  1. Cheers jonro. i'm starting to think about the 1.5 rather than go for a diesel. I don't do big miles but like the torque of a diesel. Think I need to take one for a test drive.
  2. What is the car like to drive with 1.5. Does it struggle when loaded up with 5 adults or a boot full.
  3. Have ford stared to fit the 2.0 turbo from the octy vrs and the golf gti??
  4. You are not daft for not taking GAP. All gap proves is, that the insurance system we must have by law doesn't work. Any out of pocket you may have you can claim back from the other guy using your own insurance and don't let them tell you otherwise. If they do, they have miss-sold you. That is the whole point of it.
  5. I would say they have it spot on, apart from one point. I wouldn't say they come generously equipped, when you compare what you can get from other manufacturers for the same money. That's one the main reasons we are seriously considering a ford mondeo titanium 2.0 diesel auto 4x4 over a octavia vrs diesel.
  6. It's the same style as the middle box. And now I'm freaked out looking at tha picture with all the locking keys lol.
  7. The original ones look like the m14 spline but only bigger. Can I get bigger plastic caps from skoda. I'm not sure my OCD will be happy with one nut a lot bigger on each wheel.
  8. Have you thought about using Rivet nuts and bolts to ease removal if the panel needs to come off again.
  9. The ones I have been sent look like ones in the car clinic picture. The number inside the cap for the locking nut is, 1Z0 601 173A. The problem is the original lock nut is 20mm diameter and the new is 24mm in diameter.
  10. Is there different versions of the locking wheels nuts. I ordered some new ones for my mk2 2008 Octavia vrs. The ones that arrived are bigger, that the plastic cover won't go over the top. I was sent 000 071 597C
  11. Mine is doing the exact same thing, cheers guys.
  12. if it has a leak, I would bet money the lower front of the condenser has a hole in it. It's a very common fault with the vrs due to the large gaps in the lower grille.
  13. Both the pipes have o-rings on them to make the seal. You can get these easily and the job of changing them is simple but a bit awkward. You will need a hex bit the get the bolts out, once out pull the pipe directly up.
  14. I was looking into getting a new mk3 octavia vrs. Having read all this topic, I E-mailed the dealer I was in comunication with, that I was no longer interested in a skoda car and gave this topic as my reason. Ok some on here might think what's it got to do me when I'm looking at Octavias not superbs. It's the principle, the way Skoda UK are treating the customer, OK NCD might have broken some agreement of some kind but they should have not taken any more orders and not cancel the orders already built. All they have done is loose customers and future ones and put a bad taste in people's mouth over the way They are treating "Customers".
  15. Hi glosrich. I gave broad speed a try plus others, the cheapest I could see for a std vrs diesel hatch is about £21000.
  16. Cheers guys, there a nice quarts met grey one down in Perth. Will phone tomorrow and see what price I can get it for.
  17. As per the title, was satnav an option on the octy vrs. The wife and myself have been looking into getting a new mk3 Diesel VRS hatch and looking at late 15 and 16 registration cars. I was under the expression it was always a factory fit but I noticed last night on a Nov 15 car that it does not have it. If any members on here know of any dealers with self orders coming that are quarts grey or silver, would be much appreciated.
  18. I have an MOT due very soon, my rear bushes on the suspension are pretty cracked and I don't know if it will pass the mot. What I was looking for is, an online catalogue ( digital parts book version) for meyle parts that shows you the rear suspension and all the part No,s from a diagram, I've found the meyle site but that only gives you the individual part and a description.
  19. Opening a new business is the easy part. Are you a mechanic to trade, do you understand the diagnostic side of vehicles, any mech can plug in a machine but actually understanding it is another matter. I don't mean to cause upset, just being honest, I have mechs my area who use these machines and don't have a clue what it's telling them. Especially when the fault is not related to the fault code there getting and can't work out why.
  20. Having worked in the parts industry, they will make it hard as possible for you. Don't give in.
  21. I don't see why not. If it's an OE spoiler and fitted but an approved skoda body shop and its left on at the end of the pcp. Only the finance can give the yes or no.
  22. I worked out how to remove the rear door handle. On the door edge you will find very small grommet, remove this, then you will see a T20 torx head set screw. Turn this lefty loosen till it stops, the end cap next to handle will be loose, remove this. To remove the handle part, hold it against the car, pull to rear of car. You will feel it move then pull it out and keep going and the forward section will then come out.
  23. I'm in the Karcher camp, one problem with the domestic range is the hose you get with it, is far to short. So you have to buy an extension hose that can cost a lot. I bought the one lidl sells and it fitted my Karcher hose.
