ŠKODA OCTAVIA vRS SPECIFICATION UPGRADE

Škoda is upping the ante in the hot hatch market by increasing its standard specification on the sporty Octavia vRS.

From 1 September all Octavia vRS ordered will be fitted with the following items as standard:

  • 18” Zenith Alloys
  • Dual Zone Climate Control
  • Jumbo box central armrest with 3.5mm auxiliary in socket
  • Rear electric windows
  • Cruise control

The upgrade means that over £1,100 worth of equipment will be available on both petrol and diesel models as standard. This gives the Octavia vRS a competitive edge over rivals during a time when motorists are looking for more value.

Warren Richards, Product Marketing Manager at Škoda comments: “Škoda has always pledged to give motorists more car for their money. This generous equipment offer is sure to attract drivers looking for great performance, great looks, great driving experience and now even greater value”

To find out where your nearest Škoda retailer is, go to www.skoda.co.uk and book a test drive for any of the full range of Škodas.

Editors' Notes

Škoda is the Manufacturer of Happy Drivers:

* New Octavia is the 2008 Auto Express Driver Power survey 'Car of the Year'

* Manufacturer of the Year in the 2008 Top Gear Owner Satisfaction Survey

Škoda is an environmentally-friendly manufacturer:

* Roomster 1.4TDI (135g/km) lowest emitting MPV in UK (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders)

* Average CO2 emissions of 152g/km make Škoda one of today's greenest carmakers (Business Car)

About time too

All they need to do now is add Xenons, MFD3, Bluetooth, Light Assist, Front and Rear Parking Sensors and i might change my car:rolleyes::D

So it looks like they're giving a great deal after keeping back all the stuff that should have been standard from the start and now devalue slightly older less spec'd VRSs.

Still better late than never.

I've a sneaky feeling it could due to the new facelifted model being due end of year/early next - its a way of quickly selling what will essentially be 'old stock'! Thats probably why when you order a Classic you get an Ambiente upgrade, an Ambiente, you get an Elegance, and order a 4X4 and you get a Scout. They want all the current models shifted quickly.

So upgraded spec and the dealers will be giving good discounts.

Sounds like win win for us customers!!!

A right kick in the stones for those without the options though.

*ouch*

Nice options, I guess another reason for doing this is to try and improve sales at a time when they are looking towards the facelifted model and when new car sales are plumetting.

They are slowly getting there - I "only" want a vRS L&K. Not much to ask for really.

oh and 4 Motion 4x4 as well!!

I wonder if this kit will be standard in the face lifted model?

You forgot the V6 TDi or FSi option too :D

Don't forget that all this 'additional equipment' bar cruise control has been provided as part of the 'free upgrade pack' provided since April 2007! So all post April 07 vRS have it anyway.

I know. I missed out on the free upgrade by buying mine in March 07.

Disappointing naturally for anyone with an older car having a lower spec but that is the nature of the UK car market; specification tends to be upgraded during a cars model life anyway.

Overall; C'est la vie.

Kind of how I feel.

I bought my vRS about a month ago, however as its a January 2007 model it too doesn't have the "extras" which are now going to be standard.

I personally don't miss what I haven't got - however I can see how it might effect eventual resell value.

However by the time I'm looking to sell the car is going to be around 6 years old anyway, so those "extras" I wouldn't have thought would make that much difference to the overall value.

Of all the "extras" listed I may get Cruise Control retro-fitted anyway as the price doesn't seem too high to get that done.

Good to see that the vRS is getting a standard spec similar to the " old " Scout !

- with the exception of the Alloys .

It will be interesting to see what the new Scout has as a new spec. upgrade .

Overall; C'est la vie.

Agreed.

My outlook is that whenever you buy a computer, it seems the next month you could get a better processor for the same money, you buy a house, and the next month you are either a winner or a loser when looking at the price, you buy a pack of washing powder, and the next week it might be on BOGOF, you buy a designer shirt and the next week it's on the sale rack, it's just how life goes.

Those who beat themselves up over it will die angry and early. Those who get over it will live long enough to see life deal them better cards at some point :)
