Golf R32 brakes on an Octavia

Featured Replies

Just a quick question about these. Do the 334mm discs and twin piston calipers fit under stock 17" Octavia rims? In theory they should but I don't know whether the rim has sufficient clearance to teh sides of the caliper. According to UK MK4's, they say that they should fit 17" wheels but would that include those on the vRS? All help appreciated!

  • hasent jbs got the R32 brakes on their 600bhp monster? hmm? do they just bolt onto the octy vrs easy? lol ish? :orb_boss: i wonder what evil price vw would come up with if you wanted nice new bits :o

  • Tried reading this thread? :P

  • Why are you shouting?

I was told that they will fit ok ;)

Not cheap though

Ok, thats good to knoq although i'm coming after you if they don't! They may not be cheap but they work as well as any Wilwood kits and have the added advantage of looking stock.

Very interesting.

What would I need from the MK4 R32? I assume the disks, callipers and carriers.

Would I need anything else?

I was told about £500-£600 second hand

IIRC I've seen people being quoted £600 for discs and pads from VW!

so ontop of them youd have to be brave enuf to ask them for caliper prices ? and brake lines? or would the octy 1s stay? and carriers? lol a dangerous shopping list to go to vw with lol i will do it at some point to see, brembos gt kit is a grand so i wonder how it matches up?

Yup, I would prebook the councelling for when they tell you the price of the calipers & carriers! The Octavia brake lines have also different fitting but R32 ones are too long due to odd routing so you need to get some custom ones made by Goodridge. Expensive is about the best description of it although it's cheaper than hitting something because you couldn't stop in time ;)

im begining to feel a sweat already, maybe i should keep on track of the brembo turismo kit lol in a box and just that lil bit painful lol not axe weilding gona kill your family scary priced lol :orb_devil

would i just email them with the 2 car detail do you think? lol i wonder if it would cost to thnk about it lol

You mean for the Goodridge lines? If so then I think they actually have an off the shelf kit designed for the conversion for somewhere around their usual price.

ooo really?to ask sumin dumb? what kinda price is that lol a small chip off the oe r32 calipers and carriers lol

i didn't think they fitted as the caliper caught the back of the wheels? maybe completely wrong though.

im guessing? but would it depend or the rims you got? im still pretty sure its the set up jbs run on their black monster?

i would either make the most of the 312's with awesome pads and fluid or get the brembo's myself as even though the brembo discs are expensive(about £115 per side plus pads!) they are still cheaper than the R32 ones and probably work just as well, only trouble is being 4 pots they don't fit behind the wheels without spacers.

sorry i meant to say that thats with standard 17" wheels.

should be safe behind my 20s then lol

just check that you do have enough space between the caliper and the wheel.

should be safe behind my 20s then lol

You might still need spacers though ....

maybe the brembos would be a easier option? least they have a template to see if will fit or not :orb_mad: pesky r32 calipers. if anyone bumps into jbs at inters maybe 1 of ur will remeber to ask if they use spacers for their rims lol

just hope the weather forecast is wrong , they say heavy rain for the weekend :orb_sad: gutted

That really is the issue for me and why i've gone down the route I have. a) I don't want to use spacers as that would cause rubbing with 225 tyres IIRC and B) they don't look remotely stock. If I end up going down the route of 4 pots then it would likely be the Boxster kit but with it needing 15mm spacers on either side that would probably mean that i would have to revert to 205 tyres rather than the 225's and that's something i don't really want to do.

The R32 kit would appear to be the one for me as it looks stock, gives trememdous power if bedded in properly and in theory should fit behind the face of the OEM wheels without spacers.

Lloyd, there won't be an issue for you with clearing those calipers to the inside of the rim but they may still struggle to fit behind the face of them depending on the rim's profile.

If I do get things sorted then I'll give a full run down on how it's gone!

awesome mate, it def worth a thought , spacers i def dont wana be going into.

are you planning to get all the bits from vw new? and are you planning to diy it?

If I can get my AP 6 pots behind a standard wheel without spacers I'm sure you'll be okay with the smaller 4 pot brembo's......I would've thought anyway!

I would have thought so too but apparantly not and 15mm is needed on each side!

I will probably try to get some matching two piece discs from somewhere like Godspeed, use new pads & goodridge lines and then have a think about the calipers. If I can get hold of some used calipers and rebuild them then so much the better but I'll probably end up going down the new route. What sort of value is there in the stock front vRS brakes? The discs and pads have about 4k on them...every penny helps towards the new setup!
