Green stuff ones have had a bit of a slating on the octys .

Yep Greenstuff pads tend to leave deposits on the disc and cause premature warping. If you go with these, I'd recommend you get the EBC discs too. Ferrodo, Pagid and Mintex seem to be better, if they make them for the Fabia :)

The sponginess is the main thing I'd expect the brake upgrade to improve
Better fluid will make a significant difference to the pedal feel
and the squirming I had hoped would be solved with a suspension upgrade.

Yep, although in the meantime, you can get a full geometry check done as they might not have sorted this after your accident. Does the squirm mean the car does not brake in a straight line?

Chris

The Furby brakes feel so crap after driving the Octy. I also think the ABS kicks in too happily..

Me too

When you brake suddenly you can really feel the weight shifting upsetting the car - better suspension improves this but mine still does it a bit.

Maybe its the heavy engine up front??

Spongey is THE word.

Too spongey in fact.

Once when I slammed on the anchors at high speed I had to apply some oposite lock. Which was nice :D

Yeah I think that's the main reason. Have you tried running your dampers slightly stiffer on the fronts to compensate? :)

It was a similar situation braking hard as possible from 135 (kmh.. ovbiously ;) ) that i realised that the brakes were scary... i really had to put all my weight on the pedal.. and they just overheated and faded in a matter of seconds. jon saw the smoke coming off them

now its much much better... as shown on the trackday :D who was it who went out with the fabia and cooked the brakes to nothing in 3 laps? (it was silver) and smelled awful. :o
