Octy ll Windscreen Washer Jets

Featured Replies

Had the windscreen replaced recently which resulted in one washer jet spraying really low, below the wiper arm and not getting to the screen until the arm moves.

Due a service a couple of days later so asked stealer to adjust and make them the same height.

Stealer adjusted but guess what! Yep, they adjusted the correct hieght washer down to match the lower one!

Not so easy for me to get back to the stealer. So, can they be adjusted?

I was going to have a look tonight but it is persisting down.

Any tips and I'll have a look at the weekend.

The washer jets are very easily adjusted by hand. On the jets there is a small lever which you can pull up or push down.

Just look at them and you will see how it works.

The washer jets are regulated only in vertical position by hand.

There is no horizontal nor twist corrections.

IMHO the best effect is achieved with jets pointing at 1/5th of the screen.

That sounds good to me!

Thanks a lot.

It seems a bit of a basic question to ask but I could find no reference to the adjustment in the Owner Manual.

because once set at the factory, in theory no adjustment is needed again. I have not touched mine in more than 3 years (age of car).

They didn't allow for Autoglass getting their hands on your car!

And mine jets was totally wrong positioned when I got my new car .

Never needed to adjust mine either always spot on

Make sure you aim them a little bit higher to allow for air flow when the car is moving along, which will make the jet hit lower...

Does anyone else have a small delay before they squirt?

In fact, if you are driving fast, jets will hit higher on the windscreen. This is because of the fast air stream at the windscreen going up. In second hand, this air stream is taking water up when adjusted in lower place. Again, in my opinion the best case is pointing 1/5th with car stopped.

Yes, there is some 1 sec delay. And jets are coming just before wipers start.

like mentioned above they are easy to move as they can go up and down. many times when ive washed the car ive knocked them down by accident. mine are currently set so half the water hits the middle and top (and over the car) when stationary, but driving down the motorway it gets middle and below which seems spot on to me.

That's funny cos Chavdarlk just explained that can't be possible:rofl:. Apparently according to Chavdarlk the faster you go the higher the jets go up the windscreen due to the airstream:rofl:

They never taught me that in A'level Physics, nor has that happened from experience. I always find they hit the screen lower at speed...

And remember they wont work if the bonnet is up, found that out at my taxi test was almost a fail

I always find they hit the screen lower at speed...

That's how it works in the real world :)

Air is always an opposing force to cars movement force. That way the air stream is pushing the water down on the windscreen, not up :)
