boot shelf tip

Featured Replies

Found this out today when looking at the new superb. if you ever need to take you boot shelf out you can slip it down the back of the rear seat, their is a bit cut out behind the seat that the boot shelf can slide into meaning you dont have to leave it at home once you got rid of whatever you had in the boot. ill try and get some photos once i get my car back to show what i mean.

is this not possible on the 0cty II? or did I dream it

it is possible on octy 2 i never knew till the guy was showing me around the superb yesterday said it can only be done on two skodas the new superb and the octy 2.

It could also be done on the Mk1 Octy as well. Used the feature a few times when picking various relatives up from the airport etc.

well i learnt something new yesterday and decided to share with the world and half of the skoda garage

Octy 2 hatch or estate?

Don't your relatives get annoyed with being put in the boot

If you look at the back of the rear seat in the hatch there are 2 small tabs either side a couple of inches of the back of the back seat, the shelf then slides down the back of the seat with these tabs holdint it there

When I picked my car up from the dealers they took me round the car and showed all the 'tricks' including this one, before I drove off.

Funny how you automatically think everyone would know. Did you also know there's a hook on the left hand side of the boot specifically to carry your take away bags without spilling Chow mein all over the car.:D

I've got two of those hooks. One either side. Cost less than a fiver complete with screws. Holes already in the bodywork. So there.

i know about the hooks as i bought one to go on the other side to make it match. thanks welshbigman for explaining clearer, being without mine for the past week i havent been able to take pictures and write it as i do it kinda thing.

Strange! My Elegance came with two hooks, one on either side. Anyway, I tried out the parcel shelf storage thing - I can now see that the plastic moulding trims that the parcel shelf normally sits on either side of the car have little 'runners' which the parcel shelf can slide down and which hold the parcel shelf vertically up against the back of the rear seatback. Neat! Sure it will come in useful one day! Thanks for the tip!

no probs im kinda easily pleased with little hidden gems like that lol

Anyone got any pics of it in place ?

Not sure if this was available on the MK1, but definitely on the MK2 Golf.

The rear parcel shelf ledge that the shelf sits on did not go all the way to the back of the rear seats. When you took the shelf out it slid down between the rear seats and the wheel arch/suspension towers and held snugly by the gap in the ledge behind the seats.

lol at the blanket, take it your a pizza delivery man

Cool, so does it slide down fairly easy or is it awkward?

If you've got an estate you might also have a little covered shelf that you can fit a golf brolly in and other oddments. Sits between back seats and roller cover. Quite cool when I found it, although can't use it as have a dog guard :(

Yep got two Brollys in the Octy one and the Mk1 Fabia has the same, also with a Brolly in it (am I fixated by brollies or what... as I also have two in my desk draw and one in the boot of the MX5?)

Just tried it there, thats a brilliant tip, so simple (there always the best ones).

Is the Superb a lift back?
