Octy VRS Love Thread

Featured Replies

Just been reading through some of the threads today i cant believe there is no love anywhere! :D

A casual visitor may then believe the Octy (and in particular the VRS) isnt quite as good as the awards say it is, so lets post about some good things :)

VRSJGM - Best car i have ever owned in relation to Ford / Vauxhall. LOVE IT

Couldn't agree me with the orig poster. I've just been subjected to driving other cars whilst away on business and its really nice to get back in my VRS.

Oooh my first post, do I get a badge now?

There in lies the reason why it's the best car you've ever owned - comparing it to Ford/Vauxhall

One thing to consider though is that a good percentage of posts on the forum are by people finding us on google, drifting in, and then posting up a problem for help with a solution.

This is not a bad thing I guess, but imho is the reason why you will see a good deal of posts that can come across as negative while having a trawl through.

I have had 2 octy's, a vRS and a DSG elegance, the vRS was fun, I still miss it infact.

I've had two Octavia vRS's, a mark 1 and now a mark 2. My silver mark 1 was a great car, the power came in big lumps and it was always a pleasure to beat little chavs in their Corsa's who thought "Pah - a Skoda". I never tired of smiling in those situations. It was also very economical for the type of vehicle. My white mark 2 is also a great car, more accomplished than the mark 1, smoother under acceleration and more comfortable. They have more soul than the boring VW Golf and less money. Audi engineering for Skoda money - you can't go wrong.

I love mine to bits and can't wait to get it back

Hi Guys! Can't agree more - my MkII Octy VRS is an absolute joy! Just coming up on 6k miles since buying it in May this year. Still puts a smile on my face every time i drive it and is quite simply the best car i've ever owned for combined, fun, performance, space, comfort and much more.

I can't wait for the chance to unleash more power and add upgrades as cash becomes available.

Enjoy folks!

I love driving mine every single time i get in it. I also love being the passenger in one when on a 999 call.

In summary. They are great.

Absolutely loved the car, in fact I've owned three of 'em including a MkI vRS estate and two MkII vRS hatchbacks. Had fun in making all of them go a bit faster with my last MkII being an absolute stormer of a car and will find it difficult to find anything to replace it :o

Unfortunately the very place where all this enthusiasm for the marque originated now has the opposite effect :(

Love it.

Fast, economical, tows well (I know, Iknow!), looks the business.

Can't ask for more!

Had both a Mk1 petrol vRS and a Mk2 Diesel vRS, not a single problem with either.

Thats nothing,nada,zip in a combined 80k miles.

Oops tell a lie, had the mk1 windscreen replaced under warrenty after a crack appeared half way down by the pillar on the passenger side.

Yep, me too. Without doubt, the best car I've owned when all aspects are considered. Just given it a proper obsessive clean this weekend inside and out and fallen in love with it over again :)

Another big lover here, best car i've owned to date! Still gives me a grin every time i drive it!

so why post on here then?

yep, love my baby too..best car i've ever had :D

I'm more happy with my Octy than any car I've ever bought (and I bought my first car back in 1972 !)

Every time I drive it I get a smile on my face :)

Makefish, i assume from the above that you have had some bad experiences?

Unless my English comprehension is way off mark, I believe what Makefish wrote was not his own bad experience, but a comment that Briskoda (where all this enthusiasm.....originated) is now often used for problem reporting (the opposite effect). Now how is that not what he wrote????????

That's the way I read it too. makefish is a whole hearted supporter of the Octavia and Skoda in general; and yes, I will forgive him for defecting to VW (well it's a Company car so beggars can't be choosers)

I love my Octy vRS TDI; a good 'stealth' car, cheaper and IMHO better than a Golf/Audi A4 and I like being individualistic (too many Golf's around).

My one regret; I don't get to be able to drive it often enough on the right roads to enjoy it more. :D;)

I luv my VRS.

14k miles and zero faults. First service coming up soon.

Ive only had mine a week, and am loving it :D

I am on my second Ocky, 1st was a MK1 1.9 TDI SXL which I ran for four and a half years and nearly 80 thousand miles. I had no problems with it at all.

Current car is a MK2 1.9 TDI Elegance registered in September 2004. It is a delight to drive, far more enjoyable than the Mk1, which is why I love it :).

Unfortunately on the reliability front it has been poor which is where the hate comes in :thumbdwn:. It was delivered with faults, mainly minor, and has subsequently had more than its fair share of problems including a shattered flywheel which, fortunately, occurred just before the three year warranty expired.

Having read many of the postings on this and the VW owners forums it appears that the VW group has been suffering the Mercedes syndrome where what was previously a very reliable mark is going through a period of poor reliability.

Coming up on 2 and a half years of ownership and I love my Octy to bits still :D

Especially after it gets a clean....check out styling and car care section(fast wash)

Mick

love my vRS, only thing I prefer to it is a brand new Audi A4 3.0 diesel auto and most of the good bits in that are exactly what i've got in my octavia
