Seat belt warning chimes

Featured Replies

Has anybody got any ideas on how to get rid of the chimes if you don,t put your seatbelt on after a short time as its really annoying. Can this be done?

AFAIK it can be done with Vag-com:thumbup:

Yes Dealer Can Code This Out,they Do On Police Vehicles.

As said above a friendly chap with VAG-COM (or VCDS as it is now known).

Cheers guys:thumbup:

On the MKI (i know yours is a MKII) not ALL cars could be done via VAG-COM.

The coding is there, but sometimes it doesn't work, leaving the only other way of disabling the seatbelt chime is by disconnecting the plug under the drivers seat (the one going to the seatbelt buckle).

I'm not sure if some MKII's cannot be done with VAG-COM tho'.

The chime on my MKII vRS is intermittent but i "forgot" to mention it on my recent service. ;)

It does switch off automaticaly after a while but its annoying to listen to all this time.

Why not just put your seatbelt on and then there's not a problem.

cos taxi drivers are exempt!!

cos taxi drivers are exempt!!

exempt from having accidents and flying through the windscreen?

no taxi drivers are exempt from wearing seatbelts cos someone can get the seatbelt around the drivers net and strangle them. its also if they need to get out and run (being robbed).

I worked as one for several years, yes you put your seatbelt on at 70mph but you also have some very dodgy fares which you do wonder if you gonna get to your destination in one piece and away again.

I was being a bit flippant there and understand the reasons why - it's just a doubled edged sword IMO.

Yes we are exempt in our own licensing district only but travelling out of area and motorways we have to fit our seatbelt on.Maybe i will cut a buckle of a scrap car and click it into the seatbelt stalk?

Getting it coded out is much more simple surely

They don't on ours... bloody annoying if you've a ten mile run to the nearest custody with a prisoner.

I doubt if my dealer will do it as its a safety thing but i will try them first or someone with VAGCOM near Bournemouth area might oblige:thumbup:

or I'll do it if you ever venture up the M27.

or to any of the meets ;)

I assume there's a switch in the buckle or belt mechanism? As i said, mine is intermittent. I assume the chime should sound when i remove my seatbelt and reverse into my drive? The warning comes up on the dash but the chime is a 50/50 affair....

I think the chime is speed related, I wouldn't expect it to come on reversing onto your drive.

Went to Meadens Skoda yesterday and asked them to switch off the chimes for me as they know iam a taxi driver. The guy said they were too busy today but gave me an old buckle from a seat belt to put into stalk until i come back for a service. he was thinking what i was going to do and iam happy now that the noise has gone.

Taxi drivers are only exempt when they have a fare, just as police officers are when transporting prisoners.

It is annoying as I always start the car as I am putting on my seatbelt. Its a feature I would glady get disabled on our car.
