just got back from picking up my new(to me anyway) octavia vrs from kennyW in glasgow, and what a car, very very happy bunny right now,a very enjoyable 300 odd mile trip back to shropshire, and only drank 3/4 of a tank of juice.could of been better on the fuel but ,boys will be boys, and whats the point of a 20vt if ya don't play a little.(guns N roses soundtrack didn't help )

just one question though?does the vrs have the cooling system that cuts in when the ingnition is turned off to cool the turbo?should i be able to here it when its doing it?stopped in a lay by to have a jimmy riddle ,let the engine run for a few minutes at idle then turned it off ,popped the bonnet and expected to hear a whirring sound but there wasn't any noise,a fault or not a facilty on the octavia vrs???expect more questions

edit to add, many thanks kenny,i think the exellent cup of tea swung the deal:)

Welcome Jason

AFAIK the Octy doesnt have the turbo cooler you mention. Most of us just let the engine run for a minute or 2 after a good thrashing ;)

400 miles is more than possible on a full tank, even on mine which is Jabba'd.

Enjoy :)

Jason, as Geoff has mentioned, the handbook says to let the car idle for a minute or two to let the oil circulate through the turbo if you've been giving it a hard time (applies to TDis as well as petrol as it happens). Last thing you want is a dry bearing in the turbo!!

Have fun! :D

Welcome to Briskoda Jason

Last thing you want is a dry bearing in the turbo!!

Well done Jason , excellent choice of car , excellent colour , and most importantly, bought for an excellent price :D ................what more can I say ?...........except ....have I mentioned excellent anywhere ? :D

Welcome Jason , and at that price you can't go wrong :D

if i'm honest it is far quicker than i thought, you just don't feel it, the power delivery is fantasticly smooth, you get into licence loosing terriotory very very easliy.

congrats on your astute purchase jason and a belated welcome from me! :)

have to say, the fuel economy in mine now that it's loosening up is fantastic and i'm regularly getting over 400 miles to the tank. much, much better than when new.
