MK1 Octy VRS zaust 'hanging low'

Featured Replies

I've got first dibs on that sale item.

Ah, that is not a usual exhaust hangar!

I replaced the back box front and rear mount, they're very cheap.

just the rubber mate, the bracket part looked fine.

Ah i see

I thought £3.50 was a bit cheap for both parts!

I've just ordered both parts together for £7.50 from somewhere else.

I'm surprised that GSF where able to supply just the rubber part as the actual part no. 1J0253144J is on the metal bracket not the rubber mount!

It is the rear exhaust mount, the one that goes after the back box near the tailpipe.

I think there is another one which goes before the back box aswell, so you may need two.

If the centre mount is fine then the rear mounts have become weak and stretched over time through general wear.

So just replacing them is sufficient to stop the tailpipe sagging.

You should always check the metal centre exhaust mount hasn't snapped first though.

Hope this helps.

nath did you get this sorted in the end??! does it sit much higher now? my cars back from the bodyshop :)

Checked centre exhaust mount and it seems fine.

Then fitted new rear exhaust mount yesterday afternoon.

All seemed well, tailpipe was sitting back up into the cut out of the bumper.

Then i drove to work and back and it looks like it's already started to sagg back down a little bit! :rotz:

I only changed the one nearest to the tailpipe (number 13 on diagram), that goes after the baffle.

Looks like i'm going to have to order and fit the other rear exhaust mount (number 6 on diagram) that goes before the baffle.

You will see which one i mean on the diagram a few posts up!

Well when i've got time i will give that a try and report back to this thread.

I think it's best to change them both at the same time for the best results.
