Monza Grand Prix, your predictions

If dry, could go either way. Lewis needs to nail Kimi from the start, and leave him fighting with the others, who I'm sure will secretly love to hold up a Ferrari and let Lewis through.

After what the other drivers have been saying this weekend I rather think it's Lewis they'd like to hold up!

Let’s pray for rain. All the greats have had astonishing races in the wet, so it would be good for LH to show us what he is made of.

If qualifying was anything to go by, Lewis may be lucky to finish the race. He was rubbish and I know he choose the wrong tyres at the start of Q2, but even when he was on the full wets he was still 1 or 2 seconds a lap slower than the others.

I know what you mean about the 'greats' and driving in the rain though. In theory it ought to favour the English drivers

I may be being a bit sceptical here but I can see the potential for more upset here -

Lewis uses a fair bit of kerb, just like most others are, to make a pass stick and doesn't give it back.

Massa uses the same bit of kerb to make a similar pass and is told by Race Control to give it back.

Should we expect another post race investigation where penalties will be awarded to those gaining an advantage bt using the kerb and the FIA racing team will have a clean slate having told Massa to yield the place back.

Other than that isn't Vettel just having a brilliant race, I so hope he can make it stick. Shame for Bourdais, he seemed really emotional during the pre race interview

Brilliant race. Well done Vettel. Top driving.:):):):):):):)

Very good drive from Vettel, he thoroughly deserved that win.

FORZA MINARDI!!!!! (ok it was torro rosso but they used to be minardi)

Doesn't Heiki K have a face like a smacked @r5e!!

:rofl::rofl::thumbup:

Top drive from Vettel, he totally dominated it. It was nice to see someone outside the top four win on merit and without it being a fluke.

I think Mclaren will be asking some questions of Hekkie after that one, even though he seemed to be making his excuses in the driver interviews after the race, that must of been his race for the taking.

Hamilton definitely leant on Glock and Webber on two seperate occasions in that race. I think he's setting himself up for a BTCC drive sooner or later!!

Cracking race today and Vettel becoming the youngest ever pole sitter and gp winner. WELL DONE.

My prediction is it will be uneventful and the front row will win it from the start.

Well, one out of two wasn't bad, enjoyed the race, I think they should install sprinklers on all the tracks incase its dry.

Fingers crossed for a wet night in Singapore under the lights, that would be interesting. I was kinda hoping there would be no lights and the cars would have lamp pods on like LM24 :D

Awesome, just what the sport needed! Get that boy to Ferrari right now! I could get used to the German/Italia anthems again!

He wouldn't be any good at Ferrari, clearly he is able to think for himself and has a personality.

I'm sure a bank of Cibies on the front wing is gonna muck up the aerodynamics for Singapore.

Great drive for Vettel.

Lewis did well, had he not used the full wets/it rained he'd have been on the podium in some form.

The stewards telling Massa to give the place back was very interesting. Hope all drivers would get the same.

And the other point was Massa changing the engine. I wonder if this is before or after the FIA have a poke around it?

Went for my normal two hour Sunday walk after the race, came home and the stewards hadn't change the result. Well done Vettel and Torro Rosso. Hamilton did well, just needed more rain for those tyres to avoid that second stop. Thought he squeezed Webber a bit too hard, but thats racing. Where was Kimi??? Massa didn't exactly set the world on fire either. Two Ferraris finishing behind a Minardi with a Ferrari engine, Some red faces at Marrinello tomorrow morning! I think Bernie will be doing the rain dance before the remaining GP's for the rest of the season.

A truely great drive by Vettel, throughly deserved to win. I think it's about time Heiki got a kick up the rear. He just can't seem to get the job done when he should/or has the chance to. I mean Vettel was pulling away from him....

:iagree:

Forza Minardi!!! :D

Oh and I think everyone, including Berndt Maylander, should get a 25s penalty for jumping chicanes!! ;)

Great driving though it was from Hamilton, he really needs a reality check. He seems to think he is a God and his arrogance seems to know no bounds. I have never liked him as a person and not only can I not see this changing, I think I dislike him more now than at the beginning of the season. Not a vey nice person at all. Having said that, he is also a driver of sublime talent, but one who still needs to watch his silly mistakes imho.

Luckily there seem to be a few really talented guys our there without the egotistical obesity, Kubica, Vettel and Massa, so at least I can cheer for one of them in the future if Hamilton carries on being an ar$e.

Btw I still think he (LH) should not have been demoted to third last week.

I agree with you about everything except your assessment of Lewis's personality.

I agree with you about everything except your assessment of Lewis's personality.

The Press and Former Racing Drivers seem to be more and more in agreement with my way of thinking, at least from the countless articles I have read.

Here are a few quotes from this weekend

Read this selection of Hamilton quotes following the race:

"There wasn't that much grip out there but I always managed to find it."

"I wouldn't have had a problem." (When asked if the track was driveable on intermediate tyres when he made his first pit stop)

"I'm not surprised (I'm still ahead in the championship) because I drove my **** off and you know what I can do in the wet. I had no doubts in my mind - I knew I could do a good job."

Hearing those comments, it is perhaps not a surprise that some observers at Monza were beginning to wonder whether Hamilton had become so impressed by his own abilities in the wet that they had persuaded him he could walk on water.

This is the full article on the BBC Motorsport page:(

I hope he grows out of it.

Are you suggesting that the first and third of those quotes are anything less than true?

Yes he has huge self-belief, but IMO he actually has the talent to back it up.

But in britain we prefer to see a hero fail, mediocrity is rewarded in schools, this is why we dont like brash americans. As soon as someone dares to recognise their own talent they are an outcast.

I dont recall every quote from Senna / Prost / Mansell being analysed this way.... did they not say similar... or did they not have to contend with internet scrutiny and misquote every waking minute like todays drivers do.

All racing drivers say this / beleive this.. not all are scrutinised with public obsession.

If you don't believe you can pull it off and are one of the best, then what is the point of racing, You may as well hang up your racing gear and take up something where you get paid to do nothing (football anyone?).

Well all I can say is Vettel seems the kind of person I prefer to Hamilton. Sport is full of people with outstanding abilities and confidence is pretty much a ‘must have’ quality. But some people go too far and are ar$es, Hamilton being one of them. Confidence yes, Arrogance at the Hamilton level, no thank you. :thumbdwn:

I agree, he becomes more of a **** with every race that passes - last season, he had confidence but still came across fairly humble and appreciative of the chance he had been given. It was clear to see from the very start of this season that he had been digesting way too much of his own press during the break, and his ego/arrogance has flown off the cockometer.

Admittedly he is a 1st class driver, and he did not deserve the penalty at monza. just wish he'd stop being a nob..... Have to say though, being a Ferrari fan, i'm gutted that 'dull as ditch water' Raikkonen has signed for another 2 seasons with Ferrari, i hope Massa keeps up his current performance levels for the next couple of seasons as i really can't stand Raikkonen either! massa has been quite a surprise this season, i hope he keeps on improving......
