  1. I change up quite quickly, depending on driving style obviously. Normally switch to 6th just over 50mph or if gliding down a hill. Sometimes put it into 6th at 40, if the traffic ahead is constant and there's decent gaps between the traffic.
  2. What does the Edition 30 offer over the normal GTi?
  3. Q: Hey mate, Just a query, I noticed from your description that you promise poontang a plenty with this car. I also noticed you're based in shrewsbury, about twenty miles from where I live. I know from experience that shrewsbury isn't really the sort of place where easy snatch is a scarcity, shrewsbury girls I've experienced would jump on your custard chucker if you buy them a bag of chips. Could you guarantee this vehicle would provide able mutton flaps in other parts of the country, where the girls stench trenches are less akin to a yawning hippo? Many Thanks mate. Ryan
  4. "Forget Match.com this delightful little two seater is your direct ticket to a plethora of punani" haha that is genius
  5. Good shout, but you have to be very careful with the Mazda MPS range regarding the tax. Get one the wrong side of 2006 and the tax will be ~£480
  6. Ah right, thanks for this info. I really hope it's not the compressor, otherwise looking at a big bill?
  7. Hi all. My Aircon unit has just started to play up and hums/vibrates (can feel it a bit when clutch is down). The strange bit is that it only does this when it's on AUTO. When it's on ECON it's absolutely fine. I'm guessing I may have had this issue a while ago, but having only used ECON over the summer, it's only become apparent until now. Any ideas what this might be? Thanks,
  8. How did you get caught by the way? Gatso etc or Police trap?
  9. Yeh, I'll continue to monitor it and get it checked out
  10. I know, it's concerning. Quite possible a problem with the Turbo then? Unfortunately I've only had the car since about February this year and love it, so really don't want to get rid of it
  11. Mines using way too much... it was topped up the max line at my last service at only 2 or so weeks on (doing over 1000 miles), it's 3/4 of the way down to the min :(
  12. Mine doesn't really do this. I just open it up and you might get like 1 splash into the boot, but the rest just runs off down the 'slides' to the side of the boot
  13. ---------------------------- Sorry, hijacking the thread a bit here. My vRS has been using quite a bit of oil and as a result I'm a bit concerned by it. I've recently had it looked at, serviced (also changed to annual servicing so oil changed) and no faults have been picked up, leaks etc. The next stage I've been told, would be to have my turbo checked over for any turbo seal issues. Slightly worrying as I know this kind of work can cost quite a bit of £££! To give you an idea of how much it's using, I had my oil topped up at my service about 2 weeks ago: Miles Drive since service: 1100-1200 Oil Used: Max Level down to 1/4 above the Min level, so 3/4 of the guage. Can anyone give me some advice on what else might be the possible cause, before I fork out for Turbo checks?
  14. Sounds good, what sort of gains did you get from the stage 1 on mk2?
  15. Think you and Johnny are getting confused over the Eagle F1 tyres. The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 1 tyre was not all that good, but the Asymmetric 2 tyres are fantastic
  16. What do you mean by 'custom'? I've had a chat with them about the testing, so confident that will all be done properly. What did you think of your remap though, has it been worth it? Good performance increase?
  17. Had a look on the search and couldn't find too much on this. I'm getting tempted into a remap for my Mk2 vRS and my local VAG specialists use the DNA Remapping. Details below: http://www.dnatuning.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=112&Itemid=255 Stage 1 gives: +49bhp +80nM Torque Price: £299 + VAT (can get this cheaper as local VAG specialists have offered discount) Just wondering if anyone has got one on their motor or knows anyone that has and can give any comments on them? If anyone's got any dyno graphs as well, that would be awesome
  18. ** I took my vRS in for a service yesterday, the usual oil change etc. and since having this done, my car has noticeable reduced in noise level! For anyone interested, I swapped over from Interval servicing to Fixed servicing, so obviously the oil is now different (i've been topping up with Castrol Edge 5w-30 and it's now using the VAG recommended Quantum 5w-40). Also worth mentioning that the mechanic at the VAG specialist I go to, noticed that the oil filter was missing a part!! The worst bit is that my car had full skoda service history before I bought it, so don't always count on the dealership being useful!
  19. Yes it's a protection. If you read really closely on the tyre, it actually says that. As above, will take a little while to wear in, but confident they will be much better than your Conti Sport 3's. They are amazing in the wet, which most people should consider as no1 priority, due to the amount of rain here in the UK
  20. PCV won't just cause it to be loud mate. When the PCV valve goes, the car will play up. Mine went and the car would rev to 1.5k revs at idle and come back down again without engaging any of the pedals.
  21. I recently had the same thoughts thinking mine was too loud and this was because my PCV valve went recently which caused the car to be very loud, but actually I'm told it's perfectly normal with the TFSI engine. Could be a problem if it's loud when your actually at a stop inside the car, but otherwise shouldn't be an issue.
  22. Surely getting rid of the DPF would be better, purely to remove the potential £1-£2k cost of it going wrong
