Greenlight Insurance refuse renewal

Featured Replies

I suddenly realised the other day (having been away so much) that my insurance had expired a couple of weeks ago.

I phoned them this weekend, but they were too busy and the promised returned phone call never materialised.

I phoned them again today to check on what's going on. After confirming all my details they said "Sorry, but due to the recent high accident rate of Fabias and Octavias, we refuse to insure them anymore".

I did explain that my modified car had been insured with them for the last three years with no claims on my behalf, and the operator just shrugged his shoulders and said "sorry, nothing I can do about it. Have a nice day"

I seem to remember reading that they weren't taking on any new customers with the Fabia vrses out there, but was never aware of their refusal to renew the policy of existing customers who haven't claimed.

So now looking around again. Fortunately, I have the bike so don't need the car just yet.

Will try Adrian Flux and see what they say.

try these guys and know there stuff

will insure upto a set bhp, so future mods can be insured, and not to bothered about cosmetics eg window tints

Cheers for the suggestions. Will give them a go. Did try CK, but it was 5:02 and they had left for the day

I had the same problem with greenlight as well, i had been with them for a couple of years but when i got my oct vrs they said no can do.

I have never heard of an insurance company not insuring skodas

I've been dealing with Paul at CK, IIRC he is the new business manager. Seems to know Skoda quite well and can be forgiven for owning a Citroen.

Well, phoning around just proves how much a lottery insurance premiums are ;) Having a modified car greatly reduces the amount of insurers and it seems that all of them end up having the policy underwritten by Highway or someone else :D

I have now nearly halved the premium by shopping around

It's also strange how many insurers won't tell you a price until you've given them your current lowest renewal premium. Maybe I shoudl just say I have it insured with "Xavinsurance" and they only want £49.50. Can you beat it?

in my younger days when trying to get a 1.4 insured (and before internet) i would ring a few up in maxpower mag and get a feeling for what they were quoting and then knock off £50 quid and try some more, each time i was given a quote 20-50 quid off and then when they couldnt beat it they would ask and i would say. normally i would go not with the cheapest of the bunch but the most honest that admitted they couldnt beat it but could do it with say breakdown cover and courtesty car etc. its suprising how low you can get it and something i have to do next year as i know i can get cheaper than what i have just havent been bothered to ring round to try for the past few years.

Well, it's all done. Down to £420 which I'm pleased with.

Thanks to Paul at Noel Dazely for helping me sort this one out. :)
