Best route up M1 to Leeds Airport in rush hour

Featured Replies

I've got a new job so need some travel advice in getting across leeds at rush hour.

Basically I need to come up the M1 then across Leeds to near Leeds/Bradford Airport and back home again- Whats the best route?

at rush hour you wont.

go before it or after it.

Whats the best route?

By Train

apart from there is no rail link to the aeropurto

Unfortunately the main routes will all be chock-a-block rush hour.

There is a bus that goes from outside the train station.

I can't say for certain, but I think your best route will be following the M1 (ignoring the M621). Then look for the A6120 (Ring Road). Then you can either follow it along and look for signs for airport, or another diversion that *may* help is to go an A660 (Adel/Bramhope) then left onto A658.

Not sure if anyone else concurs with my thoughts or not? :rubchin:

Are you planning to go to the airport at morning or afternoon rush hour?

and i thought this thread would end up being whats up north of birmingham again ;)

Its a 9 to 5 Mon to Fri job in Rawdon.

TBH mate id just follow the Motorway to get there as the local roads round the airport can be just as bad :(

I live not too far from there - best route is M1 -> M62 (westbound), take first exit from M62 past White Rose Shopping Centre onto A6120 (Ring Road). Follow Ring Road to Horsforth and turn left on A65 to Rawdon. As others have said though, best option is to go in early/late because traffic around Leeds is a nightmare and it WILL take twice as long as you think.

I live near the airport

Coming from the south you will struggle round Leeds.

I generally use M1 - M18 - A1

Leave A1 on A659 follow signs to Otley

Through Collingham and Harewood

At the mini roundabout in Pool-in-Wharfedale turn left up Pool bank - A658 (this should be your only queue up to the lights at the top of the hill - famous last words...)

Airport is about 3 miles on A658

Route looks a long way round (adds about 5 miles compared to driving through/round Leeds) but it is much quicker and nicer scenery :D

Edit!...

Just noticed you are in Barnsley - too far north for M18

Ah well...:(

Good luck!!

Helicopter :D

Looks like your best option is a motor bike for that time of day :)
