Oil now $80 a barrel

Featured Replies

Heard on the radio earlier that oil is now down to $80 a barrel ....strange how it takes a long time to lower prices at the pumps but only minutes to put them up......price should now be under £1 a litre

is there anybody we could petition to get this sorted

Best bet is through your local MP

Couldn't agree more . . .

i agree too. but prices are in the $70's now but take about 6 weeks to filter down. anyone got a price at pump vs price of a barrel vs the rate of the dollar?

Robbing B******s ,theyre all too quick to put it up as soon as the price goes up ,even though the garages are still using the cheaper fuel in their storage tanks , but how come it takes WEEKS to reduce the price ? Makes my blood boil it does !!:orb_angry:orb_no_no:orb_mad:

cos they know they can get away with it.

The government don't have the power to set the price that oil companies should charge for fuel.

Do you think they should do?

the government could lower prices by reducing some of the 50-60p tax they currently charge on a litre of fuel. But we know they wont do that.

The problem now is that the goverment cant cut tax on fuel because they cant afford too , due to less tax coming from ciggy and drink sales due to more people giving up smoking etc , look at prescription charges in wales where i live there is no charge , so money got to come from somewhereto pay for the medication etc

It all rob peter to pay paul with this goverment ..

doesn't matter who is in power none of them will lower the tax on fuel....and to be honest why should they, if they take tax off of fuel it will have to go on something else which would then mean everyone else would be subsidising high mileage drivers....I like it the way it is........ the more you use the more you pay

when its was on the way up the industry analysts (i.e. parasites) reckoned $2/barrel = 1p/ltr.

strangely the same has not been true on the way down:finger:

petrol near me dropped to 106.9 yesterday :D

thank the lord its coming down as i have a petrol drinking car

£104.9 near me...

Surely less people smoking and drinking would mean less money spent on saving/helping them from the NHS?

My local Shell, in Preston :)

(ooooooop north!)

Not quite as oop north but diesel is only 113.9 in Derby its gone down 6p since the middle of the week. Think petrol was 103-104.

103.9 for unleaded and 114.9 for diesel at Sainsbury's this morning

109.9 at local shell, 108.9 at sainsburys, 106.9 at tesco and esso all unleaded. this week saw tesco and esso drop 4p and shell 1p and sainsburys 1p. will check at the other shell garage later before i fill up for holiday.

Got DERV at 115.9 this avo. Shell in Galashiels

My Derv was 120.9 last night when I filled up just outside Littlehampton :thumbdwn:

I have light crude at $77.7 per barrel on the Nymex, should be interesting to see what it does next week.

We should see some decent price drops at the pumps in the next week or two.

Take it thats at the shell at the body shop roundabout?

Fuel is currently 7p a litre more expensive than in Pompey at the moment in Littlehampton!

I found a site the other day, which has an archive of prices going back quiet a few years for the whole of europe including the UK.

AA Roadwatch : European Petrol Prices

The archive is at the bottom of the prices, simply select a month/year.
