Fabia vRS colour

Featured Replies

Hi all, been a member for a while now but this is the first time in a while i've needed your help.

Problem is i'm just about to trade my 1.9tdi comfort in for a vrs, however i'm dissapointed the lack of colours available, and as i refuse to pay extra for metallic paint, plus i'm not over keen on black (always looks dirty) so i was wondering out of the remaining solid colours, yellow or red (big choice huh?) what would be ppl's choice?

Silver. HTH.

Yep silver for me too..

Tim

He doesnt want a metallic colour.

Red for a none metallic colour IMO, yellow just looks horrid IMO.

If you did wanna go for a metallic colour harder choice IMO. I have and like silver, but it shows up all the dead flies very easily and gets dirty easy, but is likely to have higher durability than black, better resale values, and shows the lines of the car better.

I wonder if the non metallic colours are any better at handling stone chips though, my bonnets already covered.

He hasn't said he doesn't want silver. What he has said is that he won't pay for it. Why not twist the dealer's arm and get silver for free? Eh??? ;)

I didnt pay for my metallic paint (although it is black)

I do like the look of Jeff's red vRS though, pretty sporty and they dont tend to fade these days as long as they are looked after.

I love black cars, but difficult to keep clean. As for silver, I think there's going to be a backlash against them in the future (apologies to those with silver cars - I've got a silver Alhambra, but that only looks good in silver and there was no choice of other colurs) and no one will want them, besides they're far too common. That leaves Red which looks terrific :thumbup: in the VRS or yellow  if you want to be brave. I went for red because I thought I might get tired of yellow - like you I won't pay extra for inferior paint!

i always think silver is a posh shade of gray lol

my wife is leaning towards yellow, only thing about that is i won't lose it in car park and it will sure get me noticed lol

I have to laugh at this "Silver is common" theory.

And i suppose red & black are rare?

Yellow isn't exactly exclusive these days too, every other Fabia vRS i see is yellow

Buy the colour you like best (or in my case can get hold of quickest :D ) and get on with enjoying the car :drive:

And as for paying for metallic paint... :hilarius:

Personally out of red and yellow I think the Fabia RS looks better in red.

:sofahide: from Graeme

Though it's true that a yellow car is much easier to spot in a car park if you happen to have forgotten where you left it :D

I totally agree.

Apologies if you thought I was knocking silver cars, as I said I've got one - not the Furby though! I think that different cars look better in diffrent colours - imagine a Corrado Red Alhambra or worse still a Black one, however you might not agree with me which is why were all individuals. I personally think that the Fabia looks good in both Red or Yellow (althouh I've never seen a yellow one in the flesh)

No need to apologise, tis all down to personal preference etc.

But the idea that x colour is "rare" is a bit silly, given the sheer number of cars on the road these days.

As for which colour the Fabia looks best in, it's not something i've ever given much thought too, as i've never considered buying one ;)

Perhaps now is the time to consider changing car with job, Geoff. :peepwall:

My order of preference was;

Black

Silver

Yellow

Red

Yes black does look dirty a lot of the time, but when clean - you really see the difference :)

For me as a non vRS/Octy owner, it has to be Yellow.

Cayenne!! :D

(really gets you noticed, doesn't it Graeme)

John.

Corrida red's too dark and grown-up looking for a sporty little car. Get yellow.

My personal choice came down to red or black as I just though the car looked better in those colours. Couldn't get much off the price as it was so I settled for not paying extra for the metallic and red it was :D

I have just bought a silver one(no extra charge for metallic), but had the choice of yellow or red too. I thought the yellow looked a little like it had already faded whilst the red looked fantastic but too attention grabbing (looked like it was speeding just parked up!). Only silver gives that q-car effect you can use and abuse every day....

Exactly my thought, but I opted for red. When it was nearing the time they told me I'd have to wait another two months (on top of the 4 months I'd already waited) so they offered me a silver one for no extra charge. Definitely looks more stealthy.

Definitely looks more stealthy.

My grey Octy (looked fantastic) was so stealthy that people seemed to have trouble seeing me coming when they pulled out of junctions ahead of me

That happens so much less with a red car :)

That's a problem with all silver/grey cars. Most of the time, most of the sky - and most of the road - is grey. Why people want to camouflage themselves in their cars escapes me.

Actually, you may have a point there, as I found out a couple of months back

Have to agree on this. My wifes car is a dark grey metallic colour and we recently used it to go away in (I rarely drive it). I couldn't believe the number of cars on the motorway that just pulled out straight in front of us as if we weren't there. I ended up driving the rest of the way with my lights on....

Depends what you're using it for I guess. I went for silver. For a start I can easily do 300 miles a day and can't be fagged with washing a black car every night. Red is lovely but my car often sits overnight in a railway station car park and needs to blend in to the background and not be too noticeable to local scrotes. Yellow is very fashionable just now, but I think that might eventually stuff residuals because you will be able to date it precisely - remember all those turquoise Cavaliers about 15 years ago? And it might be nice to be noticed, but it's quite good to be invisible too - my TVR is highly noticeable, but it means you get lots of attention from people who want to 'have a go' and also highly visible to Plod ;).

Best bit about the vRS - middle aged bird driving a seemingly innocuous little shopping hatch that can bite almost everyone on the bum

Edited to say I drive with my lights (not front fogs though :thumbdwn: ) on almost all the time anyway - so many people seem to drive half asleep now that it's as well.
