L&K dilema

Featured Replies

Having read elsewhere on the site that only 100 1.3 L&K's were made i'm now not sure how much to modify my car. Or should i leave as standard but in good condition. I will have to fit power steering but i think this is an acceptable mod and was probably an option when new? So Skoda fans tell me what you think "To modify or not to modify that is the question" hehe!!!!:D

personally i would say that you aren't going to affect the value of a felicia that much by modifying it, although the L&K are limited they aren't THAT special, after all i've seen felicia's going to less than £150 in working order on ebay

In the general case I'd agree with Tom, but I'm not sure PAS was ever even an option on the 1.3l?

I think it was an option and only standard on GLXi and SLXi until it was standard after the facelifted models.

Dunno if it an be retro fitted though.

I'd have thought it would be more hassle than it's worth myself. It's not that heavy to steer, and to make it lighter you can put an extra couple of psi in the tyres and put up with the centre-wear.

There's someone over on www.skoda-forum.com who has spent quite alot on a favorit with remote control door poppers (door handles filled and smoothed in) and cool stuff like that. Probably added little value to the car realistically - as at the end of the day it's a Skoda to the general motor buying public, but it still looks great and I'm sure it adds to the owner's experience of using the car :)

So I'd say leave it as it is unless you think you yourself will benefit enough to make it worth your while.

With the L&K the leather seats will easily come out and the door cards shouldn't be too difficult. Don't know about the heated seat system but I believe there is a button in the centre console, and I assume some wires leading to the fusebox. So using those as a donor for another car shouldn't be too difficult :)

yes it can be retrofitted, but you'll need a new rack, and the pump, and all the resovoir and pipework

What about pulleys? Any "optional PAS" I've looked at before used extra idlers, or special double pulleys. I presume the block lugs for mounting the pump to exist on all blocks from what you say Tom.

yeah, you will need the mounting bracket for the pump too, which iirc also carries the alternator, so you take off the one that's on there and replace it with a different one. and obviously you need the longer v-belt to go with it

I would say it is not worth the effort doing, just put an extra few psi in the front tyres

Cheers for your replies I guess your right about desirability to the non Skoda world just makes a fun car a bit more special with all the toys, I don't mind the hassle as i love being a mechanic and playing around with cars as well just that the wife might even drive it with power steering as well .

Been busy on it today, fitted new timing chain, plugs and filters replaced the blowing down pipe which had almost cracked all the way round not sure if a stronger engine torque resistor or rear g/box mount is needed hmmmmmm..... Also found the oxygen sensor loose in the old down pipe fitted in the new one properly. And i must say wow:eek: what a drive home the car goes like a bomb, cruises on m/way at 80-85 no probs and at one point messing around with a corsa 1.4 twinport saw well over 3 figs. on the speedo, and onto the B roads the rolly polly suspension worked really well when going hard using the revs and the gears it stuck to the road like **** to a blanket. Hits the rev limiter in 2nd really quick now though hehe:thumbup::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Is yours the SPi or MPi engine?

Just curious as to whether they did do an MPi 1.3 L&K as mine is an SPi.

I love my felicia and don't really want to get rid (she's just flown through another MOT).

Personally i would leave it as standard as i have done... although some sportier suspension and ARB's wouldn't go a miss if your desperate to do something to it!

Its an SPi, don't think there is much tuning potential for this type of system, its all normally for the MPi, not sure what % increase in performance the SPI can take with out changng to MPi:(

In the general case I'd agree with Tom, but I'm not sure PAS was ever even an option on the 1.3l?

It was on the facelift model. I have a 98 Gli with power steering. The only thing it doesn't have is electric windows bah!!
