed me that water sitting on top of the hatch seal, internal to the sealing line (see below), is 'normal'... It's not and doesn't explain how water got behind the internal tailgate trim such that it ran out from behind the trim when the hatch was opened on two separate occasions. I wouldn't mind if they simply said 'it's not leaking at the moment so we can't trace it but bring it back if it does it again'... but trying to suggest it's normal and how the seal is supposed to work is taking the mickey.
  12. Yep a parrot was what I was thinking as it looks similar to the wire to the ls3200 we had in our octavia
  13. Yep that's the one... Mine split that hose twice round the back so not visible but could be felt.
  14. I believe it is a fault with the dpf additive pump short circuiting to +ve
  15. Check the turbo to intercooler hose at the turbo end... The rubber bend before it joins the hard pipe that runs forward to the intercooler. If you feel round the back of it as it comes out of the turbo you may find its split. Its a common fault on the BMM engine (ours was replaced twice at roughly 7 year intervals)
  16. If it meets thevspec it should be fine. I used mannol 507 spec oil for years in my old Scout with no I'll effects.
  17. My best one was in Cambridge cycling past Pembroke College along Trumpington Street. As I went past a parked car the drivers door opened so I swing hard right. I was going too fast really and couldn't stop before I hit the open gutter in front of the college. The front wheel went down it and stopped, I went over the handlebars but because I had toe clips on the bike then followed me and I ended up on my back with the bike still attached at the college gate. I was in such a position that I needed a passer by to loosen the clips so I could unhook my feet and get up. No injury just a bruised ego. A few days later a mate got similar treatment from another driver but ended up hitting the car door and going over the top of it...
  18. My guess would be that at one stage it may have had a hands free kit fitted and rather than remove it properly the wires have just been cut to get it out...
  19. It shouldn't need a dremel... That is sure to break the glass capsule. I'd go for a sharp knife and gently cut the plastic to get the capsule out.
  20. Noo... There must be somewhere dry you can store the Capri! You could have used my garage if my MX-5 wasn't in it!! Hmmm... Wonder if I know anyone with an empty garage...
  21. I don't know the situation you are in but people have tried to persuade me to sell my '95 MX-5 a few times for various reasons (kids / not used etc.) But no one has succeeded yet and they won't.
  22. Many thank to Pawel for sending me a link. For info and so I set aside enough time how long have others found the update has taken to install?
  23. Have to say you could be right re the trims. Ours is an SE in business grey and it looks well as it has no chrome pack on the sides so suits but higher specs do have a chrome pack as standard which would suit the darker quartz grey. And actually in certain lights the business grey does have a slight hint of blue...
  24. @pab567 Hi Pawel... Just wondering if you have an update for the following Bolero in a 2018 Kodiaq? We're struggling to get our Android 10 phones to connect via smartlink so we can use satnav from the phones so wondering if an update will help. Thanks in advance. Edit: the lack of connection to our phone actually looks like it might be because they are both Android Go based phones and apparently android auto isn't compatible with Go... Doh! A software update might still be useful though...
