been very busy so i haven't had a chance to do that sump yet, but in the meantime i got this little weld-in lambda probe boss off ebay for £3

This thread is well cool  Will probably never attempt such a project myself, but if I ever contemplate it at least I have a better idea of what's involved :)

Addition of 'bat' to make 'batwelder'. Therefore 'now to the welder' becomes 'now to the batwelder' viz. Batman: 'Quick! To the Batmobile'...

HTH :P

(Don't knock it, I used to love those greatest of Scottish humourous exports, the Dandy and the Beano - and of course the postcard fella... :) )

strange you mention that... i've had it sat outside on my patio all afternoon brimmed to the top with water to test it for leaks, so far so good:)

it was an absolute bu**er to weld, but it came out ok in the end.. spent a good 2 hours cleaning up the welds with wire wool too because it was all blacked up..

Not much to do now surely?!

not really no, there are however a few bits missing off the engine, there's a plastic housing that goes on the end of the cylinder head which i need to find, and also i need a suitable alternator..

oh, and the coilpack is bust too

oh, and the coilpack is bust too

It appears even custom petrol cars can't get away from they hey :(

Coming along well Tom, any pics of the outside of the sump where the driveshaft will be going?

You sir are a madman and a genius!

You sir are a madman and a genius!

there's no madness or genius really, it's just engineering

all in good time:) i'm going to build up something else first for future use before the engine goes in;)

i'll give you all a little subtle clue as to what might be happening;)

EatonM45_1.jpg

did i say subtle... i meant....

Thought you were staying N/A?

Twin screw type, possibly an Eaton from a previous model cooper S, by the looks of it. I've always loved the sounds of one coming in :D

Didn't all VAG 2.0s come with one of them as standard anyway? The Fabia 2.0 did for sure, didn't it? What's so new and surprising?

;):D

Nice looking welding.

Apologies for the dumb joke (given about equal prominence to the joke, hence the timing).

And interesting idea with the huffer.

close... it is an eaton but it's not a twin screw, this is a roots type...

i'm not going to be fitting this little bad boy on there yet, but i thought it would be easier to design and manufacture the mountings whilst the engine is out
