Which colour have you gone for?

Congrats on your order -

I suggest you contact Skoda Customer services (tele no on there web site) to see what they say about loosing the 0% if delivery is after June - seems a bit harsh worth stating that you have placed an order - see what they say- its worth a try.

The terms from the UK Skoda site are :-

"Available for registrations between 1st April 2003 and 30th June 2003."

Sound as a pound. :D

Gap Insurance can be a good idea if you need it, but do read the summary of cover carefully. One of the exclusions states that: Cover is not provided if vehicle modifications are other than in accordance with manufacturer's specifications. If your car is stolen and recovered, and Pinnacle Insurance (the GAP Insurance insurers) find out that it has been modified, they could refuse to pay out.

On the other hand there are no restrictions in the SkodaAuto Finance HP Agreement relating to modifications, other than that the vehicle must be kept in good condition and repair. If you are thinking of changing the registration number to a personal one, you will have to pay an administrative fee of up to

Im not intending to modify it untill i have fully paid the car off. The only thing im considering is to fit my mini disc player in it. Thanks for the info but I didnt find that out at the dealer.

Is there anyone else on here that is waiting for a vRS?

Has anyone here taken out supercover- i didnt.

Horners are a very good dealers in my experience - they just really tried to

flog the GAP cover to me, and I found it rather shocking how many salesmen

knew someone who had written off their car recently ;)

I figured if I wrote my car off, the last thing I'd want to do is deal with *two*

insurance companies, and at the end of the day you can't insure against

everything. That said, my car wasn't as expensive as the vRS!

Which salesman did you deal with, out of interest? I'm assuming you went

to Manchester, not Bury...

lol Bury!

Ah, I'm sure they all work to the same policies. Did you also get the SupaGuard

demonstration with the pieces of card and the sample of Cola? :D

Rob.

  • Author

LOL they tried that! I didnt bother with superguard, is it good stuff? Do they give any gifts when u pick up the car n wax it?

Didn't opt for the supaguard as drinking in my car is punishable by death. :D

They put a big bunch of flowers in the boot, but that was about it - I'm not

sure if they do that all the time, but I'd been to the showroom once with

my other half and they'd probably figured she wore the trousers.

Which isn't true, I wear the trousers - though she tells me which ones... ;)

How long should i wait to call horners back to find out how long will the order take?

Congratulations on your order, you and I are both in the same boat now. Your dealer should be able to tell you when your car is due to be built. Mine which is black with parking sensors & cruise is due to be built in week 17, which is next week. It should then take four weeks to arrive at the dealer. Although there have been some delays with deliveries in recent weeks (rumour has it that VW

My Superb took longer than expected to get to me because apparently "Skoda have beem overwelmed by the demand for all their new cars, and dont have enough transporters contracted to them to keep up with demand."

Wheter this is true or not I dont know, but what I can tell you is that my car was in the country about4/5 weeks after order, but then took another 2 weeks for the transport company to get it to my dealer (and thats from within the Uk obviously)

Good luck.

Cheers

I found out that the car is now being build in the first week in June. They said it usually takes 3 weeks after that to arrive in the UK. Does that sound about right?

Yup, dt, from my experience that's about right. My car was built first week of March, then followed almost 3 weeks of QA, then there was the shipping to Holland, then the travel from the importer to the dealer's. It was early April when it arrived there.

I only got in delivered right before Easter, mostly because of a delay at Oettinger (which needed to reprogram their RS software to suit the 4x4, as I was the first one in the world to order a 4x4 chip with them), but if your car doesn't need any extras to be fitted at the dealer's beforehand, then one month after its actual build date is a good estimate.

Do you guys think if i asked would they throw in some door sill protectors and mudguards for free?

Secondly on ebay there is a vrs brochure for 2.99, does anyone have a spare copy of this i can have?

DT,

The dealerships have copies of the seprate vRS brochure along with re-prints from the very favourable lauch test from Autocar.

The wait WILL be worth it !!

Happy Driving

Does the dealer actually need the car to register it, If the car is being made or is recently completed can Skoda supply chassis numbers etc to the dealer to register it ?

Also as the dealers are on quotas of how many cars they have to sell a month from Skoda & sales are slow this time of year they may not want to loose the sale.

Having given you 600 off + a few freebies on my calculation they still have some money left in the deal & I would ask for the dealer to "help" if it looks like you are going to loose out.

Maybe ask him to find you the cheapest loan he can & then ask him to "contribute to the interest". Then you look for the cheapest loan you can & if you beat his rate simply take his contribution & sort your own loan.

Also look at what companies on the Internet are selling the cars for as a bit more amunition, UK car broker are currently offering the VRS at
