The gap keeps widening........

Aye, I had to look on wikkipedia to see what troll was about.

People will just say they love the awful noise and the lazy driving experience

We petrol boys don't get any sympathy when we struggle to get 40mpg so I'm afraid you get none either when petrol and diesel prices decouple :)

don't mean to come across as unsympathetic diesel-bods..... but, suck it up.

thats just f****** stupid....... this isn't a thread about whether diesel is better than petrol ect ect ect (troll)

its a complaint about the fact that us diesel users are bieng done over by the fuel companies..... unfair theft of our money... not deisel is better than petrol petrol is better than diesel crap... wrong thread to give up that kind of ****e.

(and I dont care that it may have been tongue in cheek ect (when you post back) wrong place, wrong comment

as above, and even more so , thats just an unjustified nasty comment, about people actually suffering (I do over 900 miles a week out of my own profits) when we are being unjustifiably taken for our money for no reason at all...)

:thumbdwn::thumbdwn::thumbdwn:

Fuel companies are taking the ****, if people want to dig imagine how annoyed you would be if they swapped the pricing over?

Also just remember that all the goods get to you by lorry and the lorry drivers are being ripped off for this extra money too. As such you're paying for it on your weekly shop etc.

don't mean to come across as unsympathetic diesel-bods..... but, suck it up.

Well , if you find it funny seing people ripped off , then that says quite a lot about you.

None of it good.

So it's ok to gloat like **** about doing twelvety zillion mpg but now you want to have your cake AND eat it by making diesel as cheap as petrol?

Dr Z how are people getting ripped off? Any evidence? I've struggled to find any decnet stuff.

Cheeze, there's a long queue of people ripping you off, most of them by a lot more than your contested 5% on your fuel bill.

We're pouring hundred's of billions of pounds into an economic black hole that your children will be paying back for a very long time...

And here people are moaning about 5p on the price of diesel. The people get the government deserve. I shall leave you to your maudlin reflections of flat caps, hovis loaves and cheap diesel. :)

EDIT:

Ok, you want constructive? There are 2 issues I do not have enough understanding to claim, as you have done, that diesel is a rip off.

Supply, what is the UK supply position of petrol and diesel? Do we make enough of both to satisfy demand, Do we import any? (The weakness of the pound won't help any imports - all time low against the Euro for instance). Are we now on winter diesel? Does this cost any more to process/treat? Not that there is requirement for a certain amount of Bio-fuel to be added to the mix, how does this affect the price of fuels?

Demand, what's the demand position for the available supply? Surely this has a greater effect on the price consumer price at the moment than what it costs to produce. Typically I have noticed that the petrol/diesel price differential does diverge toward the end of the year so this is quite normal. What are the other demands on diesel type fuel? Fuel oil for heating/power, shipping etc? What about, god forbid, a reduction in diesel consumption that would require suppliers to put up prices to maintain their businesses? Survival not profiteering. That would really **** you all off, wouldn't it? There was also a story a few years ago about making shipping use low sulphur fuel similar/same as (?) diesel which would hugely increse demand for better processed fuel. Did anything ever come of that?

Maybe when you can sufficiently answer those questions I'll treat this more seriously than a pre-pubescent tantrum.

dr zoidberg i don't find it funny, the key word in my post is "unsympathetic". i've read many posts from tdi owners, and i don't believe this is too strong a word, gloating about their superior mpg over petrol engined cars (and no, as another poster has written, this is not a thread about which fuel type is 'better', i believe each has a place; horses for courses if you will?), so when peeps complain about the gap between petrol and diesel fuel: i don't have any sympathy.

if my opinion annoys some others (certainly i've read some posts on here that i don't like), perhaps we can agree to disagree?

I don't want sympathy as such, but the oil companies and garages really are just plain ripping off the diesel buyers at the moment.

I direct the honourable members to my previous post

*mops up all the mud that's been slung...*

bloody hell some of you guys are a wee bit over sensitive!!
