Driv3r

Featured Replies

Anybody here got the gamefor the PS2 or xbox? Seen some screenshots and they look promising but is it actually any good? Any advice before I splash out

Dont bother.. it sucks, get GTA: vice city instead :D

its good for about 10 minutes before the fun of being chased by coppers wears off... GTA is a much better game in every respect!!

Gamespot Review

Your talking rubbish man! I was blown away by GTA3. But vice city just bored me to tears and i stopped playing it after a few hours.

I have 5 new ps2 games on the go at the moment and Driv3r is the one which has stayed in the machine for the last week or so - it's excellent (if a little difficult)

If you like the idea of GTA then buy it you wont be disappointed. :D

don't buy it, it's so unfinished and full of bugs. A mate bought it and gave it to me after a day cause it was so bad...

Another rush release :(. Both the developer and publisher are to blame :thumbdwn:.

unfortunately driv3r is a wasted oportunity

how come they say they emfasized on realism with weights of cars etc

and still have no gearbox?

and the driving is the good part..

it is the out-of-car gameplay that really sucks..

movement of the character, aiming, collision-detection all suck big time

and the frame rate on the xbox sucks.. no fluidity at all, and cars keep poping up 10 meters in front of you...

i had high hopes for the game, but now that i have it, I really cannot recomend it to nobody..

pitty..

Hmm may have to go down to Global and rent the thing and make up my own mind. Liked the first one, it was unreal at the time and the best game around for a long time. The second was good but the cities felt very detached, perhaps because it was developed for the PS1 which couldn't cope with all the data like a PS2 or Xbox could. There was hardly any traffic at all in Chicago, and it was just generally dull. It was still enjoyable never the less. The GTA series have been good, but there's a lot more artistic licence with it than the driver series. IMHO The Getaway stole drivers crown, as it is a superb game and london is resonably accurately modeled.

was wondering about Driv3r, but wanted to know alittle more about it, dont think i'll bother now.

here in athens we have like 40c degrees.. that is very hot!!

so I stayed in, and spend some more time with driv3r

ok, my previous comments still stand

the handling of the character during out-of-car gameplay is really bad.. like plastic and sticky, too

the plot is interesting, and one may get used to it and even like it..

I just wanted to say that, because I dont like to be unfair..

still, its no-way as enjoyable as GTA, which I think is the milestone for all these simmilar games....

I heard that spiderman2 just out on the consoles manages to create an equal if not better atmosphere to that of GTA..

free roaming in the city, doing stuff whichever order u like, etc

well, ok, u drive no car(I think), but heck, you are spiderman!!

Speaking to my mate who has the game he says it's quite good plot wise, and the cars in game are good, but GTA series is better, and the Getaway even better.

the Getaway?? please elaborate on that.. xbox?

Try www.thegetaway.co.uk

Basically a driving/shoot-em-up based in London working against a London Gang. London is incredibly realistic and the cars are all real models.

Have to add me tuppence worth (

You should try Mafia. It's best on the PC but IMO it's better than even GTA. You play a gangsta and you get to drive loads of really old 30s cars round a massive American city (blatently New York) and do loads of varied missions that require all kinds of different skills. It's best on the PC and you need a pretty powerful one to run it well :) Great story though....like being in your own film ;)

Mafia is one of my fave games ever on the PC! I couldn't put it down until i finished it. It uses the GTA engine but is much better to control as it's on the PC :)

And i like the replay value they have added in at the end... all the little games and stunts... FreeRide Extreme :D
