Dbilas TFSi Air Intake

Featured Replies

It should be easy to tell if the filter makes a difference over OEM on a mapped car. If anyone has ordered one do speedo timings for before and after say the 60-100mph. Standard car with just a map on a calm day on a straight road does it in 6.8-6.9( mine does) secs. I would expect to see it go down to 6.5 secs if the filter does what it supposed to do and give 15bhp?

Cheers for the answer to the original question stu. I ran a universal carbon cold air intake on the mk1 rs, with far better sound and I got the blow off sound too!

Mrs B caught me drooling over the picture in the first post too....

If anybody wants to get any hard evidence of the Dbilas system there is a guy on SCN ruinning one on his Cupra, can't remember his forum name but you can investigate by search and see...........From memory he rates it, but then again there are plenty who rate the Carbonio......

What about the air intake from a ed 30 car? Would it be easy to fit on a normal 2.0TFSI? They must have good enough air flow if the remapped cars are making 300bhp+? Another plus would be none of that induction noise that some people might not like than that with the EVOM's.

Same intake - Built into the engine cover the same as yours. Only thing that might be different is the paper filter but I doubt it.

Ok, so the OEM is good for 300bhp worth of air so I don't understand why intakes like EVOMs etc make a difference on a normal 2.0TFSI under 300bhp. These are basically just for the noise?

Some things you just have to accept as tried and tested Micky.

The ED30 uses a K04 turbo to create it's 230/240/250/260 or more power, the Octy has it's weedy asthmatic brother the K03.

.....................and in fairness I've not seen a mapped ED30 produce over 300bhp on a reamap alone, has anyone come to that?

The problem is i have been doing some searches on the net regarding the EVOM's. It seems as many say it doesn't do anything for performance as some say it does.

Ok the ED 30 uses a bigger turbo but it also needs the air to make it work as it's going to use more air than the normal 2.0 TFSI turbo so it looks to me the OEM intake is up to the job.

They are making 290 ish bhp on standard intakes.

I don't understand your point though Micky, surely if you are happy with your current intake performance and think it is capable of giving you maximum power then there is no need to replace it and hence no need to be considering other options.

For me I know the EVOMS works - I have seen it proven with my own eyes, I don't need any convincing and I'm certainly not going to start trying to convince you to buy one.

Not bad for a stage 1 car though eh :D -

Did you Dyno the car before and after the intake was fitted? Also a car will always seem quicker if it is noisier and more raw. BTW nice figures:-)

My point was that the standard intake is able to supply enough air for a bigger K04 turbo and yield circa 300bhp results. That is what puzzles me.

Not on this occasion, it was done some time ago, Chris Ellis car IIRC. Since then I believe JKM have RR'd a couple too. We saw around 12 - 15hp increase with the EVOMS, not so much with the VF Engineering however the VF was tested on a non mapped car.

I kind of agree but you are talking about two different types of hardware, the K03 and the K04.

Stu, mind me asking, what other mods are done to the car? Fuel pump etc exhaust etc? I got a nice shiny miltek cat back delivered today. I noticed the quality has improved on these over the years.

i wouldn't touch dbilas stuff with a barge pole, they are erally poor quality and quite expensive too for what they are

I'll PM you.

Hello to all for starters. To be honest reading this thread was one of the reasons for me to register. I have a Seat Leon Cupra 2 and installed EVOMS v-flow among other CAIs. Been reading all the good comments and all the excitement and awe from v-flow owners I thought it worth the try.

The first disappointment for me was the material used, as I said I tried many intakes, but paying so much for a piece of plastic pipe is not worth it. For that money they should use an all aluminum pipe and cover it with heat resistant material. Next is the fixture & fitting, effective and simple I must admit, but for that money they should think of something better.

The position of the filter is not optimal, as it hangs right behind the headlight and air flow is pretty limited there. It may allow the air from the OEM air duct flow through but that air aims the end of the filter and not the front - plus the filter is pretty unprotected from water under heavy rain conditions. If you run it for a while you'll find spots and stains of mud all over the filter.

Last but not least the sound - the sound is bad, it is too loud, too unpleasant (at least from inside the car) to drive around. I like my car sound sporty but this is not a pleasant sporty sound at least for a road car. It sounds like you drive through pools of water with speed and water hits the underneath of the car. Imagine having that while driving for hours.

Performance-wise, after a remap it gives pretty much the same performance as many other CAIs - don't expect too much from an intake in any case - other parts are more important. Overall they (EVOMS) provide a good kit (intake, shield, engine cover) but I wouldn't consider it as the winner intake.

I have nothing against EVOMS nor I am biased for someone else's intake, but as an enthusiastic tuner I express my opinion and point out what I didn't like from v-flow cold air intake.
