My Furby has new suspension

Featured Replies

Eibach -30mm springs (TDI ones, not vRS) and Koni adjustables

First impressions - the ride height is improved but there is still quite a gap - I suspect it will take a while to settle

Body roll - hurray - cured - no more sea-sickness

Ride - firmer, but strangely better - rides uneven surfaces very well. Seems a bit choppy at high speed on poor roads - might have a play with the Koni settings

Overall it feels like a hot hatch now, not slammed or ridiculously stiff, just sporty

I'll post a few pics once its settled in

Springs were

How much for fitting?

How is the ride height? You say its still a little high, but is it even front to rear? Mine took a little while to settle at the front.

Glad your happy with the ride though. Give it a little while then have a play with the settings on the Koni dampers.

Pics please :)

Mate who works at a garage did it for a tenners worth of beer

IMO not a DIY job - the front shocks need a lot of force to seperate from the thingeybob near the brakes

It took them 2 hours

Front vs rear is fine - very level

Front feels a bit softer than the rear, even though they are all on softest settings - I'm going to stiffen the fronts up a bit

Thats what ive done, might tweak the backs up just a bit when I do the rear brakes.

But if I were you id let it all bed in before adjusting.

Yes Ok Colin you've got some nice wheels (which I haven't got) do you have to post that pic everywhere. At least post different pics :D

Must stop myself from going to halfrauds for that 20% off deal.

Dam you have posted some different pics.

Colin, all you need now is mobtob's suspension and job done.

Would the Konis be good enough to handle the vRS eibach springs that are allegedly much harder?

Well they have been on a couple of days now;

A lot of my commute is on very poor country roads, and the car is now miles better - more comfortable :D  , much better cornering ability, more planted as I think Ross said before.

I have a small issue with the front end - feels a bit too bouncy, especially on smooth roads with large dips, but I'm going to leave it a while before I tweak it. Hopefully stiffening the front shocks will cure it

Ride height - close up there is still quite a gap in the arches, but stand back and the car is more squat, very nice. From inside the car it feels a lot lower - very odd

Hopefully I'll be able to post pics tonight

I found the front end a little bouncy at first, half a turn on the front top adjusters and it was all in check.

Funny you should say that, thats what I did this evening, and after a quick drive it seems much better :D

Its good to hear that the ride does not suffer with the upgrade, I will likely be looking to upgrade this in the future, at least I will if I intend to remap (if not I likely wouldnt bother), and I did think that the ride would suffer with a suspension upgrade.

Yeah I was a bit worried about ride quality having lowered cars before and had fillings falling out, but the quality of the kit (especially the Konis' damping) is superb - but do bear in mind I have the TDI springs, not the vRS ones - I believe the vRS ones are a fair bit harsher

Well even if the vRS springs are harsher, it sounds like the TDI ones might be a pretty good compromise on ride / handling.
