Problem Filling up Fabia :-(

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,The last two times i've been filling up i've had the same problem, when i push the trigger for the nozzle of the petrol pump, if i push it past a certain point, it will stop dispensing fuel, I do not know if this is a problem with the car or if i've just been unlucky, it has meant taking about 10 minutes standing on the forecourt of the petrol station just to fill up the car by 30 pound! has anyone else had this problem or have i just had 2 dodgy pumps at different ends of the country!? Thanks in advance,Josh

Pull the pump out slightly, should help :)

face the nozel to the back of the car, should fill up without much effort then, some pumps are a bitch!

It'll be your Technique:D!

Try partially withdrawing the nozzle (about 25-40mm) and progressively squeeze the trigger to get the desired flow.

The nozzles work on pressure coming back up the filler neck as the fuel displaces the air, The higher the pressure (fuller tank) the more sensitive the cut off will be IIRC

Happens if you run a tank right down IME. Less than a 1/4 usually.

The only problem i have filling up is paying for it!

Same here :(

Theres a garge near my house and they are very tricky to use, they are way to sensitive. I often see people going in and saying the pumps wont work

I had a few problems filling mine at first, as someone mentioned if i tilt it so its pointing towards the rear then its fine :)

I used to have a simlilar problem on an old 92 Honda Civic. Weirdly if i parked at the pumps with the fuel cap the same side as the pumps it would allways 'click' and stop filling every few seconds, no matter what angle, or how far in i positioned the nossle. It would take forever to fill up...... Yet if i i parked at the other side of the pumps with the filler cap furthest away, stretching the hose round the back of the car to fill up, i'd have no problem at all! Might be worth a try....

I've been having the same problems too, just found pulling the nozzel out slightly solves the problem!

Had this problem too. I thought I had found it only in Esso stations but also had it in Shell now. Takes ages to fill up the car!

Tried pulling out nozzle further and different angles etc.

I had this problem only at Sainsburys garages though and its only started doing it recently, strange.

It is a new feature cunningly installed on all fuel pumps by the Government. By increasing the amount of time it takes to fill you car up, it gives you more time to repent for all the CO2s you are about to emit:rofl:
