Hi all,

I keep toying with the idea of getting the roof done black as I have seen it done on other yellow cars but not a Skoda.

What do you think?

Should I get it done or just leave the roof yellow??

Cheers

Davy

If your's is the one with the black stripes on the sides, I'd leave it as

it is, black roof too much imo, looks good as it is:)

you got a pic of it as it is now?

Iv been toying with the idea aswell....but i think it will just look chavy lol

dark colour roofs are normaly carbon and designed to lighten the car but i think this is like putting a VTS badge on a 1.1 saxo

I've got a black roof on mine. Looks great...........................hehehe

Do it :D

I say leave it, and get racing stripes up the bonnet and over the roof instead.

Your decision, but I say no.

Hmmm, I don't know. As Lewis said they tend to be light weight materials, hence the colour. Would be doing a black magic or a matt finish.

Maybe you could take a photo of yours and a black one from the same angle and do some photoshopping.

Or just have the whole car resprayed in a unique colour.....

I was thinking about doing my mirrors black to try and be a bit different wasnt brave enough to do my roof lol

DO IT!

I need a new anecdote to tell the chaps down the pub.

Do it, but do it so it's reversable easily. :)

Do it..!

I think it looks awesome.!

I would do it... but I have a black car. lol

Michael

Get a Star Performance RE-MAP instead ;)

Do it, I wish I had the guts to do mine.

A quick 'Chop to help you decide.....

A bit of a mixed bag, but I do like the chop, so thanks for that, it does look great but I am worried it would look a bit chavvy in some respects.

Now I am away for a wee think.

Davy

I like it Davy, but the only thing that would put me off, is the amount of people doing it these days, so it's not that "unique" a mod.

Not compared with the stripes you have etc....cant say i've seen another like yours has been done.

Your choice though, but you'll soon be at a point where you should've just bought a black one ! :D

Lewis has probably got a point here - I've lost count of the number of Novas and Saxos I've seen with matt black bonnets pretending to be carbon. But if you do do it, just get the section between the roof-rack gutters done IMO...

Still, you could always put a bonnet scoop on your roof, like the idiot I saw in an Impreza had. That and the little sharks' teeth things on the spoiler as well as the trailing edge of the roof!

Just because you can, doesn't always mean you should! :D

Black roofs do look good.

they are getting common going by the amount i've done recently.

you have to decide whether you want it done based on the looks as its definitely not a unique mod now but then neither is something like fitting octy spider alloys to a fabia but that wont stop anyone doing it because it does look good.

1 thing you will have to think about is how good your paint work is, out of all the cars i've done so far i've had two cars had bits of laquer peel with the vinyl.

both these cars were seats in yellow. i passed this info along to stevenh who was wanting me to do his octy roof and it has made him think twice, it can be fitted without damage as there are plenty precautions that can be taken but should you ever come to peel it back off, there is no guarantee that your laquer will stay attached to the roof, as i say the only cars to be affected so far are yellow ones, strange but true.

i will add in that both of the seats paintwork was fairly faded so i dont know if thats a contributing factor but i would never do anything to anyones car without making them aware of any risks that i know of.

Looks like it got a glass roof in a way from soon angles. Does the spoler go black to finish it off or would that be the finished product (not sure that the right word)

only the centre section of the roof is done, tailgate and spoiler stay original colour
