why so??

becuase there is nowhere for it to go...

also another stud directly above the driveshafts has to be removed and replaced with an M12 capscrew to fit in the recess in the bellhousing adaptor becasue there isn't enough space to get a nut on the end of the stud...

can anybody spot any potential difficulties i might face in regards to drivehafts?? :o

edit: it's not an M12 capscrew... it's an M10

Im sure the sump could live with a bit of trimmage.

unfortunately just cutting off that lug next to the diff wont give enough clearance for the cv joint, i'm going to have to do a bit of metal surgery on it :o

I wonder if an alternative sump would work?

well, curiosity has just got the better of me, and i've whipped the sump off to have a look..... i thought this engine had no oil in it..... how wrong i am..... well :rubchin: how right i am.... here is no oil in it now, it's all over the floor in my garage :o

welding cast can be a whole new ball game.

yes i know, fortunately the vw sumps weld quite well becuase they have quite high silicon content:)

welding cast can be a whole new ball game.

As can welding oily, like a used sump pretty much always is. I'm no welder (as my ex-welding instructor would testify ;) ), but I do know the importance of starting with a clean job, and the difficulty of cleaning oil tanks!

lol, sump butchery, love it.

Not had to do any of that since we fitted a 4.0 V8 into an E36 BMW, and at least that was a steel sump...lol

exhaust downpipe flange and egr valve blanking plate for the vag sdi diesel exhaust manifold

  • Author

i've found an exhaust specialist who makes exhausts for motorcycles who is willing to make a downpipe for me for cash;)

was going to use ready made elbows from jetex and weld them together but there doesn't seem any point if i can do it with one piece, i cant draw up a diagram yet till the engine is in the car though:O
