Which Octavia am I looking for?

Featured Replies

I want the turbocharged estate that is four wheel drive. Is it the VRS or the 1.8T Elegance. Or something else. It can be chipped to over 200BHP can't it. Being realistic how far could I tune it on standard engine internal without screwing up the gearbox and 4WD system and what handling packages and brakes would I be looking to get? How tuneable are they? Are they as good as Audi's. I want a stealth practical car that can fly and won't cost the earth. I saw the article on MTM Website about a 600BHP Audi RS4. I know that's silly money but how realistic is 300BHP for the Octavia or am I going slightly mad. I have a Legacy Turbo (Well old) tuned to approx. 260BHP.

Thanks

Aaquil.

ihi turbo from jabba sport brings the 20vt up to around 300 odd bhp obviously the clutch is gonna need uprating, not sure on the 4wd system ,but with any tuning wear is gonna take its toll quicker then running stock spec

1.8T Elegance is the only spec for the 4x4, stock it is 150 bhp

Jabba Re-map will give about 225-230 but loads of torque &, will feel quicker than the legacy, mine is quicker than my old STI which gave 290 on the rollers

New Exhaust + sports cat will free it off even more but will need to be a one off as nobody at present does an off the shelf system but thats not as expensive as it sounds

KW Suspension will set you back probably

Am currently in discussions with haldex re power handling - will keep you posted..

As an aside the RS4 has a different engine 6 cylinder engine so more power is achievable but a well sorted Octy will beat a std RS4

That is an exceedingly bold statement. Got any evidence to back it up?

Those who know told me, suffice to say an octy giving 400 ish horsies & the benefits of a custom map should give the edge on a std RS4 IMO

will do... is a long process :)

But the results will be :thumbup::thumbup:

Come on Aaquil you ex Leggy Turbo owner you - haven't you got a 4x4 Octavia yet ?

PS Search on For Sale under my name ...mine was for sale but I think I'm keeping it now.

Now you're keeping it? Very resolute people, these Skoda folk. :D

If I'm looking for 300BHP what do I need EXACTLY. Of course it will be in stages so how do I do it. What about getting a Motec ECU in the car with loads of add on mods. I know they suggest ECU's like that for serious Subaru tuning. A 4X4 would be a better option for keeping the car on the road with 300BHP wouldn't it?

Beware, rear camber is not adjustable so when you lower it you ought to fit adjustable tie rods which are believe it or not

A Big Budget to do it properly, I would guess circa

Okay Stuart what do I need for 250BHP. By the way thanks for taking the time to respond. I don't get responses like this from 'Scoobynet' usually...no offence intended. I did have one thread that was massive though.

... there's a better class of ex-Scoobynetters over here ;) We saw the light!

So it seems...

Remap + new zorst & a bigger intercooler for consistent power should get you close, say 240.

Suspension Brakes etc will be the same although the stock brakes are pretty good, with decent discs,Fluid & Pads they are probably adequate.

What about:

1. Turbo inlet pipe.

2. Induction kit or are induction kits not recommended for Skoda as they aren't for Subaru's?

3. Samco Hoses all round.

4. Intercooler waterspray.

How much am I looking at there?

The mods you suggested Stuart should I do them all before remap or at each stage (I won't be getting all the mods in one go!!!) or at the end...is that a stupid question. Where do you best advise me to go...Jabbasport?

  • Author

If induction kit is a NO NO what about a Green uprated panel filter as I have on my Legacy?

AmD uprated ECU or the Jabbasport version. I am looking for useable BHP and plenty of torque. Guys give me an idiots guide to tuning STAGE BY STAGE and where to go. I am in the Northwest. I will travel anywhere within reason as long as the work is of top quality (I've learnt the hard way with the Legacy which I suppose is a blessing in disguise). Will I need monitoring gear LAMBDA LINK, KNOCKLINK and BOOST GUAGE as you do with Subaru's

Also add a BOOST ADJUSTER THINGY TO MY MOD LIST - Good or bad idea? What's the drive by wire throttle and how is it that you get more power with that than the earlier version according to JABBASPORT.

By the way I am cutting and pasting all my these threads to a Word Document so I have all the info for later so come on everyone help me out please. I want a 'stealth scranner'.

I was also thinking of Supperleggera OZ Alloy wheels at 17" as they have avery low weight and I will be able to get some low profile Goodyear Eagle F1's on them for max grip what do you think?
