Becoming common

Slightly OT, but hey, we're all human right ;) ?

Mattijs, waar woon je als ik vragen mag? Ik kom zelf uit Lelystad, maar heb sinds '98 residentie opgenomen op dit eiland...

I'll translate for all deprived of the knowledge of my beautiful mother tongue:

Mattijs, where do you live if I may ask? I'm from Lelystad myself, but have taken residence on this island since '98...

(I'm sure you won't mind, Q.)

First I'll say that I had my thoughts when I saw a newbie named Quinten (not Quintin or Quentin) prop up here - "Ah, another Dutchie" - but then the location said "Bucks". Utter confusion! But this explains all... :)

I'm from Amsterdam - well, just a couple of yards outside of it but there you have it - and if you read this thread you'll get a good idea on how I got here. Might as well say it here: I was welcomed warmly, so decided to stay around...

Sorry for interrupting, carry on guys.

Cheers,

Matt

Ofcourse I don't mind you translating for the crowd here ;)

Probably best to stick to car talk too, and hopefully I'll be able to start a 'Why I chose a vRS above a Mondeo' next week :D Although we all know the reason behind that one ;)

Always feel free to PM me if it's about Holland...

And by all means, I'd love such a thread! Why wait? I'm sure you've testdriven the (v)RS before buying it, so you should be well qualified as a judge.

Plus I'm always in favour of some frivolous Ford or Opel bashing :D

I've had mine for 6 months (around 10k miles) and still see very few in my area which is around Maidenhead.

I saw a black vRS on the back of a transporter yesterday with a load of Audi A3's ....

Mike

I live in a little village outside High Wycombe (thank god  ) and I see absolutely loads of vRSs! See them every day in fact - silver, red, black, yellow (rarer) - never seen a white one mind.

Everytime I go out I seem to come across them. Even worse when i took my car to Aylesbury to get it serviced - i must have seen SIX in the single 1/2 hours journey! That's just on the road - not including the ones the dealer had!

No-one ever waves either - in fact i'm going to stop waving because it makes me feel a prat :o when no-one ever waves back :(

I don't mind - every time I see one it reminds me of how good mine looks :D :D

Don't give up the waving! I'll be joining you tomorrow and if we just persist, it will sooner or later catch on...

Yay!

:bttt:

:mw:

I saw my first vRS in motion today - It seems there is one residing somewhere in Okehampton, which is a town close to me. Its JET BLACK too - pretty damn sexy!!

For anyone that thinks Skoda's are becoming common, here's something to make you smile....

I went on a shopping trip yesterday (to Teeside Park for anyone who knows the area).

Its a 25 mile round trip, and i counted at least 6 Audi TT's while i was out and about. Its still rare to see a vRS around here though :D

SO much for Audi "exclusivity" :p

The Audi TT, designed under the influence of Jimi Hendrix....

And driven by every Tom, **** and Harry it seems. :smile-l:

Geoff

They are as common up here too , is the North East the TT capitol of England? I see at least 5 or six different TTs a day in Berwick , whereas more often than not , the only vRS i see is when i look into a shop window to check out my car's reflection! (yes i still do that , after nearly 2 years of ownership , you'd think I would know what it looks like by now!! ;) )

I know exactly what you mean about the "shop window" thing. I even had one of the neighbours ask me for a photo the other day, he couldn't believe its a Skoda :D

I think i've seen 3 or 4 RS's in the 2 months i've had mine, and its still getting lots of long stares around town. The looks from Taxi drivers in standard Octavia's are really funny. Not to mention the local Nova Boys. :rofl2:

Seems like they're still rare around here.
