Well, it's been replaced by steely; very similar, but with less carbon in it! ;)

Ok Mr Wobblytickle,

It's not always the case that lowering a car that far adversely affects the ride, particularly if you use coilovers, and reduce the length of the damper tower below the lower spring platform. I don't know of a case where this has happened, but it's theoretically possible that you could fit coilovers and reduce your spring rates, which scarcely seems to intrinsically "make the car useless except on perfectly level surfaces".

As I've just demonstrated, you can't draw a conclusion about a car's ride from its ride height, but the OP has. I presume that his total knowledge of suspension tuning is of a similar level.

I'll concede that I may have read something that wasn't there about engine tuning.

Ken, I think the OP realises that lowering your roll centre etc is good, but I read his post as not liking the Cruze look (not sure of the modern spelling)

That must be why spiral staircases are know as 'steely stairs':P

Er, surely 'Steely' has infinitely more carbon in it than Irony? ;)

less than 1%:)

I was thinking that irony is always wrought or cast! :D

less than 1%:)

I was thinking that irony is always wrought or cast! :D

Steel contains under 1% carbon; pure iron contains none (but is rare).

Wrought and cast iron both contain more than 1% carbon. Also, it's sometimes said that irony is "finely wrought" or "cast near and far".

I'm told I can be obtuse, but I know someone else understood that one! :D

:)

I'm a 19 year old Fabia VRS driver. Does that make me a bad or spoilt person? I don't think so, I've worked bloody hard to be able to afford what I'm driving at the moment and when people on here say it's a "shame" that the average age of the Fabia driver is coming down it is in fact quite irritating.

Well done, you.

Younger drivers crash more. Ergo; from this high-horse I'm on, I can happily blame [the collective] you for my increase in premiums.

;)

And please stop with the pink text.

No can do.:D Hth.

 if I have an at-fault accident whilst driving my vrs I'll accept your blame :) By the way, I'm directly responsible for a small increase in insurance premium on all Fabias, from my accident in 2006 (in an SDI!). I guess I'm sorry!

 Brilliant.

All Fabia vRS owners are spotty teenage Chavs, just the same as all BMW drivers are Pillox.

HTH

im all them :D ok, maybe not a chav, but im a spotty teenager. I work hard for my money tho, so i guess its my choice what i drive and do to it innit, brap n ting.

Man alive! Where to begin?

I can hardly believe I'm actually going to waste some of my life on the following, but some things need to be cleared up...

TeflonTom was wrong when he stated : "less than 1%:)"

As iron is an element, consisting of nothing but itself, it contains no carbon, and thus the percentage of carbon in steel (in which iron is alloyed with carbon) is indeed infinitely bigger than zero. ;)

KenONeill is also wrong as he states that: "Steely; very similar (to Irony), but with less carbon in it!"

Steely clearly has more carbon in it than something containing no carbon.

KenONeill then stated: "Steel contains under 1% carbon; pure iron contains none (but is rare).".

Wrong again.

Actually, steel, an alloy consisting mostly of iron, typically has a carbon content of between 0.2 and 2.04% by weight, depending on the grade.

And it goes without saying, or at least I thought it did, that pure iron 'contains none'.

KenONeill then stated: "Wrought and cast iron both contain more than 1% carbon. Also, it's sometimes said that irony is "finely wrought" or "cast near and far."

For the record, wrought iron contains only trace amounts of other elements and distinguishes itself from other steels by containing 1–3% by weight of slag in the form of particles elongated in one direction, giving the iron its characteristic grain.

Cast iron, on the other hand, actually contains more than 2.14% carbon by weight.

KenONeill also stated: "I'm told I can be obtuse, but I know someone else understood that one! :D"

I don't know about obtuse, but you sure seem to have a predilection for irrelevancy, error and non sequiturs. ;)

Sorry that I was unable to understand that one, but if you'd care to explain it to me again, s-l-o-w-l-y, I promise to concentrate really hard. :insane:

And then, to cap it all, d_milek, the guy who started this frankly pointless thread, the one whose corner I've actually been fighting, finds some brilliance in the 'obtuseness' of KenONeill's, "Wrought and cast iron both contain more than 1% carbon. Also, it's sometimes said that irony is "finely wrought" or "cast near and far". I'm told I can be obtuse, but I know someone else understood that one" comment.

Brilliant indeed!

 stop blinding me with science

why is andy_fabia not posting! he should be fighting for (or against) modding !

 stop blinding me with science

Sorry, dude.

Blinding wasn't my intention.

I had, in fact, sought to open your eyes.

Shower me in Burberry baby,

Cover me in bling;

You've got to be a chav these days

If you want to fit in.

I want to shave my hair short,

And tell people to shut their 'maff',

And take my other chavvy mates

To hang around my gaff.

I want to have a gold earring

And drive a beat-up car,

And listen to Grime really loud

When I loiter outside Spar.

Shower me in Burberry, baby,

Cover me in bling;

You're got to be a chav these days

If you want to fit in.
