Just renewed my Insurance - vRS

Featured Replies

Think you need to shop around mate im 30 in a fiew months and when i renewed mine it was 243 pounds with legal cover through sainsburys bank with 5 years ncd

Yip, i agree. I'm 30, full no claims, no points or claims= £169:thumbup:

It's difficult as I can't use the web compare services because in 2006 I had two cars hit my back bumper in the same week (when I had a Civic Type R). No damage or claims, but as the first one was malicious and I reported it to police they strongly recommended that I report it to my insurance company just in case there was a later claim.

This means I have to declare it as an accident which means I always have to ring up for quotes.

shouldnt make much difference as the next question is "was you blameworthy"

Just got my renual from admiral...... let say i was les then imppressed.

went to Adrian Flux and thay quoted a brillient price.

I am 22

5 Years NCB - was given an extra year on a policy as a promotion

Never had any points or convictions

Declaired all mods

ARB

WHEELS

HEADLIGHTS

COIL OVERS

With Platinum breakdown, £500 excess, £60 windscreen, 90 Day euro cover, Courtsey car, legal expenses

£570 :) Im well chuffed with that.

Im 22, with one years NCB, fully comp on my own policy with one named driver and i've just paid bout £650ish!!

Not bad considering I've only got one years NCB!!

Maybe i was being a little hasty dismissing Brentacre with £480 mods declared up to 180BHP. I have 4 yrs NCB and am 28 No points or convictions.

But i pay £280 with elephant so i thought that was on the high side

No, but just having the incident has put up some quotes. Annoying!

Paid £1600 for it last year. Renewed recently, paying £650 with mods declared. Well chuffed.

I'm paying £1700 :-) still happy tho lol

did you tell them its on v-car?

hmmm....I'm 450.00 fully comp with Chris Knott - all mods declared, and 35 years old, with 7 years protected no claims. Adrian Flux quoted 414.00 all in, with all mods declared, free euro cover, protected no claims, legal and courtesey car. I've took cover with Adrian Flux.

im 30 with clean licence, 4 yrs ncb, £295 fully comp with norwich union direct

Clean License 9 Years NCB £135 :D Standard VRS no Mods.

i just renewed mine last night, 20 years old on my own name instead of my dads, no no claims, no points or crashes, mods declared, £917 with elephant. Quite a high excess tho, think it would work out at 600 if i bumped it.

Good price, I'm 20 1 years NCB no crashes so should be about the same or less!

WHY did you go with elephant...... in my experiance with mods there always over priced, and there a bitch to claime from with mods, and they won't replace your modded parts, you will just get standard replacements.

I got like for like on my policy with adrian flux. As long as i tell them the mods.

Renewed mine yesterday with Adrian Flux.

£395 with all the gubbins (except breakdown cover) and mods declared. Monthly takes it to £420.

Tesco wanted £430 this year, and no one else was interested because of my couple of little mods.

25, full NCB, clean license, live in the back of beyond in Cornwall.

Lowest I found was £700!

I'm 26! 2 years no claims... however.. that's 2 years becuase that's how long I've held my licence.. it's fully comp, hopefully it'll come down a bit over the next couple years! :-)

Oh, I live just out side London...

I drove for 3 years a remapped Ibiza TDi and never declared the mods as i didn't think they'd check that if i had a bump etc.

Purchase of the Fabia VRs at the beginning of the month and the subsequent remap and RARB from Jabba and renewall due in December and think declaring mods is wise. Not like they won't nice the massive red Anti-roll bar should i have a bump!!!

Quoted through Adrian Flux earlier this week for me and SWMBO both 25, living together in Cheltenham and full no claims and clean licenses and was told

£739 excluding breakdown and legal

Confused.com pretty much said "Modifications? HAHAHA go Away!" and other sites offering modified car insurance quoted me over a grand

but reading the rest of this thread the above seems pretty expensive

opinions please

It's a well known fact that insurance companies HATE to ensure modified cars. Their view is that if you take a car that is already fairly fast, and have it tuned, you want to go faster, and so in their eyes are even more likely to have an accident.

I understand why younger drivers like to have their cars modified (cool factor, street cred etc) but it does cost a bundle on top of what will never be cheap insurance in the first place.

To give you an idea, of just how much you are paying, I got insurance for a standard VRS for £135, plus £14 to have protected NCB, and another £26 for courtesy car option.

An insurance company has no idea as to the quality of a particular drivers skills (or lack of). So they all have a basic criteria of risk assessment.

Having a clean license helps, as does holding an advanced drivers certificate, especially Police driving standards. Hope this helps.

I just swapped from a Golf GTi Turbo to a Fabia VRS and it went up £30?!? Haha
