DT,

The dealerships have copies of the seprate vRS brochure along with re-prints from the very favourable lauch test from Autocar.

;) This car was producing a lot more than 180bhp ;)

- So don't believe that you car will accelerate as well until / if

you decide to have it remapped / rechipped to 210bhp+

Everything else they say about the car is right - but you do need the extra power to get the full 5 stars ***** !

When i originally went in to order the car i brought broker lists and they said they will not attempt to price match them as these cars have euro spec, eg 16 alloys, no rear wiper etc. So then turned round and said 600 off, but i think thorwing a paid of mudflaps and door sill covers is being generous.

One local dealer was not interested in matching, another difd so if they wont, shop around. UK car broker offered me a UK spec car with all the Skoda extras, ie free insurance etc & through UK dealer. Unfortunately the other end of the country. Your dealer still has some slack in the deal if you need it !!

Just to let you know, I went to see my dealer on Friday, my car was built on time and is now on route over

Glad to see another Swissol convert. Suggest you talk to Mark Underwood re the Swissol paint treatment for new cars. We had both our Octavias done by Mark & the results are absolutely stunning. It will give you a good basis for the future.

Its also a lot cheaper than other better known products, comes with a good guarantee, is applied at your house while you watch so you know its done properly & even the engine bay will get a look at!!!

Marks number in case you do not have it is 07966 713177

what is swissol?

Its very expensive but good quality car wax.

Can it be applied in the same bucket of water with the shampoo to save time and stop white marking of the plastic?

Cheers

Re Swissol

Look on www.swissol.com & then if your interested contact Mark Underwood on 07966 713177

In my opinion its far superior to anything else you can buy, OK its expensive BUT its not padded out with thinners etc like many products I could mention & the results are stunning

Select English on the left of the page & then UK, also worth getting the free handbook (one of the options at the top)

Looking over the pics in manny's gallery, im really starting to like black instead of yellow. Because my yellow vrs is ebing ordered to build in the first week of June, would i still be within my rights to change the colour to black?

I have noticed the yellows do not show their true colour in photos and must be seen in person. I really cannot decide now.

I've seen a yellow in the flesh and up close and it is not as yellow as it looks on the photos. I found it more of a warm tint, indeed mellow seems to be the best way of describing it.

Q.

Stay with the yellow cause DT - as you say the yellow looks far better in real life than in piccies

If so, could someone Photoshop a pic of a yellow RS to give it its true mellow hue? I have yet to encounter one in real life!

I agree black looks mean and evil - especially with mud stripes on it  - but I'd stick with the yellow too. It's the single RS colour that will immediately show it's a genuine RS and not just an aftermarket optical upgrade job ;)

People! when you ordered your car and it a waiting list, did the skoda dealer bother to keep you updated with the progress of the car. I.E. when the car was build was you advised of this and then advised how long it would take to be delivered. Ive just emailed my skoda dealer regarding this as I am getting nervous with the wait as its finished being build first week of june, then taking 3 weeks to deliver, which is going to come very close to the 30th june, and to take advantage of the 0% it must be resgistered by the 30th.

Mine did :D

When the order arrived in Mlada Boleslav.

When the actual production started.

When it ended.

When it got to quality control.

When it was shipped to Holland.

When it arrived at the importer's.

When he got his hands on it.

When the lowering springs were put under.

When I was supposed to come over to switch the phone kit over to the 4x4.

When Oettinger had failed to acknowledge they'd never chipped a 4x4 before.

When it would be ready.

That it wouldn't be ready because the Oettinger chip failed to appear.

When it would be ready after all.

And I expect nothing else from your dealer!! ;)

But then, very cleverly, he never in all of our phone conversations promised a fixed delivery date because of all the variables involved with this specific order...

Now that is customer service, now im starting to poo myself. How long does it take to produce 1 vrs?

In my case: order early Feb, delivery mid April, just before Easter, so almost 12 weeks.

However, there were numerous mitigating circumstances: order wasn't put in at Skoda until mid Feb because of optional sports interior package only becoming available from then. Car arrived at dealer's early April, but then they had to do the springs, make an appointment with me to take the phone kit out of the Subaru (for which, initially, I couldn't find the time) and then Oettinger messed up, costing me another week and a half.

So without any special wishes it should be 7 to 8 weeks, tops. Actual build is only a couple of days, it's the painstaking QC that takes up most time. Fortunately, I'd say.

Being bombarded with that amount of detail, but not the delivery date you wanted, is a classic example of not being able to see the wood for the trees. :D

That's why I said that I found his customer service to be very clever ;)

Had the (mis) fortune to be in Grimsby yesterday (sorry Grimsby).

As you drive in from the Motorway there is a VERY large car compound at the roadside full of VAG vehicles that have just come off the Ferry.

There was a line of about 40+ (!) Black vRS's. a few Silver, did not see any Yellow or Red.

So there is either

a) a lot of owners waiting to take delivery of their new cars

or

B) a lot of dealers with "Stock to Move"

Staying on the subject of dealer service to (prospective) customers, a friend and colleague of mine was on the phone with the The Hague Subaru dealership with regards to an invitation to our office to come over for a test-drive of the new WRX.

This is what he was told.

"We don't have it anymore."

- What do you mean, you don't have it?

"We sent the invitation one month ago. You should have called earlier."

- There's no end date on the invitation.

"But where do you live?"

- Amsterdam.

"Then why don't you call the importer in Aalsmeer directly?"

- Our company is located in The Hague, and your name was on the invitation.

"If I were you, I'd call Aalsmeer."

- And are you sure they have one for me to test-drive?"

"Dunno. Give them a call and find out for yourself."

End of conversation.

Now this is customer treatment by a dealer whose marque has seen a steady annual sales decline by 20% since 1999 (you guessed it, the year it was announced that good old GT Turbo would be replaced).

Is it me or are you also finding it hard to spot a direct relation between dropping sales figures and the above customer treatment?

I know what my final statement of that phone conversation would have been:

- Do you want me to come over to help with the rope around your neck or can you help yourself?

And perhaps a fun quiz to continue this everlasting topic:

How should you, as a potential customer, behave yourself with such a dealer if you still want to have a WRX from him within the next four weeks?

I suggest the following opening line: "I solemnly swear to come over right away to put my signature on an order contract now, for a full-options WRX - oh, make that the STi - and will not bargain my p/x. I also do not need to drive the car in advance, as I have complete trust in its fantastic performance and unbelievable road holding and all the other things stated in the brochure. Is that OK with you?"

Other suggestions are welcome, of course.

Don't even get me on dealers and their treatment  Got a new Ibiza 1.4 Sport for my wife from Motorpoint in January at a brilliant price. Slightly different spec from uk as it was an import from Ireland (5 doors rather than 3 and a/c rather than climate) but suited us. Motorpoint dealt with us fine.

Anyway, a couple of months ago when starting from cold a couple of warning lights came on including the main "engine" one. As the handbook says this is an immediate call dealer job, i called our nearest one. When my wife took it in at the appointed time the bloke basically said that he was a bit short of staff and he couldn't help - was very rude and basically said take it back to who you bought it from. My wife is a gp so needs her car and came back from dealer in tears (which takes quite a bit for her :D ). I rang them and basically got the complete runaraound from the owner of the dealer who kept coming back to the fact that I should go back to who I bought it from - he refused to accept that this was the reason for his crap treatment of my wife but gave it away by asking why we didn't buy it from them (
