Scamera Van Baiting

Featured Replies

Coming back down the A449 last night and there was a camera van. Wasn't really concentrating and think I may have been done. About 100 yards further down there is a cross roads and a pub. So I pulled into the pub and got the camera out to take a few pics (just incase they could be useful).

Walked up passed the van and started taking a couple of pics. As soon as the guy in the van realised I was taking pics he started packing up to leave. I then walked around the van and took a couple more pics. They guy then jumped out of the van and asked me if I had a problem. I told him that I had no problem and carried on what I was doing. He said well you must have a problem you are taking pictures. I responded that he was also taking pictures and he seemed to think it was ok. I took a couple more pictures then walked away.

He then reversed the wrong way up the footpath of a dual carriageway crossed two lanes of traffic over a gap in the central reservation and dissappeared in the other direction. Not very responsible driving from a 'safety' camera operator.

I think he may have been in a position where he was not supposed to be or was not complying with the rules they have to abide by. Anyway, if i get a ticket some investigation will be done.

All good fun

Mark

Shame you didn't film his departure - lots of illegality going on there, I think...

Wish I had your balls. I considered doing the same when I saw some 'Parking Attendants' parked in a hatched area, and then later stopped on double-yellows. Had my camera with me and everything, but didn't dare. Might have been bolder if Mrs Ap0gee and Ap0gee Jr weren't with me, though... :o

Cheers peeps. Though i suppose the reality of it is that I should have been concentrating on how fast I was going!!! :o

Between Gailey (Spread Eagle) roundabout and the next set of lights as you go south. Just before the pub on the Four Ashes cross roads.

Oh yeah. Luckily i don't need to drive that part, just the bit through Penn and heading towards Kidderminster but i will need to keep an eye out for those vans in future.

You've just reminded me, I'm expecting a love letter in the post by next saturday from a nice man that was parked up on a motorway bridge. Hey hoh.

Actually you have also just reminded me...... While driving into Stoke on Trent along the A50 i saw a van on a bridge with the side doors open and what looked like a camera and operator. Fairly sure was it was one of those 'incident support' van/vehicles you see on m'ways and dual carriageways. Are they using these vans now for speed trapping or could they have been doing traffic monitoring or similar?

was he a policeman? if he wasn't he's illegal anyway....

home office rules state that a REAL policeman must use his own "judgement" to decide if someones is speeding before pulling the trigger of the laser device.....

some authorities are using "civil servants" to man scamera vans, if this was the case, go to court and get it thrown out, the tell the local paper and write to the cheif constable.....

Post the pictures up :D

Good Job.

Picture in this Weeks Autoexpress of Welsh Plod Hiding in a Horse Box using a laser gun.......

That and a bit further south as you approach the M54 is a popular site.

surley parked in front of a crash barrier is a potentially dangerous place to park... the crash barriers are there for a reason!

Keep us updated mate :)

81 in a 70? About 2 mph over what they NORMALLY allow (10% +2).

I quite agree. It seems a less than suitable position. I noticed they were there again today but in a different (and seemingly more suitable) spot.

Unfortunately I didn't have my camera or I would have stopped again.

I'll keep you updated.

I don't see any camera signs in your pictures prior to the van itself ;)

I think there are some signs half a mile or so before the van. Will check though

the problem is is he has crossed over a solid white line which i believe is illegal unless your vehicle is broken down, that is what i was told when i parked like that once

Need to get a traffic warden outfit and slap a £60 fine on their windscreen

Good plan. I'll dig it out from the back of the wardrobe. Keep it for weekends away ;) !! :D

did anyone watch the complainer where he clamped a clamper lol, it was great, the look on his face trying to say you cant clamp me, he said well your blocking my vehicle whilst your clamping me, and clamped him...great!!
