right i've been doing a bit of thinking in regards to supercharging/alternator/drive belts and tensioning....

i think it might be posible to do a cut 'n' shut on the oe alternator mounting bracket to make the felicia 1.6 alternator fit onto it, plus i need to free up some space at the bottom... might need to drill a hole in the alternator though:O

here's the mounting bracket for the ancillary components

alternator goes at the top, air con compressor in the middle, power steering pump at the bottom

i dont need the air con or power steering so i've wielded my bodge axe and cut it down to size

the golf aternator is a slightly different shape, and the wiring plugs are different, so i've opted to use the felicia 1.6 alternator..

turned the bracket onto it's side, the top mounting point is ok to use but the bottom one doesn't line up with the bracket, so i need to drill a 8mm hole through the mounting lug on the alternator

the finished/modified alternator and mounting bracket in place with the spring loaded belt tensioner on top

:rubchin: 4 nice big mounting points on the block to work with under the alternator

fuel injection gear is starting to go on now, i'm getting dangerously close to this actually being ready to go in the car :D

I will take everything back I ever said about that nasty **** pig of an engine if you get that in there and running.

I am in awe of your engineering skills.

well the sun is shining now, so i've made a start

removed all the wiring loom, and disconnected all the stuff... it's far easier also when the bonnet is removed..

Looking good! Well impressed with this so far!

Will be a right hoot with that blower on too.

What kind of power are you expecting from it? Not even sure what that unit chucks out standard... about 110?

115 bhp std.

i need to remove the alternator and put it at the bottom of the block because it fouls on the radiator.... and bugger me, my back is hurting

Can you move the rad?

Nice Tom, I'm guessing the blower was a space issue :(

Still going well. If you want a hand next week I'm just around the corner and we still need to do that pint :)

Never mind about the blower... will still be pretty quick and will no doubt suprise a few people.

Looks tight in that engine bay... hope all goes well.

Can you move the rad?

that was my first thought too, but it was getting a bit dark, i'll have another look tomorrow

right, i've had a brainwave :rubchin:

was chatting to a mate of mine today and he quite rightly said, "if it doesn't fit you aint trying hard enough"

might need to re-engineer the mounting on the chassis to allow the engine to sit slightly further back in the engine bay
