Heated mirrors broken?

Featured Replies

Got a 1.9 SDi Fabia Comfort that the heated mirrors don't work on. I guess it's not a critical feature but it irks me that they don't work, especially with winter coming... There's no mention of them at all in the Haynes manual - does anyone know which fuse (?), for instance, is responsible? Is it something that breaks easily? Any other wisdom? cheers

Make sure you've returned the control knob to the middle setting. The heating doesn't work otherwise.

According to the diagram on VRStu's site its fuse number 38.

Does the comfort model have heated mirrors then?

When the kn0b is turned to the heated mirrors setting it doesn't work, I'm not sure where else to have it turned to?

Well, it has the switch for it, whether it has the innards that's what I'm trying to ascertain :-) has never worked since I bought it 2nd hand but the vendor said it had heated mirrors, I never checked though. Was hardly a deal breaker ;-)

ps - fuse 38 is "electric mirrors" in the Haynes Manual - which I took to be the operation of the electric mirrors rather than their heating? They move around OK, just don't heat up.

Munkster - Our 2001 Comfort does have heated mirrors so I guess yours will as well. I think CJB means that the heated mirrors, if left in the "on" position time out after 20 minutes or so to stop them burning out. I'm not sure (I'll try and check next time I drive it) but you might need to turn them off to re-set them and then turn them on again to get them to work. Either that or you need to have the rear demister on as well.

Hmm, I'll try the rear demister thing, but I am pretty sure the last time I tried to use the heated mirrors was last winter when I would definitely have had the rear demister on too. By default my switch is usually on the "L" switch, as opposed to "L+R" or the heated mirror option so I don't think it's timed out... Thanks for ideas though!

I have a 2001 Comfort with the heated mirrors. Only mine don't work either. When I turn the switch there is a clicking noise as if a relay or circuit is connecting only they don't do anything. . . Any ideas?

I actually meant that if you leave them on L or R they don't heat at all. I made that mistake then realised....

On my 2002 Comfort, only the passenger side heats up, but I'm too tight to spend £25 on a new mirror glass to fix it!

Yep. Comfort Model deffo had heated mirrors. Both sides. Can take a few minutes to warm up but, after this you can see the ice melting, put your hand there and get them toastied. HTH nice to get it resolved before........tomorrow...Brrrr

The centre position - with the switch parked between L & R is the only position that the mirror heaters will work - you simply pull the knob towards the rear of the car - it's a simple rocking action and then it times itself for approx 10 - 20 minutes.

When it's raining, mine will stay hot all the time, it keeps the glass dry in the rain and it's a great feature.

I'll test mine, but I'm pretty sure that last time I was defrosting, the left mirror was steaming and the right one wasn't and when I checked, the button was in the R position. As soon as I moved it to the center, the right one heated up.

Next time it's wet, in particular, feel the glass when you get to work and they should be hot.

Or have I got a BIONIC Fabia
