Xenon Adjustment

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Need to manually adjust my xenon headlights as they are both set at different heights. VAG COM says they are out of adjustment and ross tech says i need to manually adjust them. Does anyone know where the adjustment screws for the xenon lights are?

Cheers

Hi,

Checking my Owners Workshop Manual it says that you have to remove the headlight and rear cover then using a screwdriver you need to position the lever as required. The lever should be at the bottom of the setting for RHD traffic.

HTH.

i am also interested in this, does anyone have anymore details....

No, I think that the OP means that how do you set up the initial mechanical setting - ie aim of the headlight assembly. Remember any factory fit HIDs are kept pointing the right way by using onboard sensors and motor drives. Not like filament headlamps that are fixed and only get moved down by motors on demand (human intervention) when the car is heavily loaded.

Usual - spelling!!

Have you tried resetting the self levellers?

And when you say different levels how bad is the difference?

Right, you need to follow the intructions on Ross Tech. Your effectively turning off and reseting the SL's to do this anyway with the Vag com process but you must manually adjust using the big white turny screw thin on top of each lamp.

This is best done with the car against a garge door or wall when you can see the pattern. For god sake don't pinch them up too much otherwise you will justy annoy every other road user and get pulled.

I dont have Xenons mate, just trying to help by noting what it says in the World known workshop repair manuals.

Thanks for the reminder - I've been meaning to check mine over with VAG-COM, now the nights are drawing in and they'll be used a bit more...

To be honest it's not that bad not really noticable really just one of those annoying faults that shows up on VAG COM all the time. Am i right in thinking you can get VAG COM to 'learn' the new levels just to stop the fault code reappearing?

It's more a case of using VAG-COM to teach the car the new levels

Try this:thumbup:

Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: Xenon Headlamp Adjustment
