Infinity Basslink

Featured Replies

In the search for that extra BASS I pondered over getting the optional Fabia sub AKA Blaupunkt CMS265 Active subwoofer and the Infinity Basslink, due to the extremely good reviews on uk-mkivs.net I plumped for the Infinity.

The sub/amp cost me

Looks very convenient, and unlike mine, you can still get a few shopping bags in the boot. ;)

Just wondering, is it quite secure on the floor, or is it screwed in on the side bit too? I really struggled to get good points to secure my amps on the floor where there was none of that chipboard timber stuff underneath :( Had to try and use little thin bits of timber to give the screws something to bite into. Worth it though! :D

Not fully secured yet, didn't realise Skoda skimped on the boot floor chipboard, will have to cut my own then fully screw down the unit. At the mo it's secured to the luggae hooks with a strap.(not shown in picture)

I've had my Infinity Basslink in my Focus for nearly a year now, it's a superb unit for the money. Looks neat and performs well - looks a bit different too!

The boot-lining is flat and solid. I've secured mine by using 4 square-shaped velcro sticky pads on each of the four feet. It sticks to the boot-lining material extremely well, doesn't move anywhere... ;)

And if anyone is thinking about the Blaupunkt unit, mine is finally getting installed next week so I'll let you know if it's worth the

looks a very neat solution... might have a look at one myself..

Where did you get the basslink for 144?

Is it easy to route the wires?

ta ;)

www.caraudiosecurity.com this also includes a amp wiring kit, you just need to add p+p.

Des

ta muchly ;)

may order one . . . don`t tell the girl friend!

sorry for the maybe very obvious question, will this work with the single cd standard unit in the fabia vRS?

Absolutely, thats what I running it with. You just need an RCA cable, see my first post above.

Once run in this thing kicks but I turn it down a tad when the wife is in the car. I'm not going to bother changing the Symphony as this add-on makes it sound ten times better, my audio levels on the symphony are bass -1 and treble +9 that way you can max the volume without distorting your oem speakers whislt retaining a nice solid b-line from the sub.

does the basslink really give off a good amount of bass?

did you fit it yourself? easy?

I'm not going to kid you but YES it definately does, when the sub level is on full it really does thump. Frankly you'd be amazed.

did you fit it yourself? easy?

YES, but laying the cables would be easier if you got a mate to help.

Des

laying cable involves a fair bit of trim removal.

Des? Is it powered from a power cable, or does it get enough through the RCA?

  • Author

I ran a fused 30a line directly from the battery for the sub and there is also a remote turn on cable hooked upto the sub that comes from the RCA cable.

If anyone is interested I can take more detailed shots of the install route for the power cable etc..........

Des

might be an idea for a wee surprise pressie for the gf

Please :) I would like to see some piccies!

What is the fuse rating on the basslink unit? I am prob gonna use a punch 60amp for the fronts and need to think about fuses and wire guages etc . . .

what RCA lead did you get from bluespot?

  • 2 weeks later...

Does anyone know if the symphony unit in the Octavia requires the same lead?

In my quest to add more bass to my system I've now installed one of these. Well when I say me, I really mean master electrician Bengie. I just stood by and watched a master at work (and tried to look pretty in the process, or do i mean cool  )

How he installed it I honestly don't know, my understanding of electronics is majorly limited. :o

I do know that all most all the connections were taken from my JL Audio amp (that powers my front components) though.

I am very very happy with the result, I have been able to take the bass from my door speakers to allow them to play mid and the tweeters treble as designed. With bass coming from the unit in the boot. The result is a mucher cleaner sound that can go very very loud with no problems. This coupled with my DAB unit, that Bengie helped me install the previous weekend, makes for a very pleasant listening experience:D

I've now got the task of fine tuning to the perfect sound for me, so far rather than adjusting the bass boost or gain I've set myself three varying user EQ's on my head unit. One for all out bass, one for just subtle bass that accentuates the sound, and one in-between.

A BIG thanks to Bengie for all his help over the past weeks, and I can't forget to thank Lummox for re-connecting my rear wiper jet piping which had disconnected somewhere in the bonnet.

 CHEERS CHAPS!!!

Aye, Bengmiester and Lummox are helpfull chaps indeed

I've heard a lot of good things about these subs and did indeed order one ages ago, but they buggered up my order.

So i've gone all out now :D

Where did you mount your amp for the comps? Not under a seat by anychance? Just thinking of my system now....

There are indeed!

I've done this in the reverse manner to you Walkie, I had bought myself an Alpine Type R 10" but decided to sell that and get one of these instead.

My amp is mounted in the boot on the back of the single fold down seat, seems like a good position for it, easily accessible but no in the way, with plenty of air flow to cool it.

I must admit I am not impressed by the extra weight added by my system, all the MDF, sound deadening, sub and amps  But *fingers crossed* should all sound good when I liven up

Still a while off completion, but i've got lots of progress pics :D

Just as well you have you AMD One-click then! ;)

When done you'll surely be able to power the car by opening the boot and using the air the sub is pushing out to push you forwards. :D

Certainly fuel saving!
