I bought a Skoda Fabia 1.6 TDI 2010 model today. DPF warning light has come on.
Re the radio if it is the original one it should be coded to the car. Turn the radio off then ignition off then ignition on and then radio back on. It should then check codes with the car, clear safe mode and work fine

4x4 problems
My guess would be an ABS sensor on its way out... Any fault codes in that system showing up?

Basic coding changes... Does carista work?
Morning! Just checking if anyone has successfully done some basic coding changes on a kodiaq using carista. I'm after enabling thing like alarm chirp on lock, cornering fogs and the like on our new to us 2018 SE. Cheers

Kodiaq Owners Register
And finally got it... Only a 1.4 TSI act 4x4 SE with a few extras but very pleased so far... Just need to make a few tweaks with vcds or similar.

Retro fit reversing camera
There's a thread in the Octavia III section about fitting a reversing camera to the Octavia on an MQB platform and having taken a look it seems it should fit without coding to earlier Kodiaqs. It's what I'll probably be trying when I finally get the car in a few days and have time. Edit: Found it! How To - Reverse Camera Fitting Guide - Skoda Octavia Guides - BRISKODA

How To - Reverse Camera Fitting Guide
Cheers... I'm hopefully collecting the car in a couple of days so can check the Bolero unit numbers then... Touch wood given SWMBO's history of reversing 'new to us' cars (takes her a while to get used to them if you know what I mean)

Best Bulbs
If it's Halogen then Twenty20 or osram nightbreaker laser seem to get good reviews.

vibrations above 50mph
I would never accept an unbalanced wheel regardless of where on the car it was being fitted. Not doing so is very poor on the part of whoever fitted them.

How To - Reverse Camera Fitting Guide
Sorry - just another thought - our headunit is a Bolero (so no Nav) Presumably this would still work regardless?

Aux not working
Is here a 'setting' to turn the Aux input on (I vaguely remember there is on ours but it's a different headunit). Otherwise might the Aux socket have been disconnected at some point?

How To - Reverse Camera Fitting Guide
Maybe a stupid question... but has anyone tried this on a Kodiaq? It does say it should work on one but would be good to have some evidence... ;-)

Is it worth stripping accessories off car before trading in? - any interest on here?
Our 2007 Octavia 4x4 estate will be going soon so I was starting to clear it out and wondered if any of the following would be worth 'salvaging' for sale before it goes... bearing in mind the dealer will probably just send it to auction. Non-Canbus HID kit (Londoncolour kit) Parrot bluetooth kit (LS3200 colour) Silver coloured 'Swing MP3' radio surround 16" Apollon spare wheel (never been on the car) Jack and 'toolkit' etc. OE Rubber boot mat Boot nets OE carpet mats Sunglasses holder (grey) Rear interior individual reading lights (not the single large light unit) Any thoughts?

To keep and repair or time to let it go.....
From recent experience (we're just about to move on our 2007 2.0 TDi 4x4) a repair of £1500 will be more than the trade-in value of the car and not far off it's private sale value. They are pretty solid cars but it's how much you value it and what might go next if it's been heavily used (propshaft couplings? engine mounts?, shocks?, springs?) or whether you'd be better sinking that £1500 into something newer.

Kodiaq buying advice please...
Yeah I saw them... Even more expensive than OE... So hoping for a cheaper way

Kodiaq buying advice please...
Hi all, Just waiting for a day to collect it now but, in the meantime... It was 1st registered in mid-March 2018 - Is it possible that it will have the silica bag in the coolant reservoir? I recall seeing G13 on the header tank when looking under the bonnet but don't recall seeing the 'mit silikat' wording? I can take a look when I collect it but just wondering if it's something I should get the dealer to check / remove in case it does have one and it splits when I remove it? It has a Bolero - is it worth asking the dealer to check it is updated before delivery or is Pab on here my best bet. Re the above Bolero - is there a size limit on SD Cards and what format does the card / files need to be and what size album art? (in the Swift I use WMA but some art shows up and some doesn't). In terms of headlights - are the dipped and main H7 and the Fogs H8 (currently looking at Twenty20 +150% replacements given recent reviews) Can cornering fogs, left mirror dip and off-road display be enabled? And lastly - has anyone done an LED headlight unit retrofit? I've read somewhere that the connectors might be different and no doubt control modules and coding would be needed but LED units are now relatively cheap second hand... (the alternative might be if Osram finally do a Kodiaq retrofit unit like they have done for some golfs etc...) Cheers

How comfortable are standard Audi seats?
Hmmm... not good! Is the seat possibly too high still?... meaning you are potentially 'bowing your head' a little at the neck to get a better view and unconciously taking the weight of your arm via your shoulder? It might also explain why your hip was tender if the seat bolster has been pressing on it? Not sure really - just some thoughts...

Manual or DSG
Interesting thread as we've just agreed a deal on a manual Kodiaq as SWMBO didn't really get on with the DSG. We also noticed (after trying three DSG's with a variety of petrol and diesel engines) that they didn't seem to gel particularly well with stop-start and were a bit 'jerky on initial take-up. The latter may be because we weren't that 'tuned in' to the DSG at that point but it was enough to put us off, although it was very smooth once underway. Possibly just us but I can see the appeal having now tried one...

Ok... Only trying to help...

You are about the same height as me then and I can still get that sort of position with arms bent no problem (ie I can rest my bent elbow on the top of the door whilst still holding the wheel (albeit I am 'stumpy' with shortish legs and a long back). From the sounds of things you may find your seat is set too low (that's also a common issue as it leads to lack of leg support (see above) and a natural tendency to unconsciously stretch upwards for a better view over the bonnet - so try raising the seat a bit - this should mean you can keep the angle but it will mean you sit a notch or two further forward to comfortably reach the pedals, thus giving you the 'bent arm'. For info in our MkII Octy I have the seat at it's highest setting and almost the highest in the swift as well. Also for background I have no lumbar support in the Swift or MX-5 and nor did I in the Fabia or a previous Mitsubishi and I can / could do long stints in all of them with no issues. By contrast a previous Vauxhall and Honda Civic crippled me.

It all depends... Many people sit far too upright which leads to the seat not actually supporting them and then having to effectively hold themselves upright putting strain on their back. Others then sit too leaned back so they can't see out or control the vehicle properly. I had a guide somewhere that showed how to set a seat properly and it does work... From someone with a herniated disc, although some people I've shown it to have ignored it as it's not how they usually drive (Eg the boy racers and ladies that like to sit bolt upright with the shell in their chest)

Free kodiaq mats
Are these still around and would you post them?

Kodiaq buying advice please...
Well the deal has been done on the low mileage grey petrol SE 4x4 manual with options and a couple of 'sweetners' from the dealership. SWMBO was happy with it and in the end didn't want to stump up the extra for an SEL... I'll see what the lights are like when it arrives and work out what to do with them then but, in the meantime, I'm investigating tow bars and reverse cameras and any other tweaks. So thanks for all the advice!

Kodiaq buying advice please...
Morning all... well spent some time looking and test driving the last few days and have now driven diesel, petrol, DSG and manual... SWMBO struggled with the DSG and really didn't get on with it at all. She might get used to it but I could see she really wasn't keen. Conversely she jumped in the manual and was off and away no problem - she reckoned it was just like the Octavia but higher. She was also more than happy with the performance of the 1.4 petrol in a manual and, whilst I would prefer a bit more in reserve it seemed to cope fine with some of the steeper hills we negotiate and was very quiet cruising at 70+ and was still able to pick up speed above that on some long uphill dual carraigeways. So Petrol manual it is... Spec-wise we were originally looking for SEL for obvious reasons but have seen an SE with a few factory fitted optional extras fitted that seems to tick the boxes and appears to have been well looked after (low mileage, good bodywork, no damage inside, 4 decent new tyres etc.). It has the main features we were after but obviously not the electric boot (not really too fussed on that) or the LED lights (which is a shame). Hence the decision is in the balance at the moment as it's low mileage, on at on a good price and substantially cheaper than most SEL's we've been looking at. So the lower price would allow me to add some further goodies that we would probably add to an SEL anyway (eg reversing camera / towbar / mudflaps / better headight bulbs etc). The only downside is a low-ish trade in value for the old one (can;t be faffed selling it provately like I have with previous cars). Decisions decisions. PS - any idea what can be 'added' or 'tweaked' by VCDS / OBD11 etc. on a 2018 SE? - I'm sure there will be stuff hidden away that just needs activating...

Interesting point - but was it more a case of they found a loophole in the emissions requirements / testing regime and found a way of using it to their advantage. That's what a good engineer will do! Personally, whilst I haven't been directly affected, I have no issue with what they did and even if I had would certainly not be looking for compensation as the vehicles still functioned as intended in terms of transportation and I would not have suffered any direct 'loss' as a result...

Kodiaq buying advice please...
Cheers for the info... I am erring towards a DSG SEL but do need to drive one back to back with a manual. As for length the kodiaq is apparently 4697mm and the superb estate 4862 so not much in it but our current on is 4572 so the SWMBO reckons the Superb is too big...
