Horners Manchester in Administration - Merged

Featured Replies

I understand Horners Manchester have gone in to administration.

Not sure if other sites within the group are affected?

Blimey! That's news to me! I would think it's the whole group that's gone in to administration.

I suspect Simpsons in Colne and Preston would be happy to take any sales or service enquiries.

I think their phone numbers are 01282 864266/01772 202070.

And I just a test drive request for a Roomster!!!

Good to know Andy, cheers. I got reasonable service from them when I've needed it and it's always a shame to see this happen anyway.

And good of Ant to give the poor Skoda people of Manchester some alternative - very public spirited ;)

Steve

In administration doesnt mean bust, what it means is business as usual for now and the administrators will try and sort things out. I do agree though, it usually is the start of the end.

Oooh shame!!!!!

Sorry to hear it

Is this the start of more to come with the time we are in (credit crunch)?

Or could the good pricings of Skoda be the good buy in the long run :rubchin: time will only tell

I have heard that it is far from business as usual at the moment, but it would be unfair of me to comment on specifics.

As has been said I wouldn't wish it on anybody and it could realistically, happen to literally anybody.:(

Never one to miss an opportunity eh Ants

Fair play to ya though mate, I'm afraid as said above it is normally the beginning of the end and I certainly wouldn't have the confidence to hand over a deposit or anything.

IMHO credit isn't available so people are not buying so many cars.

Skodas are no longer cheap compared to fords and vauxhalls etc

Skoda dealers on the whole don't seem to give two hoots once they have your money. There are a few excellent ones out there, so there will be some of the less good ones going under.

What this lot are like I have no idea.

Read the dealer reviews, its "enlightening"

I know you're bear-ier than a B.F.O. brown furry thing that ****s in the woods (like me) but according to the SMMT, new car sales were only down 6% last month (although there was a 12% drop in private sales). IMHO, most of the companies with current problems only have themselves to blame. Businesses with poor strategies and/or badly run and reliant on credit - over borrowed takeovers, rapid expansions, glass palaces, any customers with a pulse etc. Just look at Pendragon and Lookers

you sure Ants

you sure Ants

not 100% sure, I'll check their website (Welcome to Simpsons Skoda).......

goes to check......

Ah, yes that's the correct numbers

I also believe, that other dealerships are available, but my memory is poor and I can't remember any of these, oh well, never mind eh?

Walked on to Horners Skoda Manchester forecourt today to be greeted by 3 miserable members of staff. i asked about testing an Octy VRS to which I was basically told were to go. Turns out Horners Motor Group went into administration this morning. Sorry to any members of staff out there who might be reading this.:(

Well, seeing as how Simpsons phone number is written across the back window of a large proportion of the Skodas sold in the UK these days (including mine) it wouldn't take most of us long to check.

Frankly, if Horners did deals half as good as Simpsons, maybe they wouldn't have gone into administration.

Just a thought.

And I drove past the dealership this evening (4pm) and all the shutters where down, locked up.

After my recent Horners Manchester experience when sourcing a Fabia I can't say I'm surprised. A shame for the few good folk that work there (Brian in sales springs to mind, an oasis of customer service in an otherwise arid environment) but overall I'd say it was to be expected.

When I first set out to look for my fabia VRS I went to the Manchester showroom and test drove one. I gave them my budget and they said they would "definately find me something, and give me a ring"........ That was 14 months ago and I still haven't had that phone call (bought privately in the end)! Personally I dont like slagging people off especially when people are going to be losing jobs but with that kind of customer service its no suprise really!

Sounds very much like what happened when I went into Gorners just before they went down the Swannee...

Even easier go to Parkside Skoda in Bolton, good service friendly staff, and they have a Skoda Master Technician. Their telephone number is 01204 520538. And yes I did work at Bury, so I will look after you here.

Oooh, here we go: Parkside vs. Simpsons - Briskoda showdown :D

;)

Play fair boys, don't forget Claybank in Eccles, 0161 788 0471

Other skoda retailers are available, your car may be at risk if you do not keep up repayments, yadda, yadda.

After all the recent closures of Skoda Dealers in the North West, I can almost hear the drifting of tumbleweed across the Lancashire Plain now...

I hope any affected Brisky members get issues with car orders sorted.

Blame the Gov though and their VED changes for nailing the coffin shut on many dealers already suffering due to current economical climate.

Failure to organise a drinking competition in a brewery springs to mind with that lot, based on my experiences.
