  1. Finally went ahead this week and had the Eibach Pro-Kit fitted (lowers the front 20mm and the rear 10mm) and I'm very pleased with the result. The car rides the bumps better and yet the handling is firmer / sharper. The lowering of the car is just about spot on as the car now looks like it should have done when it rolled out of the factory (the 19" extremes now fill the arches nicely) - why Skoda (and a lot of other modern cars) insist on producing sporty cars on stilts is beyond me. Great value and service for the work at AMD Tuning, Essex - price included springs, fitting and 4 wheel laser alignment afterwards (which is a must).
  2. Shocking customer service... My 15 plate vRS with nearly 12k on the clock shows nothing like that sort of wear if that helps your case (full leather seats).
  3. My vRS TSI DSG now has 11k miles and certainly appears to be returning better fuel economy than when it was new - journey today on the M4 / M25 (in Eco mode at 70mph) returned 44mpg. Quite impressed with that. Most "normal" journeys commuting etc it returns 30 - 35mpg which isn't too bad.
  4. My Columbus sat nav seems to be obsessed with trying to guide me down single lane country roads, presumably thinking it is the faster route, when in reality some of the roads it takes me down are barely passable and you're limited to about 10mph!! Is there a way in the settings / route options to avoid small single lane roads? Looking at the options and the user manual it there appear to 3 options - economical / shortest / fastest. All of them still appear to favour single lane roads!! Any advice?
  5. Boot capacity sold it for me. Had a mk2 Blackline estate and chopped it in for a TSI vRS estate as I wanted to swap to the DSG box. Love it.
  6. I'm thinking about getting the Eibach pro-kit for my Estate vRS, primarily to reduce the ride height a little (stock vRS suspension has always been a bit too high for my liking). The Eibach Pro-kit looks like a good option as it only lowers the front by 20mm and the rear by 10mm - ideal for me as I don't like cars that are slammed to the ground and also, should also still allow for the car to be loaded up with camping gear! I have a couple of questions though.... 1. Will just fitting the Eibach springs damage or shorten the life of the OEM dampers (drop is only 20mm/10mm)? If so, would the Bilstein B12 pro kit be a better option (although a much bigger investment)? 2. Does anyone have any experience of how the pro kit affects the ride - better over bumps / firmer etc? 3. Does anyone have any experience of how the pro kit affects the handling? the vRS handling is pretty good as standard (just about).
  7. How can Skoda be to blame? As I say to the wife regularly (who isn't allowed to drive my vRS) just don't drive it into the bloody kerbs!
  8. Here's a useful question - whats the easiest method to de-badge without damaging the paintwork? I'm considering leaving just the vRS badge on mine....
  9. Funnily enough after initially hating it I now hanker after the meteor grey... ggrrgghh.
  10. I can achieve 42mpg on a long run sticking to 70mph (estate vRS TSI DSG). If you want to enjoy yourself of course that is more like 35 mpg. I have no.problems with the ride, pretty comfortable all round. And no, crisps or any type of food are banned from the car!
  11. Premium fuel has made no difference either performance or economy to my vrs TSI. Sticking with normal petrol from now on.
  12. Turn the key a little slower when starting and the sweep happens every time. Works on my vrs at least!
  13. Miltek exhaust wouldn't go a miss on the petrol vrs. I'm planning on one in the future although it is expensive. Petrol vrs is much too quiet in my opinion.
  14. My 1st service (Vrs TSI) was only £118. Probably not worth the loyalty card!
  15. The dealer advised me t top up the coolant and monitor it. So I topped up the coolant about 2 weeks ago to the max level - it doesn't appear to have moved since! I suspect that the level was only ever topped up to the MIN level when it left the factory......cheapskates!! I don't appear to have the "misting rear windscreen" problem (apart from nice cold mornings when the engine is cold) so fingers crossed all is well.
  16. Managed 43.5mpg on a 30 mile motorway journey yesterday sticking to 70mph. My normal 7 mile commute returns low 30's. Nearly 8k miles now on my vRS TSI DSG and economy is getting better and yes, it does fly when you floor it! Way too much fun, makes driving to work very pleasant.
  17. Hmm. My vrs tsi dsg shifts nicely into 5th approx 40mph and very quickly into 6th at around 40mph. I can achieve over 40mpg in good motorway conditions. I've always found the dsg too keen to shift up if I'm honest.
  18. The coolant level appears to be the same (min) cold and straight after a drive. Might just be a case of topping it up and keeping an eye on it.
  19. I must have bought a different car or be less fussy as none of the points on this thread annoys me at all!!
  20. I always check oil after a service and tyres regularly anyway. Never had a car where the coolant level has ever moved though (assuming it was above MIN when I got the car). Coolant is not something I've had to check regularly on any recent modern cars!
  21. Yes the health check report they gave me says the coolant was checked and all is ok. Depends whether they actually checked it and if the coolant being on the MIN level is normal. All other cars Inc previous mk2 vrs the coolant has always been on max and never changed. Something to ask the dealer on Tuesday.
  22. I regularly check the oil but maybe glance at the coolant level a couple of times a year. I can't say whether it has ever been higher than minimum if I'm honest! I guess it's a case of checking in with the dealer on Tuesday and keeping a close eye the level doesn't drop below min.
  23. Yes, registered March 15 and only has 7500 miles on the clock. If it's a water pump leak would I notice any actual leaking on the driveway?
  24. My coolant (Vrs tsi) is also now at minimum and it was only in for its 1st service a month ago (they probably didn't bother to check the coolant). Can't say I've noticed rear misting other than on a cold morning but then again I haven't really looked out for it. Seems there's 2 possible issues from reading threads on here. The turbo or a leaky water pump... Have to wait until Tuesday now for the local dealership to open :(
  25. Having read recent posts about water pump leaks and coolant leaks in the turbo I thought I'd check my coolant level and guess what? It's at the minimum level! Local garage us now closed until Tuesday. Should I wait until then to call them and keep any mileage to a minimum or is it worth calling Skoda assist? Not sure they'd be able to do anything other than take it to the local garage would they?
