cupra r front splitter fitted to Octy2 vrs

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

I know there is a thread running re above but i did not think it fair to hijack it.

This is how i did it bought it from local Seat dealer £21 inc vat,

Part number iml805903

1/ Found the centre of the lower grill this is done by either running a line from the o of the bonnet badge or counting in from either side the fins of the lower grill count in 12 and you have got it.

Then find the centre of the splitter and tape and mark both.

2/I then holding both middle lines together offered one side up to the underside of the bumper and marked it where i was going to drill did this on both sides (did it myself but if there are another pair of hands get them).

I them drilled the holes and screwed it up so that it was holding and this allowed me to mark the bumper so that i could cut it for the splitter posts.

3/ I cut the post holes out with a dremmel type tool a little at a time till it was a tight fit.

Then removed splitter from car and buffed all the lugs flat so that the splitter fitted without gaps.

4/ Then refitted the splitter and teased and pulled it into position drilling and screwing it up as i went but saying that it did not take much moving.

Thats how i did it its not to say this is gospel and i cant be held responsible if you take of a finger or hand or even worse damage your car .

Im certainly no going to be held responsible for swmbo coming out every five minutes and asking if youve finished or asking if you nothing better to do.

Hope this helps someone i enjoyed doing it .

Here are some pics

That looks quite good. Apparently these can be fitted to almost any car. I saw one on a B6 Passat yesterday It looked very good indeed.

Great write up Whoosh!

  • 5 months later...

Could you put a picture of the whole car. The front end at least... I can't see anything about how that looks on the car.

hei mate... please post some pics where we ca see the entire front of the car and bumper. I'm thinking about making the same mod, but it will be nice to see the car from a larger perspective. Thanks and hope you post some new pics.

I'm pretty sure it was the LCR splitter - there are two or three threads on Passat World about this as well.

Yup; like the look of that. Overall pic of the front end would be really useful.

That sort of mod should look fantastic on your motor

I like the look of this, good job:thumbup:

Is the splitter part supposed to be colour coded or is it just black plastic? I think a black splitter on a white car would look good. Would just be worried about drilling holes in my car in case I cocked it up!

doesnt matter if you do, id imagine there not going to be visible even with the splitter removed

Yep I think it would do my motor no harm give me a few weeks hopefully will have a few photos.

It is black plastic Jonno and as said the holes are only visible if you get down and look under the front of the car.

No drill required either:thumbup:
