SUPERB GREENLINE GOES ON SALE

Škoda is releasing the New Superb GreenLine on Monday 13th October bringing more choice to the range of low CO2 emitting vehicles in the UK.

Priced at £16,710 OTR, the New Superb Greenline is a flexible and spacious car which offers fantastic value for money. The 1.9 TDI PD engine, fitted with a diesel particulate filter, returns 105bhp and comes with a five speed manual gearbox.

The Superb Greenline emits a mere 136 g/km of CO2 and has an outstanding combined fuel consumption of 55.4 mpg. Škoda engineers have achieved this remarkable feat by developing a number of solutions. These include reducing the weight of the car, making the gearing longer and re-mapping the engine for greater efficiency. This, together with improved aerodynamics and low resistance tyres, adds up to a more environmentally conscious vehicle.

The Superb Greenline is a separate trim level and sits between the entry level S and the mid-range SE. Equipment above the S model includes sunset glass, cruise control, four spoke leather steering wheel, lowered suspension, small rear boot spoiler and tyre repair kit.

Chris Horrell, Product Marketing Manager at Škoda, comments: “The latest addition to our GreenLine range will be well received by customers seeking a more environmentally conscious vehicle in the upper medium sector.

“With growing interest in greener cars we expect the Superb Greenline to attract retail and business customers seeking a vehicle which represents great value for money but does not compromise on quality.”

Please contact a Škoda retailer or visit www.skoda.co.uk to book a test drive or to find out more about the New Superb Greenline.

Or another name for it is basic! :D

bet that will be a barrel of laughs to drive !!! NOT

105bhp in a 1500kg car...0-60 measured in minutes not seconds !!

sorry - make that 1500kg minus 12kg as i have just noticed they have removed the spare wheel. that will make about 0.1mog difference then. perhaps you should ensure you wear short and a t-shirt to drive it as that will shed some weight. perhaps go for a poo before you drive it - that will help too !!! and then never have more than 20L of fuel in it .....this coudl go on and on so i will stop !!

I find it amusing that such a feeble 105bhp engine, and cut down trim quality, comes with the "sporty" additions of lowered suspension, spoiler and sunset glass!

:huep::huep::huep:

Ah yes, but with it's Green credentials, that would only help if you composted the poo into household fuel...

the 1st 2 options you refer to will probably be to do with reducing aerodynamic drag and thus improving efficiency. i guess the "drug delear" glass is so that your passangers cant be seen as they are so embarrased you bought such a slow and noisy car !!

amusingly it emits more carbon than the latest 180hp 320d.... when will VW / audi learn that their diesels are **** old tech rubbish

...perhaps go for a poo before you drive it... !!

:D

Haha, I'll make sure I'll use that line in the future.

For trim spec, it falls between the S and SE so has more equipment than the base model.

Yes i saw that, but as Supurbia above states - that means "BASIC"!

I was just amused that the extras they chose to add, over the S line, were sporty..

OK it it hasn't got ALL the toys, but i don't think you can really say a car is basic when it has:

sunset glass, cruise control, four spoke leather steering wheel, lowered suspension, small rear boot spoiler

Plus the S spec of:

2 DIN Swing radio with single CD + MP3

Alarm with interior monitoring and tilt sensor

Curtain airbags

Driver and passenger front airbags

Drivers knee airbag

Electric windows (front and rear)

Electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors

ESP (incl ABS, MSR, ASR, EDL, HBA)

Front aero wipers

Front fog lights

Gas strut for bonnet

Halogen headlights with DE module

Immobiliser

ISOFIX (2 outer rear seats)

Light assistant (coming home, leaving home, tunnel light)

Manual air conditioning

Passenger airbag switch-off

Remote central locking (2 foldable keys)

Split folding rear seats

Trip computer

Even the entry level S has quite a decent spec. (for an entry level car)

105bhp in a 1500kg car...0-60 measured in minutes not seconds !!

you should check your facts my friend. 1500kg is the octavia, even the estate weighs in at 1515kg and i drive both and they certainly dont have issues getting upto speed.

the kerb weight of a S superb is 1456kg, so its lighter than the book weight of the octy!

evne if you use total weight its still only 90kgs heavier than the octy.

so with the areodynamics and a fine (if somewhat noisy) tdi engine under the bonnet, it wont be a rocket ship but i imagine on the motorway, holding onto the leather steering wheel, using the higher 5th gear it will certainly do what it needs to do!

but then if you want perfomance there are other engines and more spec available, so its no bad thing imoa

it was only an approximation of the weight.

105bhp will feel slow i think.

the 140bhp will be a better bet especially in CR form as its more refined (well for a diesel)

i am just wondering who will buy this car when there are greener and more powerful engines out there. i hate to sya it but the BMW diesels are amazing - so quiet and so green...they are a marvel of engineering in my opinion. but then you pay for them.

Frankly I'd prefer to see an "SE Sport" or an "Elegance Sport" at the upper end, with the lowered suspension, privacy glass and the spoiler trims, on one of the 170 diesels, not on this tank engine

fair point. you can order the pimp glass and spolier just not the lowered suspension (dont do it - it will ruin the ride !! just go and buy and elise as a 2nd car !!)

It can't be that it's aimed at the taxi firms either since it's got a DPF. Agree BMW make excellent diesels, but then audi really struggles. I see the a6tdi e is out but is out trumped by a 5 series right away. They do need to buy some engineering from BMW. But then I know people with the start-stop engine function thing and its soon switched off so not really saving the planet

slow yes, compared to a brand new 170crtdi, but then thats allot more money. but as the car only weighs slightly more than a octy it wont hang about! i know my octy doesnt. thing is its cheap to buy, cheap to insure and therefore to run. you just cant compare a much more expensive bmw to it, they arent in the same class at all. we all know their diesel engines are excellent, but then you'd expect that for the money!

depends, i sold a old one with the 2.0tdi with the DPF to a taxi guy. he does airport runs so the cars on the motorway doing 70 all day long. hes not the only one doing this type of run either. so in that respect the greenline will be perfect for him. same as the middle business man who wants a spacious car, but travels up the motorway to london everyday

It is a version I am thinking of purely on running costs

Private car, I have a 60 mile round trip to work each day, all on motorway.

Even taking it easy my Focus ST only gives 31mpg. I normally achieve the combined mpg on the cars I have had so taking the 55.4mpg for the Greenline will save me about £800 a year just in fuel.

Add in savings for tyres, insurance and RFL and I save £1300. I also need a bigger car.

Previously had a 1997 VW Passat and 2001 Audi A6, both new.

0 to 62 mph of 12.5 seconds is the same as my wife's Focus 1.6 TDCi (90hp) which I find adequate for day to day use.

Might spec it with Park Assist and Bolero stereo

How come everyone is jumping on the Greenline

It will be slow - Same engine has been there from launch in all other specs

It will be basic - As said it is the S spec "With" extras

So no one thought there was anything wrong with the 1.9TDi in any of the other spec'ed cars, but here in the Greenline where it is cheaper to buy and run, you get more toys for your money, suddenly it's the worst model in the Superb range

I know 2 guys thinking of buying the Greenline. Here in Ireland it is the cheapest to buy, cheapest to tax, in theory is the cheapest to run, it has more toys than the S, has the same power as the base engine in any spec, I just dont get why the Greenline looks like the only model in the Superb range that people on here seem to be knocking

Have to agree. Fairly decent motor for the money, and pretty decent running costs if the figures are accurate.

I drove a 1.9TDi base German spec Superb and it was absolutely fine, it didn't feel especially underpowered at all until I drove the CR170 but for most applications the 105BHP of the 1.9PD unit offers plenty of torque. The Greenline spec to me sounds like quite a novel idea, and I think we will sell quite a few of them.

Dare I order a white one?

If the greenline is £16,710 OTR, what the OTR price of the most basic 1.9 tdi S-spec?

Do you think its worth the extra over a standard car?

It doesn't look as though an SE is going to be on for me as a Company car.

I had discounted S, but the Greenline starts to make sense. Especially in White, so no metallic paint charge. Possible add rear sensors, but that would be all I need.

Big problem at the moment is local Skoda dealer is blissfully unaware of the Greenline and can't supply any brochures.

Worse is Skoda UK website has naff all on it. (skoda .com has some info.)

They don't take into account all the CO2 emissions from the recovery truck when it gets disabled by something as complicated as a puncture.

If you look really really closely, you will notice there is a greenline in the picture :P

My pics from march this year, I'm guessing it doesn't come with those graphics on it?? ;)
