I'm surprised they didn't penalise Hamilton for not putting his steering wheel back on quickly enough when he got out. There's time yet :thumbdwn:

Gutted.

I couldn't watch the Grand Prix when it happened, so I thought I'd watch the highlights show on ITV at 22:45. So I tried to avoid finding out the result, I didn't listen to the news, didn't come on here, turned my TV on at 22:45....

.... to find the ITV News, running late, starting at 22:45, with the headline of Hamilton winning, and telling exactly how it happened.

Whatever happened to "if you don't want to see the results, look away now"!?

Might as well not bother watching it now - don't they want people to watch their programmes?:mad:

Oh no, that's so annoying! My commiserations. :(

We very rarely get to watch the Grand Prix live and this is about the first time one or other of us hasn't seen the result. Before now I've accidentally heard results on the radio, seen them on websites and even seen one on someone's status on Facebook and had the outcome ruined but thankfully not today!

Andy answered the phone to his dad earlier and before he even said hello he said "Don't tell me the grand prix result!!" cos we were so determined not to have it spoilt for us!

I was derigging in the Velodrome and the bloody PA man put the GP on the PA system at top whack and also on the big screen. Then on the way out, a telly in the lobby had it on full tilt too!! I had to run out going ‘la la la la la la’ very loudly until I got outside and then found a pair of very heavy duty headphones so I could continue the Derig in complete silence.

I was wondering that as well. Suprised they didn't push Lewis's car into the burning Honda......................

I bet there were more than a few people that wanted to do that.

All these people on telly moaning about Glock handing him it.

I thought McLaren made the wrong choice bringing Hamliton in for Wets. However that turned out to be correct decesion, otherwise Hamilton would have had the same fate as Glock: loosing tyre temperature, then grip and lap times falling away. That's why our boy flew past him on the last part of the track (where the most water was).

Good on you Lewis

McLaren claim they studied the GPS plotting of all the important cars in the final laps and there calculations showed that Hamilton would catch Glock. They also claim to have told Hamilton this information and not to go a bit banzai (my words) with Vettel. Apparently they were also a bit nervous on the last lap, at least till Hamilton came up on Glock.

Lewis did what to Glock.........................:rolleyes::P;):D

Wildly o/t but nice sound job; shame the BBC seem to think the correct level for the track noise is 0, or the Manchester track (surface) really that quiet?

It is funny you should mention this. The poor mixer was beaten by the worlds most over the top PA system. We had over 16 mics on the track alone and you couldn't hear anything at all! Well that’s not strictly true, you could hear the PA system and the bloody music. I gave Jill Douglas a stick mic as it was the only way you could hear her or the interviewees. Ridiculously loud and we did complain a lot about it………..as you heard they took no notice of our request. The BBC interview position had to be moved because originally it was beside some PA and we couldn’t find a mic that would work there, apart form a Lip mic (which isn’t the smartest looking mic on the planet). During warm up they sounded great (the PA was low or off) but I guess that doesn’t help matters.

The bikes themselves are fixed wheel so they are inherently quiet, but you still normally hear something, like the chain rub of the wheels on timber track sounds. You do hear the bikes snap when they crash however and the tyres are as loud as a gun shot when they burst (220psi!!!)

Sorry, back OT now

Neeoooooooowwwwwwww:)

I thought the crowd was a little TOO partisan as well, so I was pleased as punch to see the crowd outside the circuit, watching on the big screen, start celebrating prematurely and then the reaction of them afterwards. After all the boo'ing, etc, I think f*** em! They deserve it! You don't get the crowd at Silverstone boo'ing everyone but Lewis do you.

why was the only excitement in the whole race confined to the last lap? *yawn*

Id say last 4 :) I didnt watch much of the season with all the ridiculous decisions, dull racing etc, but those last 4 laps more than made up for it IMHO.

For someone who wants to see the best bits, start when the race should have started (get to see the hilarious running around in the torrential rain) then continue for the first couple of laps of the race, then switch back on for the last 5-10 laps.

In that sense, wasn't too dissimilar to Spa. As previously mentioned, I'm just surprised how unlike Spa, the FIA haven't found something to penalise LH :D

I have to say, the predominatly exciting attribute of F1 this season has been the rain - all hell breaks lose when it comes and it brakes up the boring procession of cars going round a circuit

I ask for more variable rain during races next season please

Especially with the totally slick tyres coming back in next season.

The addition of KERS should allow for a nice video game style 'turbo boost' at kep moments in the race.

Im just Glad Massa never won in these circumstances......

My boss was up in Scotland over the weekend and was due to leave Fort William at 11 to get home for the race.He didn't get to leave till 3pm and was totally issed off.

Driving home listening to the race he turns it off when Lewis gets overtaken ,his wife turns it back on 3o mins later to hear the news that Hamilton won!

He couldn't understand what happend.

This was the most exciting finish ever!

Agreed.

I hope the FIA stop messing with the championship next year and just let people race. If they hadnt, then it might have made for more exciting times.

Very surprised Mr Donnelly and his merry puppets didnt pipe up at all during the whole race. I bet Max isnt happy.

but those last 4 laps more than made up for it IMHO.

Which is just were I caught it from, as I couldn't be arsed watching it all as it does get downright boring sometimes.

Yeah, notthe greatest of races. Massa drove brilliantly, best race he has driven all season imo.

But I don't get all the Glock stuff. The fact is, Hamilton finished 5th by overtaking one of the two cars still on slicks. Had Glock gone into the pits, Hamilton would have finished, er, 5th.

The outcome would have been no different.

great race, last lap was a nitemare...

i thought he had lost it....

Max who knows, but Bernie seemed to think that LH wining would be very good for F1.
